  1. Once highly-touted Zach Fucale is a goalie I'd like the Sabres to trade for. He's 27 and not getting a chance with the Capitals. Hasek was a late bloomer... Comrie doesn't do it for me. Anderson is a placeholder, although plays well for the most part but his time is almost up. UPL needs more seasoning. I hate that it looks like the Sabres are going to lose Portillo, who's huge. There's no guarantee on Levi either. Not too many 6' NHL goalies. Topias Leinonen might be a goalie of the future but his stats over the last five year are hardly lights out.
  2. Dunno, but I agree with Punch's old adage...incremental improvements. Look at Jost...that was an unexpected pickup that worked out. Looks to me like he's replaced Asplund/Hinostroza. I feel like I've identified the guys that need to either improve or if they're unable to improve, be replaced. I'm patient with the guys that need to and have the ability and mindset to improve. Example: Thompson. Unfortunately, change needs to start at the top. Our captain is a "has been."
  3. Nice guys but drags on the lineup: Okposo, Girgs, Mitts, Asplund, Hinostroza, Comrie, Anderson. Not ready for primetime: JJP, Quinn, Clague, Davies, Bryson, Fitz, UPL. Bandaid boys: Bushkin, Joki.
  4. Missing the third. Lucky me. In the first and second it was good to see Joki back with Asplund and Hino. These three look rusty...passes are a little off...and maybe their semi-disjointedness is rubbing off on the team. Passes seem a bit off today.
  5. The title of this thread is a real drag.
  6. Reino might be on the block. https://www.nhltraderumors.me/2023/01/nhl-rumors-florida-panthers-considering.html
  7. Chycrun AND Vejmelka.
  8. Here's an eye-opening bio of the colorful & illiterate Eddie Shack
  9. Looking for a great goalie tandem, not a bigger boat. The more options, the better. Plus Suchanek looks good, is from Czech and has the ek at the end of his name...
  10. Tomas Suchanek sounds good to me.
  11. On Luukonnen's save on Sheary...Great glove stab but I think it was going wide. The Washington TV team didn't pick up on that. Anyone else think so? (4:19)
  12. Ullmark must have been thrilled to be part of the Bruins' ceremony. Very rich in tradition. The Bruins walked out dressed like old-time Red Sox playersThis kind of thing never happens in Buffalo because we are relatively new to major league sports. . It was a treat. But of course it means more in Buffalo.
  13. Krebs' fight was important...it's only the second fight we've had all year...the first was Jost in his first game...It was good that he stood up for himself but the highlight for me that I loved was that Krebs clocked Taylor Hall. I can't stand that mercenary and I hope Lyubushkin puts him through the boards when he comes to town.
  14. I keep hearing two drawbacks about the 21 year old Lafreniere. The first is consistency and the second is lack of speed and you can't teach speed. But Vanek wasn't speedy either...
  15. Zito s*** the bed after Tampa swept the Panthers. The chemistry is off and maybe the team has already tuned out Maurice. Maybe the Panthers can save their season with a coaching change before things get messy. I hear Quenneville wants to get back into coaching...I give Maurice 15 more games.
  16. What's the over/under of when Paul Maurice gets fired?
  17. I know this is against the grain but I like Pilut. He had a great shot from the point the other game v Vegas. He makes good plays. He's just small and not physical. He's a rich man's Ruhwedel.
  18. Lafreniere is in the doghouse...again. By the comments, Ranger fans are disappointed with the former overall #1, among other things, saying he's too slow. He's playing 13-14 min a game with no power play time. Will the Rangers finally give up on him? https://nypost.com/2022/12/28/alexis-lafreniere-dropped-to-fourth-line-after-rangers-no-show/
