  1. You're right it was a good cross-ice pass to Cozens, who missed a few good chances, including that one. But I was relieved when he came back from that blocked shot. The way he was crawling to the bench was scary. We'll see if he needs time off. Skinner missed one or two others too. The Skinner goal was a funny one...he took it away from VO, who has been snakebit lately. The Oilers missed a few great chances two including that 2 on 0 in the third. I don't know how that didn't end up in the net. Thompson hit yet another post. In the end we were beaten by McDavid, which happens to many teams.
  2. Maybe it's not fair to judge by first impressions but sometimes it tells you important things about a person. I watched his presser today which I couldn't get all the way through. The first question was about what was his reaction he was coming to Buffalo. I noticed that he didn't look very happy and he shook his head from side to side a lot. His head and eyes were down much of the time. He said he was excited to be part of the Sabres but he kept shaking his head and looking doward and his body language seemed to contradict what he was saying. Maybe it's attitude, fatigue or he's just not a good interview. (from changingminds.org: Turning the head from side to side usually indicates disagreement or disapproval and may originate in infant refusal of food) As for the game, he had a couple of interesting scrums in the corners in both the first and the second but it seemed he was benched (?) in the third. He will be a ton to take care of behind the net. He made a couple of good defensive plays and got a routine wrister off from long distance which was a can of corn for the goalie. I didn't get much of an impression of him making his presence felt except in a scrum or two. I didn't notice Jordan much at all in the third. I'm not going to read too much into this first performance, especially with two of our top guys out of the lineup in Tuch and Samuelson and also Stillman, forcing to play Bryson and Clague. There was a disjointed feel to this game. It started off well then the Oilers took over and it seemed as if the Sabres were never really in synch. Lot of missed chances. The Wild fans say that although he has a lot of physical gifts, but he's lazy. We'll see.
  3. SHOOT the puck more! At the corners, high or low, or at the holes as presented. Do not overpass. Do not shoot the puck at the Oiler goalies' crest.
  4. I'd shock the hockey world, and our three-headed monster, by playing Comrie again. Get someone on a roll for a change and stick with him. Plus he beat the Oilers 4-2 earlier in the year.
  5. Funny how Cooper benched the entire Stamkos-Kucherov-Point line for the whole third period. First time that's ever happened in the 11 years Cooper has coached TB.
  6. Didn't see if that was discussed but looked like the ref lost a lower tooth in that corner scrum between Maroon and Stillman.
  7. Nobody's scared of the speed of Okposo. He just can't get there in time. I think an off-ice leadership position with the team would be ideal next year.
  8. I'm with you. Improving Greenway at the tail end of his worst season might be a Herculean task.
  9. I like KO but I don't want him back next year. Hire him in some other non-player capacity. I think he'll hold back a young'un who can help the Sabres advance further. I also hope Girgs goes away too. Nothing personal, I just want all the players who've stayed for too long from the losing seasons to leave.
  10. Looking it up on the hfboard, the Wild fans seem cool with this deal. It's an unscientific thing but here are some of the comments about Greenway. He's had a disappointing season. Overall huge disappointment. They find him inconsistent, showing flashes, then disappearing for ten games. He has stone hands. He was never going to reach his potential in MN bc of the system. Not motivated. A considerable amount of talent but none of the toolbox to use it. Could manhandle the whole league if he wanted to but nah. Greenway is Charlie Coyle. etc. etc. https://forums.hfboards.com/threads/greenway-to-buffalo-for-a-2nd-and-a-5th.2919414/
  11. Senators leading Rangers 4-3 with 5 minutes to go. Thankfully this game is over. Can't stand watching this team not even get close + listening to a damaged Edwards. Even when he was normal, it was torture.
  12. In the past he's been really obnoxious but vibrant but never behind the play like he is this year. Also his diction is too slow, like he's a 78rpm playing on a 33 rpm record. He's having trouble getting the words out and pronouncing things too. Brickley is much more fluent, which hasn't ever been the case. You're not right here Punch, he's not usually like that. You'd have to hear it. He's not the same PBP guy. Something happened.
  13. I live in Boston and am watching the Boston feed too. Edwards doesn't sound right...doesn't sound like himself. He sounds slow, draggy and behind the play. If you listened to him on the radio, you wouldn't know what the hell is going on. It's been this way all season. Maybe he's had a stroke?
  14. Yeah, more skill forwards and LHD.
  15. While you're at it, go to: Bocci Pizza Duff's Wings Anderson's Frozen Custard Mighty Taco Ted's Hot Dogs Louie's Texas Red Hots (I'm still mourning the closure of Leonardi's Pizza.)
  16. Bruins just picked up Bertuzzi from Detroit for two picks. Wonder if he'll play. https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/35767761/bruins-acquire-todd-bertuzzi-red-wings-2-picks Taylor Hall is seeking a second opinion on a LBI so he might be out for awhile...Wonder if they'll play Stillman.
  17. Can't think of everything but the Leafs, the Kings and Edmonton seem to be spots. So might Calgary and Florida. (Might be getting off the "top contenders" idea). I'd like to see Anderson win a cup. I know he's old but he's having a great season. He's just not part of the future.
  18. I'd like to see Colton Parayko (6'6 RHD) and Ivan Provorov (6'1 LHD) added to the Sabres lineup, plus goalie Vejmelka. I think that would make Buffalo instantly tougher to play against.
  19. This will probably be Anderson's last year so I'd trade him to a top contender to give him a chance to win a cup. I'd probably trade UPL as well to clear the way for Levi. Not overly impressed with Comrie either. Ultimately, I'd like to see a duo of Levi and Vejmelka.
