  1. I've always wanted to try a plate. Maybe I will head over to Bill Gray's on Main St. in the next few weeks.
  2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIm2dnyJ1Ps&feature=related
  3. If there is any loss of regular season games, I may just throw in the towel on the NHL.
  4. I must have been having a blonde moment. I had no idea what you guys were talking about. I thought Taro's initial post was some obsucre Flounder reference from Animal House.
  5. I'm in for whichever one I was in last year. Don't want to try the other league and play with a different set of rules.
  6. You never want to be the team giving up the best player in the deal(Quantity for Quality). I've said it many times, I don't trust Regier to make deals that actually make the Sabres a better team. Not just..."he won that deal".
  7. Mary Carillo seems to be a very odd choice for NBC Olympic studio host. Not only is she not very easy on the eyes, but her speech comes off as very robotic.
  8. Actually I started it by questioning if we should have a new thread for the 2012 season. :nana:
  9. Bull####? Right back at you, if you are comparing Tyler Myers who is 6'7" 220+ pounds and has fought at least a little in juniors and the NHL with dropping the gloves against a guy like Lucic, versus Gretzky/Crosby/LEAGUE SUPERSTARS!
  10. Chances of getting hurt in a fight and missing subsequent games are minsicule compared to getting checked into the boards by an oncoming forward which happens multiple times every game. No player on the ice should be exempt from responding to a cheap shot like Miller received last year. No one!
  11. Mods...Shoulld there be a Buffalo Bills 2012 thread, or just keep addiing to this one?
  12. I'd so much rather continue to debate Drury/Briere summer of 2007. Bottom line...Some guys don't want to get punched in the face no matter what happens on the ice. Two choices, live with these players knowing they will not standup for a teammate depending on who the instigator is on the other team, or ship them out. Not to single out Myers, but IMO Lucic could run Miller every game against the Sabres for the next 10 years, and Myers wouldn't drop the gloves ONCE. He's a big boy. If nothing else, drop the gloves and hang on for dear life. Whats the worst that can happen? You get a black eye? Guess what? The crowd would love you for doing it, and they would look at that black eye as a badge of honor. Same goes for a number of Sabres. The list is too long to type.
  13. Someday I have to make it to Grovers. I always struggle with the choice of going there for two reasons. The traffic on Transit Rd especially in the evening, and the notion that a hamburger at one place can be that much better than one at a hundred restaurants that are closer to my house.
  14. Instead of giving up Sekera for Berglund, I'd much rather sign Arnott or Langkow for the 3rd line for a year or two, and then go forward with some combination of Hodgson, Grigs, Z, Ennis and Sundher as your top 3 centers in 14-15 or even in 13-14. Sekera is a valuable bargaining chip in trade talks. I don't know if I trust DR to get not ony maximum value, but a piece coming back that will be a great fit.
  15. I also have concerns about Myers. I hope he turns out to be a perennial all-star. I have bad vibes that he may just end up being slighlty better than average. Not an offensive dynamo from the back end, not overly physical, just a decent player.
  16. It's going to be a long 6 weeks until training camp. So... Let's hear about your best, worst and overrated WNY restaurants. Anything from fine dining to fast food... Best... Chris' Sandwich Shop on Delaware near Tupper(full service, only open for lunch) - Terrific sandwiches! Kentucky Greg's BBQ Russell's The Silo - Just a great setting on the Lower Niagara for a sandwich on a summer night. Danny's on Genessee Chipotle(gotta go with the bowl). Worst... Zebb's on Southwestern - Have tried 3 times in the last few years and each time the food and/or service was worse than the previous visit. I always get fooled by the number of cars in the lot. Anchor Bar - Horrible tourist trap. Swannie House - Gave it one try last year before a hockey game. Asked for extra crispy wings, received extra rubbery wings, and the service sucked. Never again. Overrated... French Pub - Always packed, never get it. It is okay, just not what I expect from a place that is packed 7 days a week.
  17. In what world is Pardy a top-6 defenseman?
  18. I agree with you 100% that is why ESPN only has still pics. What I was wondering, is why other networks can't show highlights after a period of hours has passed. Wouldn't it work in NBC's favor if someone who stumbled across highlights on ESPN, may then tune in NBC for future events? Despite NBC's thousands of hours of coverage on 4 different channels, do they have a 30 minute highlight show of the days events?
  19. Couldn't sleep last night around 2AM. Got up and flipped on sportscenter to see some Olympic highlights only to realize that all ESPN could show was still pics from the days events! WTF! I could see them not being allowed to show highloghts in the afternoon/evening, but once everything has concluded for the day. Why not?
  20. I remember after it was announced that the world juniors were coming here(late 2008??), how awesome it would be if the casino/hotel and canalside were done by that time. :( While the canals are being done this summer, I am nervous about how long it will be before anything is built around them. After all, putting a few colored adirondack chairs was the "heralded" progress for 2011.
  21. Is there a 100 year plan in place in terms of road construction on I90 in and around Erie? I only go through there once or twice a year, and going back 15-20 years, it seems like there is always construction either east or west bound, and usually the kind that causes gridlock.
  22. I am not sure condos in this space is going to be a retail make or break. There are plenty of condos down by the Erie Basin Marina, and they can't/won't support one restaurant that has gone from Crawdaddys to Shanghai Reds to Templeton Landing, and is still empty most days. There are plenty of downtown opportunities for developers who want to build condos. I'd give Pegs the first chance. Who knows, if successful, he may be willing to invest in other Canalside ventures.
