  1. I'm in. Looks like SS Blue and Gold will be dormant this year.
  2. Anyone know the date/time for the 2nd intra-squad scrimmage? Poked around sabres.com, but no luck.
  3. If Eakin, as the Sabres 3rd like center, only gets 15 points, this team is in BIG trouble, as this means there is little to no production from the 3rd or 4th lines.
  4. I voted for this, because I love your description of the song, in the poll options. šŸ˜‚ PS This should have been named the goal song last time...instead of the travesty they currently are using. šŸŽ¶ ...Hear their shout, hear their roar They've probably had a barrel of ale and much, much more Hooray, hooray, hooray, yeah Over the hill went the swords of a thousand men...šŸŽ¶
  5. I didn’t know this. I would have guessed that most AHL teams had independent owners.
  6. Me too. As disappointing the last decade was, I’d always go down for rookie camp, training camp, and in more recent years, the prospect challenge.
  7. Good insights.
  8. Yeah...but did he have the kiddie hockey academy on his resumé. 😈
  9. I’d really like to see Borgen or to a lesser extent Bryson get some chances early in the season, over old man Hal Irwin, or the other blueline fodder signed during the off-season.
  10. You beat me to it. 😊
  11. I don’t care how tough the division looks on paper, if the Sabres miss the playoffs again, it will be a huge disappointment.
  12. This! Unless the NHL owners are willing to absorb the losses of their AHL affiliates playing in empty arena’s, I can’t see a way there will be an AHL season.
  13. Here’s hoping the Sabres stream some of the training camp sessions, or at least the two planned intra-squad scrimmages. No need to have Peters and River blabbering, just give me the video feed.
  14. I used to be in "Blue", and then dropped out. If there is enough interest, I would be willing to takeover duties to run "Blue".
  15. With no AHL until 2/5 at the earliest, what happens to all the training camp players who don’t make the Sabres roster or taxi squad? Workout on their own? Rochester coaching staff?
  16. So did I read this earlier, Kucherov can be put on LTIR to get them under the cap, but come playoff time, he can come back and play? If so, that’s a joke and the NHL needs to address that.
  17. I'd like to be optimistic, but with the numbers on the rise, and no bubble(which the players were never going to agree to and I can't blame them for that), I see covid reaking havoc on this already shortened season. Don't get me wrong, Sabres hockey on TV basically every other day will help January and February move a little faster....so for my sake, I hope the season can play out with as few hiccups as possible.
  18. Well...clearly the German bubble has some leaks. If any Germans test positive tomorrow or the next few days, the whole team should be sent home.
  19. Hate the idea. It’s a bush league move for a professional big 4 US sports league. šŸ‘ŽšŸ‘ŽšŸ‘Ž
  20. What happens to AHL teams at that point? Do they just become independents who sign players not under contract to NHL teams? I wonder if they could still afford a handful of guys who make the $500-750k salaries? Anyways...interesting concept.
  21. It wouldn’t help with fans at games, and I’m sure non-sports fans would be up in arms, but I’d be in favor of allowing players and other game day staff to get vaccinated before training camps start. It would be less than 100 vaccinations per team, so for the whole NHL it would only be 2500-3000 total. Not a lot in the grand scheme of things, knowing how many doses are being produced. It would at least allow for an uninterrupted season.
  22. I’m guessing Florida, Winnipeg and Arizona are below us?
  23. I’m surprised no AHL teams haven’t opted out...unless their losses will partially be covered by the NHL or the owners of the NHL teams they are affilIated with. No fans = No revenue for AHL owners
  24. I knew what the term ā€œtaxi squadā€ meant in regards to sports teams, but never knew the origin, until I just googled it... Coach Paul Brown invented it when he wanted to keep a group of promising players who didn’t make the roster. He didn’t want to get rid of them completely, so owner Arthur McBride put them on the payroll of the taxi company that he owned. Alas, the term ā€œtaxi squadā€ was born and would ultimately be adopted by the NFL.
