  2. Yep. I fully expect moves to be made and I don't mean Donovan. The Sabres and the Amerks will both be better if Ruhwedel and McCabe are Amerks this season.
  3. While the Bruins the bed on draft day, they still have some good players. I can see them competing for a playoff spot this season...assuming Chara has something left in the tank.
  4. Amerk fans should be extremely happy today...O'Reilly, Donovan & Akeson. Is there still room for Ellis in Rochester?
  5. I can't remember from last year, but assuming they don't have legit reasons not to be there, I would expect all players from juniors, college, overseas, and also 1st and 2nd year pros. [edited]Along with enough invitees to make up a roster of 40 or so players.
  6. You know what I like about Oduya... Even as he plays into his 30's, he continues to be a guy who doesn't miss many games. I would be okay with giving him 4 years, and if push came to shove, I'd give him 5.
  7. Hard to believe development camp is next week. Look forward to going down for practice a couple days.
  8. I still think the best case scenario(and obviously doesn't need to be resolved today or even in the next week or two) is for the Sabres to sign and/or trade for two defensemen to play with the big club next year. McCabe, Ruhwedel & Donovan would all be Rochester bound and can fight for the first injury call-up.
  9. Slight reading comprehension issue this afternoon.
  10. ^^^ This. If the suites and seats are sold, that is all that matters to the owners and Bettman.
  11. I disagree. What about when the Sabres are on the road? I would almost guarantee that they will be carrying 7 blueliners at all times.
  12. Am I forgetting someone, or will the Sabres be looking for two defensemen this offseason(not to mention 2-3 blueliners for the Amerks)? If Gorges knee is screwed up after surgery, make it 3. Sabres Bogo Risto Gorges Weber Pysyk #6 - ??? #7 - ??? Rochester McCabe Ruhwedel Austin Leduc
  13. Hooters with slightly better food and a not so obvious name.
  14. POS Rinaldo better not even think about cheap shotting Reinhart or Eichel. You're on notice Zack...I mean Hack!
  15. Didn't like the the trade when it happened on Friday, and still don't like it. Lehner is going to have to convince me come October because there is very little that he has done at the NHL level to date.
  16. Quantity, not quality. IMO...All about keeping the opposition to the outside.
  17. I the bed on Babcock/Richardson, Hodgson, ROR and Zadorov. I'm done even if some of my FA predictions come true.
  18. Good point. I guess I didn't look that close.
  19. I am sure it is purely based on analytics, but over the course of their draft coverage, Matthew Coller was talking up a UFA defenseman from San Jose by the name of Matt Irwin. Honestly can't say I have ever heard of him. Anyone have thoughts on Irwin?
  20. Once again, it was more Nolan's system, than it was Irbe being a miracle worker. Does anyone really believe that within a week or two of being acquired by the Sabres that Irbe can turn hot garbage into solid goalies? After Nolan was fired, I always thought it was a matter of time before Irbe was no longer part of the organization.
  21. - Housley was awesome from an offensive standpoint, and if he was just two inches taller, probably would have made a great center. - Housley was a trainwreck from a defensive standpoint at the beginning, middle, and end of his career. I will alway remember the playoff game( I think it was against Montreal, maybe Taro, Tom Webster or other "old timers" can help), where he had the goalie screened, but stepped out of the way of blocking a shot at the last second. GWG/OT goal?? - A few years ago, Rob Ray stated Housley was the only teammate he ever had who he hated. LOL
  22. I was at a wedding on Friday when the trade went down, and have pondered the trade since then. A couple thoughts... 1 - In a quantity for quality type of trade, it always feels good to get the best player in the deal. 2 - The Sabres gave up the 1st pick of the 2nd round in a "reported" good draft, Compher who had a really disappointing sophomore year at UofM, Grigs who while mishandled, has shown NOTHING at the NHL level that makes me believe he will ever be an impact player, and Zadorov who has tons of potential in all areas of the game, but clearly has some growing up to do. That being said, all have good potential, and you have to give something to get something. 3 - As I posted a couple weeks ago, be prepared for SHOCKING contract numbers. The Sabres have NO leverage, and I believe are about to get bent over by O'Reilly's agent. I wouldn't be surprised to see cap numbers approaching or even hitting 8 mil per year. 4 - I know little about McGinn other than looking at his stat line. Seems like a guy who had a career year two years ago with 19 goals. Two negatives...Back problems are bad for the normal person, let alone an athlete. Also, he is a UFA after this year.
  23. I'm not going to lose any sleep over Hodgson being bought out, but I do wish he would have been given one more year.
