The problem is the other GM's are going to come at him with swindling in mind, and he is going to be shaking in his boots when ultimatums are presented to him in terms of trades. I think because of that, he backs down(in terms of blockbuster moves)...which is probably a better thing than getting taken to the cleaners.

Holy ****. The media hype over the Jays playing here(BN and the local TV stations) is ridiculous. If I was a betting man, I'd bet the house that Adams is going to keep #8, and claim "build from the draft, youth movement, patience, blah blah blah..." This stance would keep him from not having to make a big trade while he is greener than green.

If you were a betting man, what odds would you give that Adam and his reduced hockey ops staff succeed? 25%, 50%? I don't think going with the no experience option for your #1 hockey ops guy, is going to sit well with the STH who have payed for crap over the last 10 years. If they think they have a financial problem now, wait until they start seeing crowds under 10,000. Prepare for a mass exodus of STH when fans are allowed back in. Hahahah. Some really knowledgable fans right there.

There were plenty of financial steps that could have been taken without being penny pinchers in terms of the GM position. Instead they hired a GM based on being a good boy who Kim and Terry like. Basically the success of the hockey team is now playing second fiddle to finances. Recipe for disaster.

Wait a minute. The Pegula's during their dismal decade of Sabres ownership, hired two guys as the GM who had no experience in the role of NHL GM, fired both of them, and then doubled down by hiring a guy who not only had no experience as an NHL GM, he has no experience working in an NHL front office on the hockey ops side of the business...and you can't find any criticism with that?

A good placeholder 2C, a 2nd line/3rd line winger, and a goaltending upgrade is a must for 20-21. Fail to accomplish this, and the Sabres are looking at another bottom 10 finish...the silver lining...Adams is so well liked by Kym that his job is safe no matter what crap he throws out on the ice.

It's both. If you don't think having "old school nastiness" in some of your players is a benefit, then we will agree to disagree.
