  1. agree...Carolina is everything we'd love the Sabres to be...certainly GMKA has made big strides towards that goal
  2. Luckily I trust GMKA to be very selective and careful. We do not need any more over priced and under-working FA's. Truth is, we are pretty well set on defense, and up front with Quinn and maybe JJ coming too I think we could use a good vet center for face-offs. Otherwise, sit back, be patient and take good players off of other teams that are in cap hell (see Vegas for starters)...
  3. Sabres were quite flat after Friday night's game but really showed class and talent coming back and obviously the refs did not like the fact we contested the goal they were dying to wave off that clearly was a goof goal as their guy knocked Mitts into their goalie (refs don;t like to be made look bad as happened there). The 2nd penalty was not a penalty at any point in the game (and especially with so little time left) . Anybody can see they ensured a Florida win. Great effort though and I still am not blown away by Florida.
  4. Agreed these lousy icing's where there is absolutely NO effort need to be stopped. I also note that Florida sure do shoot a lot and run up the shot totals with many pretty basic. I am not overly impressed by Florida and their defense is pretty bland and don;t think that even after giving away their 1st rounders for the next 50 years they are anywhere near good enough to win the cup. The whole mess called thew second period started when Bryson stumbled and gave the puck away that led to a deflating goal. Florida waits for mistakes then pounces on them, which is great today but can't see them getting far come playoff time (and they have given away their future for this year's team)...
  5. My God that was simply wonderful (the whole RJ banner raising thing)...I became a Sabre fan way back in 1971 when I followed Punch over from the Leafs. My late brother was a very good goalie in the Toronto system who came up and played back-up a few times with the big team and was the Marlies starting goalie for several years. He got me free tickets for all home Marlie games at the old Gardens and IO was lucky to meet so many players both then in the NHL and future NHLer's. When Punch left to go to Buffale I followed him and have been a fan (for better or worse) for 51 years. I can say that there have been so many amazing memories and I cried non-stop through the amazing tribute to RJ and the video that included so many of those great memories! Thank you RJ and TY Sabres for such a fitting and outstanding tribute to truly an amazing announcer )and person). Love you RJ...
  6. Gonna be a tough game but I am hoping we win every game left that RJ calls!
  7. Crazy to think that would be like our 3rd line! Future is bright for sure and we can see the results of GMKA's reconstruction. So glad he cleared house and seems to be doing this the right way with character players. Great win for RJ!!!
  8. Unfortunately Vegas came back to beat Hawks in OT...Jack scored tying goal in third and oddly the guy they tired to trade scored OT winner. I gotta admit I hate those Boston announcers...Sportsnet bring the Bruins a lot and always have those knobs announcing. They are really hard to listen to
  9. Already hear that it may be drug OD...big difference between Neil Peart (my favorite drummer by far) if that is the case as Neil died of natural causes (cancer) while Taylor like Dave's old bandmate destroys themselves using drugs. Stupid waste of life...so sad for his family wife of many years and two kids
  10. NHL had officially cancelled trade of Evgenii Dadonov. That sure is a major mistake by Vegas' brass. Many thought that their management was so smart the way they did so well on the expansion draft but truth is they got a pile of great things handed on a silver platter which was Not the case for Seattle after other GM's learned)). This shows they are are not the geniuses some thought they were. This makes me so happy!!!
  11. anyone know when Casey will be back? miss him. Oh and didn't Butcher come over from the Devils? Strange
  12. Did we move Butcher too? I did not hear that one. Either way I kinda liked Hagg as he was somewhat physical. Lord help us if one or two of our d-men get hurt...we got no one left!
  13. two 1st rounders??? I get that Tampa's picks will be way up there but still giving away 1st rounders just as Florida is doing defies logic...
  14. Geez Vegas is becoming one big mess...good work Jack you took the curse with you. An dyes that 1st rounder is looking better every day. Hard to believe Vegas wil be forced to dump some really good players to clear cap space for Jack.
  15. I too hate Vegas and their smug attitude. They got everything handed to them in their expansion deal and were made to look like geniuses. Of course Seattle sure did not get anywhere near what Vegas hauled in as managers learned from their mistakes ( a rare event indeed). Looks good on Vegas now losing and probably thinking or wondering if they made a BIG mistake trading for Jack. I am very pleased with the return and they will only get better (plus we have draft picks too)
  16. Does anybody really miss Jack? Or Sam? Or Risto? I am so glad they did what they did with the team. They are fast, entertaining, and even have heart!!! When was the last time we could say that? Probably back when we had Danny Briere Peca etc... As for announcers, up here in Canada we had Sportsnet guys trying their best to make the Leafs sound good and the Sabres whatever. Toronto is starved for any kind of success from their hockey team and again this year the team started great and got their hopes up. Now it seems they are on the same path as every other year. Clearly defensively they are a mess and are spending far too much on a few guys (and an aging Traveres at 10 or 11 mill is absurd). They play with absolutely no defensive system and of course they always blame goaltending. One way or the other, what great win (again).
  17. Just another example of how little class the guy has. I was waiting for him to pull his usual temper tantrum at the end and break his stick over the goalpost after he gave away the puck at the end there. I actually feel we are a better team without him and am so glad we got what we did. The return was great and the future does look good for this team. Every time we get good goaltending we are competitive. I also fear Jack is one good hit from suffering a further serious injury. Good riddance is all I can say! Oh and the fans (including me) are maybe the most passionate in the NHL. To bitch about them is pathetic. Just no class whatsoever...
  18. What a strange twist of fate with the schedule...Sam tonight and Jack Thursday! I don;t care too much about Sam as he is just Sam, quietly putting up his numbers. I sure do hope we beat Florida but more so I hope we beat Vegas.
  19. Boy LA sure are boring...never thought I'd see the good old New Jersey trap used again. Oh well should be fun with Jack back in town Thursday!
  20. For sure a really valuable asset if he can add grit with any sort of skill. Basically though I just want Marcus back (and Nic too!).
  21. My cousin's step-son is Michael Bunting who is a really good player and may win rookie-of-the-year. I have hated the Leafs for many years but do like seeing him do well. I liked Bunting when he played last summer for Team Canada overseas and had hoped the Sabres would sign him but he of course wished to sign with Toronto (he is from Scarborough which is a huge city within Toronto). I do however hope the Sabres kick the Leafs' a^^...
  22. totally agree...they can have him. I really like what both Tuch and Krebs bring, we have a 1st round pick and yes Tage is on fire and most importantly Skinner has shown he is still capable goal scorer...
  23. I remember when we had guys who could fight and add some excitement to the game..oh wait that was Nicolas. And Marcus. Would love to have both back
  24. I know that it is typical to rant and rave and put down players all the time but I think it is obvious OV is hurting and clearly his shot isn't as hard as it was but with time that will return. Some have gone on how we should dump him for whatever we can get but he is young and clearly when healthy a good player. He is just a piece in what wil become a big puzzle soon with all the fine young players we have that will be on the big team in the next few years. Another nice win that clearly shows that after my greatest fear of Jack being traded for basically nothing we did really well and still can look forward to using the 1st round pick as well. Hell if we win the lottery we will be really set for the future (either way we wil get another good prospect next draft)...I am thinking positive about the team for first time in a long time. I think we have seen that the team can and will be better and get wins if they get NHL goaltending, something they have not had in many years.
  25. Pretty much a throw away by Montreal..they are a complete mess and make our organization look downright excellent! The sad thing about the Habs is they really do not have any great prospects in great numbers either so their future sure is bleak...
