  1. crazy to see all the good young players we suddenly have to rave about...and the big team sure has some nice talent too. Seems not so long ago the team was a colection of could-be's and wannabe's but certainly not many actual doers. I simply cannot see how anybody cannot look at the big picture now and really like what KA has done to stock the organization in a short time. And it will only get better...
  2. What a great debut! Can't help but wonder why the goalie coach (whoever that is) has not worked on UPL's positioning and more importantly his rebound contrrol (or lack thereof). Levi does not allow those nasty rebounds that we see UPL allowing over and over. Levi played lots in college and should be up to play the last remaining games? What do we have to lose? On to Philly
  3. He DOES look cool...what a great story iof a guy drafted in the 6th round that actually may make it to the big show...
  4. Agreed kinda nice that games actually had some meaning this late in March. So anyways I must say that up here in the Great White North bloody Sportsnet must be in love with the Bruins..they have them on over and over and there is nothing worse then seeing the B's that much except having to hear their absolutely terrible announcers. I get that most announcers are biased and such but they are so bad it gets to a point where I simply cannot listen to them anymore. And on another note I really cannot see the NHL no thaving Cindy in the playoffs. It must be hard for the league to see OV not getting in either. While we lament our beloved Sabres and there is endless amounts of doom and gloom posted (especially after a lose), Washington is a mess. Not very good and aging and have traded so many draft picks for older guys that they have so veryu few prospects now. Just like the Leafs are doing now. That mentality has to catch up to you at some point. Clearlythat terrible GM the Leafs have is afraid to lose his job and is giving away far to much to try and save his a** and win a playoff series. Sure hope they get smoked in the 1st round again as usual...
  5. I agree 100% with this...th eteam sure was exciting when they scored but clearly need to tighten up...and yes it is possible to teach a offensive player defense but one cannot teach that scroign touch many of the team have...
  6. Wow that sure says it all...clearly we need that good goaltending and team defense to keep goals against down. We now we can score...
  7. It is not just you...I was amazing when I logged on this monring (Sunday) and there were so few post of this game...when they lose there are far more. All is not doom and gloom with this team. I get that they are up an ddown but so are all the other young teams (actually almost every team is up and down this year as we consistently see teams far down in the standings beating teams higher in the standings. Even Chicage had a 4 or 5 game winning streak there a while back. Anyways I like where this team is headed...some minor tweaking and things are looking good for the future...
  8. Must say that was pretty bad yet again...maybe we bring up Subban and get UPL back to Rochester to get some sort of confidence back? Absolutely true that other young teams such as Ottawa and Detroit are really struggling as well (and they apparently have competent coaches and GM's where ours I keep hearing are no good and do not know what they are doing). All is not doom and gloom and this is actually part of the learning curve. While these players have indeed experienced pressure during their younger years playing AAA hockey, it is now against men. Most of this team are still growing and clearly being pushed around by much more experienced men. Th efew "vets" are not capable of mustering up any sort of help to try to inspire the team. One good thing is we are young, while teams like Washington and Pittsburg, who are losing lots too, are old and have little in the way of young players. They have given away so many draft picks that it is catching up to them now. This team is close and needs a vet d-man, some grit up front and a NHL goalie. Speakin of grit, isee why Minnesota gladly parted with Greenway...heck they got Reeves and the guy I wanted us to try and trade for (who we should have never traded in the first place)
  9. Totally agree that Greenway has been a major disappointment (and I still say we traded with the right team but wrong player). As I said in my earlier post this team is pretty-much a carbon-copy of their coach...nice guys (and we know where they finish). It is one thing to lose but to have an ex-Sabre showboat and show us up is pretty sad. I have no use in having another GAG if that is all Greenway is. I was disappointed we took out Jost...he is not as big but has a bigger heart. I was convinced Donnie would get the team fired up for the 2nd period and instead they looked no different. As stated earlier well-coached teams can beat us pretty-well every time. Teams that try to skate and scorre with us (like TO) we can beat. Seems strange KA addressed the need for toughness apparently then suddenly the tough guy turns into marshmellow right before our eyes. Oh man and don't get me going on goaltending...hell even the old man looks like he's is out of gas. 5 goals on like 22 shots by a team that has few goal scorers? Yikes...
  10. I sincerely hope Tage is playin hurt cause he looks awful. Without that line scoring we are doomed. Dahlin looks bad too. And whiel we traded with the right team we got the wrong guy...I wanted Marcus back soooooooo bad. Then we'd have someonen who would answer the bell and who can play well enough to not be a liability. meanwhile, I do think th eteam has become what their coach is...a nice guy with seemingly no fire in him. The team takes losing far to easily and he clearly just does same. Throw some cliches around and make excuses but at the end of the day nice guys usually finish last (we are not there yet but seem to be trending that way). We needed coach to go into locker room and rip a piece off of the team and in turn see the team come out an dplay with much more passion and drive in 2nd. We also need the coach to change the goaltenders when they are clearly costin us yet another game not worry about hurting their feelings. Somewhere between Torts and Granato there must be a happy medium. I too (as someone pointed out earlier) was 13 when the team was born and I have followed this team through thick and thin ever since. I only hope we can make the playoffs once before I die.I really thought maybe this year but clearly there are far too many factors at work right now. They look like a bunch if tired kids. Injuries are taking their toll. And goaltending...
  11. Wow great Candian content (Headstones, Hip...). Went to 54-40 with Northern Pikes opening at casino last Saturday. 54-40 are very good in concert. Starship with Mickey Thomas and Collective Soul next concerts for us!
  12. Isles win 6-3...Ducks all in to get Connor...
  13. If you read the whole story it belonged to a disabled fellow who was at the bar and apparently the bar was not wheelchair accessible and washrooms were down bottom of the stairs so his friend actually carried him down the stairs so the disabled fellow could use the bathroom. They left the wheelchair at the top of the stairs and put out of the way so when they returnhed it would be there.
  14. Just watched this and being disabled myself find this behaviour so disturbing. No excuse for what he did here..his Dad must not be happy... . https://ca.yahoo.com/sports/news/son-of-flyers-gm-daniel-briere-allegedly-damages-wheelchair-in-disturbing-video-165849544.html
  15. or perpatuity ( I think he meant to spell perpetuity). Yep you have come to the wrong place if you are looking for proper gramrer and spelling LOL
  16. Obviously it is not easy to put together a really good defense or teams like Edmonton and Toronto who have been trying fior years would be better then they are now. Truth is we have a far better core of good young d-men then most teams but it will take time. KA is not going to add bodies just for the sake of adding new bodies into the imix...tough to call who KA may pursue but I do trust his judgement (or I guess we have to). Goaltending will also be an interesting situation. Hopefully Levi will come and save the day but he is young and goalies typically take longer to be NHL ready...
  17. Fact does remain that we are a team loaded with young guys with a few vets thrown in whereas these other teams are vet teams with a few young guys thrown in. Someone rightly pointed out that Power has far exceeded the amount of games he has played in last few years and yes the young guys looked gassed. That is not an excuse but rather the plain truth. This is a long grind to the finish line and without key players (Tuch) and with many clearly hurt (Dahlin among others) and with obvious need in goal we are what we are. Still like this team and it's future...just needs some work which I think we all know is pretty clear. There is no way KA or Meatballs does not see these obvious needs too.
  18. Ah man I want a win so bad...been far too much negativity on here with two loses in a row...like it when they win and everybody is happy. I am happy with this season and how the team is playing, and more importantly the future! Clearly they are on the right path and it wil take time but they sure have come a long way in a short amount of time! heck last year I could not hardly watch at times but this year win or lose they are entertaining and right there with the other teams. Clearly their average age is far below most other teams and it shows of course but at least we don't have to endure Jack's pathetic temper tantrums.
  19. Just seeing that video of two idiots fighting in the crowd and seeing that guy really get hurt reminds me of so many times while I played hockey (many many years ago!), coached for many years, and also when my son was playing, recalling all the parents in the stands cursing and swearing and fighting with each other at games with kids as young as 8 or 9 playing. It is so sad that it leads to that. That video posted earlier is a sad reminder that while these people rarely ever actually hurt each other, there is that chance it could and may happen. They sure do put forward a great example for their kids to follow. No wonder the world is such a angry, dark place these days. Mind you that kind of sad and pathetic behaviour existed long before today...I recall my late brother playing back in Toronto and against other teams in other cities way back in the early 70's and they were fighting in the stands then. makes me sad and sick...and it goes on in other sports too (soccer is really bad)
  20. Nothing much has changed over the years when it comes to officiating...that was NOT a goal. I was watching the Laughs at Jersey and boy did the Leaf goalie ever keep them in the game in the 1st. Meanwhile, Jersey looks so small and were getting hammered around by the Leafs and while Jersey did get ahead eventually the Leafs wore them down and won in the third. Jersey have come a long way but they are a small team that plays small but have good success. We are a bigger team them them but play small as well but I like to think with time we will mature and start to play a more physical game when necessary. It is hard to win in this league these days as virtually every team is capable of beating any other team on any given night (see Chicago 5, Ottawa 0) and there are two things you must get to win consistently...goaltending and no crappy officiating. Our goalies have been inconsistent at best and we never get the good calls period. Tough to overcome that fact...either way I do think KA would have traded for the d-man everybody wanted so bad if Arizona would have taken the same form us as they took from Ottawa. Either way that trade sure didn't help Ottawa versus Chicago...
  21. All goes back to when Sabres were bitter at draft after being robbed on that goal Hull scored that never shloud have been allowed to win the cup for them. I heard Bobcat a sports guy up here in Canada talking about it and even he said that it is clear that the NHL resents the Sabres and clearly the refs do not call anything in our favor as revenge. Funny cause all the team's personnel from owner to GM coach and players are all gone yet we still get lousy referring. I also have toi believe that NHL wants Cindy and OV in playoffs before the Sabres...
  22. Never thought I'd see the day they gave any player that much...they always seemed to get players on "value" contracts but not this time.
  23. See Bruins just announced signing Pastrnak to huge 8 year $90million contract!!! Surprised Boston gave that much...
  24. would a good defense coach not help or maybe even solve the problem? Lots of good coaches out there.
