  1. So suddenly Vancouver is a cup contender, Ottawa absolutely destroys Florida and Montreal still can't win a game? Crazy stuff these days in the NHL. As for Toronto I still think they will lose come playoff time; lack of goaltending and defense will kill them yet again.
  2. Pretty obvious that any team that can and will succeed needs a bonafide number one center who is either captain or at very least a leader and is or is close to superstar status...Jack was suppose to be that guy but now this team desperately needs to be able to draft a stud next year so I have no doubt this is a tank disguised as a "putting in time until our young guys are ready" thing. I have no doubt we are also waiting for those young guys to be ready but after the complete mess of our goaltending situation clearly KA does not care about winning this year. There is no possible way he (KA) can be that naive or stupid to really believe this team can win many games with the goalies he has signed. I am kinda surprised he didn't re-sign old one-eyed Hutton mind you...
  3. afraid to ask but did Ryan retire? I really think short term he would be far better then anybody we have now, come cheap and he really ought to retire a Sabre. Hell he is far younger then Anderson and he was our best goalie. Worth a shot and he deserves to retire here...
  4. and apparently that is exactly KA's plan. Sad part is that any hope, life and fun this team has will be sucked right out of them losing game after game. Only difference is that when previous GM's tanked, it was clear and obvious. KA is trying to tank without being completely open and obvious about it. And people wonder why this team has such a poor mindset and accepts losing. The tradition continues...
  5. I do wonder how much better Linus would be over what we have now in terms of results? And I must admit I cannot see spending huge amounts of money on a goalie when the team is not "expected" to win (this team has far surpassed my expectations already to be honest)...
  6. I find it absolutely impossible to believe that KA does not think ewe need real goaltending and that the names he added this past summer are anywhere near being capable NHL goaltenders. There is no other explanation other then to acknowledge that he and they are actually tanking yet again. Can there be any other explanation? I'd love to hear it from KA. Does he really expect us to believe he actually has faith in these goaltenders he has signed? I also agree that bad goaltending weighs heavily on a team and it will really hurt their development and confidence as the season goes on. Poor management...
  7. actually we played like we knew our goaltender is awful and should not be in the NHL...if we had Joker or Anderson we would have played with far more confidence (and would have won easily)
  8. Yes we Canadians can now enter the US but must have a test to show we are COVID free to re-enter Canada which is kinda dumb and wil stop a lot of us from coming down to visit our friends to the south.
  9. totally agree...funny many do not want to say Pittsburg tanked yet are so quick to criticize Buffalo for doing so. It worked for Pittsburg obviously with a bunch of cups as I guess they did it right (if there is a right or wrong). It seems no matter who Pittsburg throw out there they do well (eg: Rodrigues has become a top 6 forward with them).
  10. With Chicago in a complete mess I think they would be more then open to trading Kane and being a Buffalo native he certainly would give us something to get excited about. Not sure what the price would be but I think it would give us a top forward we really need. Otherwise maybe we really are tanking and would have no interest.
  11. Arizona gets the win! I do like Johan and agree hopefully he'll get moved to a playoff team
  12. In the end the Sabres and KA clearly stayed the course were patient and got exactly what he was after. We have to live with the fact we will never win this trade unless Jack either does not ever play again or regresses badly and is not the guy we saw in his first few years. He will rack up huge points on Vegas but will always be one hit from suffering a career-ending injury. And the team and the locker room is clearly a better place without him. Can Dahlin be far behind? Should we try to move him? I think KA will be a busy guy come trade deadline.
  13. Oilers are going great and apparently Ceci & Keith are playing well on defense which is amazing in itself. Still not sold on the Oilers but they sure are fun to watch!
  14. absolutely no doubt they are tanking big time then will add Mathews in a few years (please don;t tell me NHL can;t see that). We should easily finish ahead of them but should be close for 2nd overall pick between us, Wings Habs (although they will probably get going again at some point) and Seattle. We should get another good piece at 2nd 3rd or 4th overall next year
  15. if we ever needed any proof that Arizona is without doubt tanking so they can draft that stud 1st then add Mathews in a few years we got the proof when they signed Carter Hutton!
  16. Now we have a retired d-man we are paying til the end of year and he makes good money...they clearly do not want to spend much right now so instead iof spending on Boychuk to get to the cap floor at least spend it on a center
  17. no...we could really use a vet center right now unless we are tanking
  18. would have much preferred to get a veteran center with that money
  19. stop making sense will ya'...we really needed to add an experienced center as both a player but more importantly a leader. Still like where we are headed
  20. Florida is off to t 6-0 start and their first goal Monday versus Arizona was scored by (wait for it...) Joe Thornton from Sam Reinhart and Brandon Montour!
  21. I think we know Anderson is a seasoned veteran and that what he has done thus far is no "flash in the pan" like so many other goalies who do great one year then fade quickly from grace. His story is one of perseverance and perseverance and there is absolutely no reason to think he will not keep giving us the goaltending we have not had since RM... there were so many games over the past few years we should have won but goaltending let the team down over & over and exGMJBotto's answer was Hutton ('nough said)
  22. They sure are a mess...Marner has suddenly gone AWOL and Traveres is slowing down with age and my cousin's Stepson Michael Bunting is just about the best player for the Leafs and he makes about a tenth what the big 3 are making (Nylander isn't far behind either). I was hoping we'd sign Bunting even before I found out he was my couz's stepson. Defense is non-existant which doesn't help (their forwards included).
  23. My feeling too. So, I can;t help but wonder if we continue yet another rebuild and give away Jack after having given away Sam do we have anywhere near enough talent to even be competitive in the near future? We certainly have no one to replace Sam's consistent year-after-year games played, goals scored and points and also his leadership qualities (he led by playing hard every shift of every game and performing at both end's of the ice). Next I have no doubt Jack will be gone for a underwhelming package of various hockey-related things that will not include anybody capable of coming near to rep;lacing what he delivered and what he can deliver when and if healthy. What will be left? Young guys that skate hard and try hard and other then that there is nobody to be a star and to lead the team. Seems to be some good hopeful prospects but that does not equate necessarily to a NHL career as we all know. To try and compare any rebuild with other team is dangerous and/or useless as teams that do rebuilds typically have one or two clear stars to lead the team. Can anybody say who will be these two for the Sabres? I was hoping Sam & Jack but when they are gone I don;pt see anybody even close to them two.
  24. Got to think there is no real good offers on the table or KA would have pulled the trigger by now. Might as well complete the dumpster fire sale but I think it is safe to say other teams are very cautious to wait and see how the whole injury thing plays out. The old he-said he said thing between doctors is rather misleading and no other team is going to even consider making a play for Jack unless a) his health is cleared (which is won't) or b) they have their own doctors examine Jack to give a estimate as to when he will be able to play again (if ever). Can see nothing happening for a while until something is 100% established as to his health. What a complete mess this team has become. Tanking for years to get a "generational" player (we obviously hope to get McDavid but Jack was also suppose to be close to if not a generational player too) and lose all kinds of good players as they bail from a team that does not want to win and can see this is a sinking ship and now we are desperate to get rid of the player we tanked for (we already got rid of the other guy we tanked for Sam who was a really good player and very consistent with games played and goals & assists).
