  1. Hate to say this but yes JE is playing great there and it is scary to think that he (Jack) might very well be the 2nd ex-Sabre to win the cup and the Conn Smythe trophy too!
  2. Not sure if Kane would be "free" but should not cost too much seeing how they gave away a pile of young good players already/ This team needs a veteran who can spark and lead the team and Kane would be perfect right about now being a cup winder multiple times
  3. In the Sabres' defense almost every game now is unpredicatable...suddenly St Louis is winning again and Columbus took down Florida last night. Please send us Patrick Kane...need a spark and he would do that for sure
  4. It is time to pursue Kane from Chicago and sign Trots as assistant coach to "help out" Granato (which of course would actually mean Trots would be coach with Granato "helping out")
  5. One can also assume that I am not alone when I say that I miss going to my beloved Sabres' games, but being Canadian, I simply cannot afford to get a passport that I now need to cross into the US, and also the price of tickets and of course gas which is absurd wherever you go. I know for sure that there use to be lots of us from Canada coming down, but I am sure many are in the same boat as I am not being able to afford al the related cost of driving down for a game. I miss going...
  6. does anybody think this is good management... For Matthew Tkachuk, 20 games of Claude Giroux and Ben Chiarot, the Florida Panthers traded: - Jonathan Huberdeau - MacKenzie Weegar - Former Top 10 pick (Owen Tippett) - 1st round pick (23) - 1st round pick (24) - 1st round pick (25) - 3rd round pick (24) - 2 Prospects
  7. typical of the Leafs to let their only real good defensive-defensman go free at a very reasonable amount of contract...this is exactly the kind of guy they need more of not less...great signing for us for sure
  8. Crazy how bad he turned out...at least we got a really good young defenseman for him
  9. Yep revolving goalies and revolving coaches...everything is so predictable. Toronto have blamed their goalies for as long as I can remember and that will not change with Murray. So Dubas gets rid of one really bad goalie contract then acquires another? Great work there...
  10. sure looks like ROR and St. Lou are hitting their stride at the perfect time...
  11. agree...Carolina is everything we'd love the Sabres to be...certainly GMKA has made big strides towards that goal
  12. Luckily I trust GMKA to be very selective and careful. We do not need any more over priced and under-working FA's. Truth is, we are pretty well set on defense, and up front with Quinn and maybe JJ coming too I think we could use a good vet center for face-offs. Otherwise, sit back, be patient and take good players off of other teams that are in cap hell (see Vegas for starters)...
  13. Sabres were quite flat after Friday night's game but really showed class and talent coming back and obviously the refs did not like the fact we contested the goal they were dying to wave off that clearly was a goof goal as their guy knocked Mitts into their goalie (refs don;t like to be made look bad as happened there). The 2nd penalty was not a penalty at any point in the game (and especially with so little time left) . Anybody can see they ensured a Florida win. Great effort though and I still am not blown away by Florida.
  14. Agreed these lousy icing's where there is absolutely NO effort need to be stopped. I also note that Florida sure do shoot a lot and run up the shot totals with many pretty basic. I am not overly impressed by Florida and their defense is pretty bland and don;t think that even after giving away their 1st rounders for the next 50 years they are anywhere near good enough to win the cup. The whole mess called thew second period started when Bryson stumbled and gave the puck away that led to a deflating goal. Florida waits for mistakes then pounces on them, which is great today but can't see them getting far come playoff time (and they have given away their future for this year's team)...
  15. My God that was simply wonderful (the whole RJ banner raising thing)...I became a Sabre fan way back in 1971 when I followed Punch over from the Leafs. My late brother was a very good goalie in the Toronto system who came up and played back-up a few times with the big team and was the Marlies starting goalie for several years. He got me free tickets for all home Marlie games at the old Gardens and IO was lucky to meet so many players both then in the NHL and future NHLer's. When Punch left to go to Buffale I followed him and have been a fan (for better or worse) for 51 years. I can say that there have been so many amazing memories and I cried non-stop through the amazing tribute to RJ and the video that included so many of those great memories! Thank you RJ and TY Sabres for such a fitting and outstanding tribute to truly an amazing announcer )and person). Love you RJ...
  16. Gonna be a tough game but I am hoping we win every game left that RJ calls!
  17. Crazy to think that would be like our 3rd line! Future is bright for sure and we can see the results of GMKA's reconstruction. So glad he cleared house and seems to be doing this the right way with character players. Great win for RJ!!!
  18. Unfortunately Vegas came back to beat Hawks in OT...Jack scored tying goal in third and oddly the guy they tired to trade scored OT winner. I gotta admit I hate those Boston announcers...Sportsnet bring the Bruins a lot and always have those knobs announcing. They are really hard to listen to
  19. Already hear that it may be drug OD...big difference between Neil Peart (my favorite drummer by far) if that is the case as Neil died of natural causes (cancer) while Taylor like Dave's old bandmate destroys themselves using drugs. Stupid waste of life...so sad for his family wife of many years and two kids
  20. NHL had officially cancelled trade of Evgenii Dadonov. That sure is a major mistake by Vegas' brass. Many thought that their management was so smart the way they did so well on the expansion draft but truth is they got a pile of great things handed on a silver platter which was Not the case for Seattle after other GM's learned)). This shows they are are not the geniuses some thought they were. This makes me so happy!!!
  21. anyone know when Casey will be back? miss him. Oh and didn't Butcher come over from the Devils? Strange
  22. Did we move Butcher too? I did not hear that one. Either way I kinda liked Hagg as he was somewhat physical. Lord help us if one or two of our d-men get hurt...we got no one left!
  23. two 1st rounders??? I get that Tampa's picks will be way up there but still giving away 1st rounders just as Florida is doing defies logic...
  24. Geez Vegas is becoming one big mess...good work Jack you took the curse with you. An dyes that 1st rounder is looking better every day. Hard to believe Vegas wil be forced to dump some really good players to clear cap space for Jack.
  25. I too hate Vegas and their smug attitude. They got everything handed to them in their expansion deal and were made to look like geniuses. Of course Seattle sure did not get anywhere near what Vegas hauled in as managers learned from their mistakes ( a rare event indeed). Looks good on Vegas now losing and probably thinking or wondering if they made a BIG mistake trading for Jack. I am very pleased with the return and they will only get better (plus we have draft picks too)
