  1. I loved when we smoked Vegas (oh and then we beat them in Vegas 5-2 as well)...and we beat Colorado and the Oilers in a game where we had to beat them twice. There were other good ones as well...heck we even beat your beloved Bruins twice
  2. Strange that we all kinda agreed that last year if the team had had competent goaltending they woul dhave been in the playoffs easily as they lost manyt games last year from sheer poor goaltending. This year, they have had good goaltending from UPL for the most part (certainly from the beginning of the new year) and yet they are worse then they were last season. I woul dhave thought they would have a significantly better record yet they have regressed badly. No excuse for that. Many clamoured for better defense, but where has that got us? I preferred last year's team that was at least exciting win or lose. This year they are just boring. I am so ready to see a new coach and the team bringing in some grit an deven a fighter if need be to bring some kind of life an denergy to the ice. They sure could have used that last night. I was tired of the fighting but at this point if it lifts the team and brings some energy then so be it...
  3. kinda saying that when the Sabres are good, they are real good (mind you when they are bad like against Ottawa they are real bad)...
  4. Crazy how the "good" teams keep losing to "not-so-good" teams; case in point...Colorado lose at home to Montreal while Edmonton lost to Otttawa a few nights ago. Tough to try and figure out who will win on any given night these days, which I suppose os good for the NHL. Also points to the fact that on those nights when we think the Sabres are "not showing up", it may also be a case of the other team wanting it more and/or playing a kind of system that shuts down the Sabres.
  5. Feel so bad and sorry for those poor souls that happened to be on the bridge at that precise monent of impact. Absolutely horrible...
  6. Isn't it his contract year? How many times have we seen that...player has huge year gets big contract and all life happily ever after (except of course their production then drops way off and they are traded for a bag of hockey pucks and someone to be named later to Arizona with some other team retaining half the player's salary)...
  7. Boy Calgary sure are a mess...and they can thank the wonderful Treliving for that...who of course was fired then imediately hired by the Leafs like he was some sort of GM -God...funny how GM's and coaches get recycled over and over. On another note, this was a goo dwin and they are still methemtically in the hunt though Washington is really pushing hard. Would have to beat the Caps both games we play them in April for any chance. I do worry that thus wil only give cause for GMKA to spew how th eteam showed promise and were "almost there" and it'll be another year of Meatballs and his merry clan of assistants (oh man that is a scary thought...)
  8. Yep they will probably finish strrong to give everyone hope and save everybody's jobs for next year and cue KA to say that "we made good progress and next year should be even better: blah blah blah... but on the other hand (as Randy Travis once said)...maybe there is still some hope
  9. Totally agree that this "comning close" every year is only serving the purpose of give false hope to all of us and gives KA more reason to keep meatballs and his coaching staff. Yep we have players that apparently want to be here but as noted are we any better?
  10. Meatballs does not have the drive adn passion that many good coaches have....also it is clear that there are no repercussions if a player does not give their all every shift. Try taking off a bunch of shifts like our tream does with Torts...haha
  11. The pressures that those "enforcers" faced game after game, of knowing that they had to fight the other guy who was huge and dangerous, clearly was a big reason why they would rely on booze and/or drugs to keep them from completely falling apart from that pressure. To say that taking numeruous punches to the head does not lead to eventual dangerous repercussions is absurd. I get that some of you defend fighting as "part of the game" to support your agenda but you should go out there and try taking on some guy that is 6'6" and two hundred and fifty pounds of muscle. Mind you I still find it amazing that Tie Domi, who took numerous nasty punches and laughed, is still seemingly "normal" whatever that is...
  12. Same old "boy the other team sure played bad"...I suppose some think that is the only way the Sabres can win a game apparently. Funny never heard a thing when the Sabres played absolutely horrible and that was the only reason Detroit beat us. I like to think that when this team is playing they make the other team look bad. They have proven they are a very good team when they are on. I love when they just steamroll over teams. They do have that abiility and have even done it to good teams such as Vegas and hav ebeaten Colorado and Oilers so it is no fluke. Sometines it is hard to know which team will show up mind you but they are still a young team and learning to win.
  13. Gotta admit Krebs needs to go bye bye...that was a complete awful period. Funny how posters on here love to play down Sabres wins and say that the other team played poorly,.,,well the only reason Detroit is ahead is that the Sbres (other then the first ten minutes) have been comp[letely awful. Maybe it's the ice but puck is boucing and we cannot seem to make a pass...
  14. Ah man I hate the thought of Seattle or Vancouver or the Oilers pissing on our parade...I do not think we have even beat the Kraken yet have we? And Oilers wil b elooking to avenge us beating them recently. I also think we have no hope with Comrie in goal. Maybe Levi can help us through this stretch? Worth a try...
  15. Can't help but wonder if all these years KO was not a good leader for the team and now Byram is...team looks better by subtraction losing KO and the old man and adding Byram
  16. I am so down about this kind of crap going on and over and over we do not respomd. Mind you I see many games ( i watch any NHL game regardless of who is playing as I love hockey) and I see many times crap going on and more often then not the other team does not respond either. This is not a thing that happens only to the Sabres...I only wish we had someone like Marcus who can actuall yplay and answer the bell. They are hard to find mind you...
  17. As much as I have been raving about how they played lately I admit that is was not good...they shiukld NEVER let them run your goalie. No response is awful. Do we have anybody in the system that can fight when needed? Thought Krebs would stand up and be counted but guess not...
  18. Maybe detroit played poorly becuase the Sabres played well and did not allow Detroit to play well? When the Sabres are playing good they are very good like against Vegas 7-2 or Toronto9-3. There were many othr games where they were very good and goaltending is clearly the key thing. I am a positive person by nature and see tend to see positves in the team where many other posters only tend to see and speak of anything negative they can dredge up over and over. Kinda like that wash and rinse wash and rinse thing...
  19. Funny I woke up this morning and got on this board and started to look for the same old posters with their "oh Detroit sure were bad and the Sabres got them at the right time blah blah blah".... It is amazing that even when they play really good and win not becuase the other team had a off-night or were tired but that that Sabres werethe BETTER team period, same old posters have to make a positive somewhere into a negative. The team keeps proving with good goaltending they can win. I also think that sometimes minus can be a plus...we lost three players but gained one really good one and Byram is really good and a key piece moving forward. Not sure if we can sign him down the road (hope so) but for know the team is greatly improved with him in the lineup. Having played and coached for many years at many differnt levels (I'm old), it is essential that the team feel confident in their goalie. Does not matte rif it is even little boys or girls playing...UPL has become a key piece in the team's success...kudos to him
  20. Just heard Rempe suspended four games for that nasty elbow to the head...start of the end for the guy...
  21. Clearly Rempe will only make it and stay in the NHL by fighting and dirty crap...I have no interest in a one-dimensional player like this. Sabres need someone who can actually play anmd make a contrubtion but answer the bell when needed. Marcus was real good...
  22. Obviously we all show our disappointment and anger towards the team in different ways. Maybe becuase we have been following them for so long and know what it feels like to win and be a exciting team (remember that???) and now to go through years of pain and boring meaningless hockey gives us the right to rant now and then. Important to remember that there is no such thing as a wrong opinion...just a worng way to accept that person's opinion. I too think that there is a lot of comments and reactionsd towards others that is in poor taste and could be taken as offensive. In th eend we are all Sabre fans or we would not be here, and we certainly would not be enduring year after year of frustration and disappointment. On another note, already tired of hearing people lamenting the trade of Casey. Get over it...we got a top-2 d-man and clearly Casey wanted far more then we could give him. There was no eway KA made this move unless totally forced to do so. At thsi point we may as well stay the course. I do hope we can bring in a few fresh faces in the off season (likie grit and someone who can actually win a few faceoffs...oh don't tell me...we had one of the best faceoff guys and traded him right?)
  23. This is rather funny...I actually thought the date was a misprint but after checking Donald Breashear is still playing hockey (or rather fighting) at 52 years of age! Did not do too well but stil amazed he is still going...
  24. I was concerned at first about losing MItts but after seeing Byram I have no doubt now that this was a very good trade for us...the guy is a top 2 d-man and they are very hard to find (and very rare to get one in a trade for what can be classified as a 2nd line or 3rd line center). Now we desperately need to get at least one vet centermen for faceoffs. Man we sucked against the Oil on faceoffs...
