I have no problem with this. As much as we have kids in the wing ready to play, we still need some solid vets and even though he is not going to score a ton , he brings vet presence and leadership in spades and this team's player evolve around him and seem to try and emulate his habits. Sounds like a smart move with a cap friendly number is not a bad thing.

I can see Buffalo balking at signing an undersized dman. Especially after watching the team struggle against larger more physical forechecking teams. Personally i think they should still bring him on and go for another larger physical defensive dman via trade or FA

I am not going to crucify KA for this season. As much as i ranted about the same old problems this team has, i think KA is moving the right direction to right the ship. In a year where we were not even supposed to be in the race, the team was. We needed some grit, and at the deadline, we got that. Do we need more tweeks, yes, we do. I have no doubt some of those will be corrected before next season. Our goalie problem seems to have solved itself just by being patient. I still have faith in KA. I do think some things could have been fixed earlier, but i am not going to blame KA for making a lopsided trade to get a player that does not want to be in Buffalo, or has to seriously overpay.

Johnson is a smallish defensive dman. He is not flashy, does not score. He is defensively responsible. Is he the Sabres savior? No, but he will be a solid 4-6 guy that can be where he is supposed to be. Is it a huge loss if he does not sign? No. Is he what the Sabres need? Yes, and no. We need more defensively good players, but we also need some size to clear the front of the net and win board battles. Not sure he fits with that part, but still think he can help the team.
