Who is Murphy an upgrade for? If it is for Bryson or Clague then go get an LHD.

I don’t think Adams is planning on giving up any of them. If he can find a dman that can fit in long term he will look at it but I don’t think he intends to give prospects away for short term fixes.
-
Perfect for his development. Roy said he got tons of rubber in Junior because his team stunk and that really helped him develop as a goalie.

A perfect night on the scoreboard for the Sabres. A win and everyone else loses. -
The thing with Levi too is that his team does him no favours. It is not like he is playing behind a tight defensive system that doesn’t give up chances. 41 shots by a team like Vermont is eye popping. Levi is full value for his numbers and success.

A buddy of mine had a friend who was a physical fitness trainer for the Kings when Sutter was coach. He said everyday Doughty and them would sit around and rip Sutter mercilessly. They hated his guts. But they are all Cup champions. Those types of coaches work for teams that are competing for a Cup but need that final kick in the pants to get over the hump. They have a shelf life and if you aren’t competitive they are downright awful to play for.

Or move the draft to 19 years old and a drafted kid can play wherever they want. I know it won’t happen but it would help the CHL. One thing I didn’t know until I heard a recent interview with him is that Dahlin quit school at age 16 to turn pro in Sweden. He said over there it is like how the pro system worked here in the 60s. You get recruited at a young age to an organization and then you play for that system’s teams all the way up until you make the pro team.

Beyond just stat watching. Savoie’s deployment has been much different this season. He is playing much more on the PK and less time on the PP as they spread it out more with talent. His PP points are down compared to last year. With the talent the ICE have the offence is spread out. No one racks up 4 points a night like a Bedard. Lots of guys end up with 1 or 2 points. So even if Savoie’s stats are similar his game is evolving. One thing that isn’t mentioned with him is his strength at the dot. I think that is what keeps him in the middle when he moves up to pro. I would project him and Östlund A’s centres while Kulich slides to the wing.

Must Win😀 Huge stretch coming up this week so make sure they bank these points tonight. No letdown. -
Rags and Leafs 1sts should be 25-30 range so they are far from guarantees. They won’t speed up a rebuild but are assets that maybe valuable 3-5 years from now if they hit on them. I understand the deal I just don’t feel St Louis got enough value. Time will tell. They got quantity time will tell about quality. If ROR is revitalized for a playoff run and Acciari continues to play well this season then Dubas did a great job with this deal. Leafs are in a unique situation where they know their opponent before the TDL. How do they get past TB. I think these are big pieces for them but Dubas can’t stop here. He needs another quality dman. I don’t trust their goaltending going up against Vas either.

Chychrun and Crouse and Velmelka oh my😀 I do like the idea of Crouse riding shotgun with Cozens. Adds some size and grit to go along with goal scoring. And can stand in and be counted whenever Cozens mixes it up.
-
I understand that. I just don’t see the one piece that St. Louis got back that makes it worth retaining 50% on. The best piece is the first that will be very late. This looks like a deal where St. Louis was desperate to get rid of their captain rather than a deal where they had a prime asset and waited for that one piece they wanted. It is a quantity over quality trade especially since they threw in Acciari who is a valuable playoff piece. Maybe other teams think ROR is shot based on this season and didn’t want to offer anything of substance.
-
At first glance St. Louis retains 50% and didn’t get a lot back. Very late 1st, 2nd, 3rd, mediocre prospect and AHL fodder. ROR has had a bad year but has the playoff chops and as a 3rd line centre is a good fit.Acciari is very underrated to.

13 minutes left in the 2nd and the ICE are up 6-0. Yes, Savoie has gotten his 2 points for the night already, 1g, 1a

Does he start next year in Rochester really depends on if he comes in at the end of this year and leads them to the Cup.😁

Jakob Chychrun scratched for trade related reasons

Yes but Pegula was willing to step up with a mega offer. They were always going to go home to Minny but Pegula was all in IF anything changed. They left money on the table from Buffalo to go to Minny. -

Don’t forget they were in on Parise and Suter with huge offers. -

When they are competitive I absolutely believe Pegula will spend to the cap. -

These are his thoughts on the current Sabres situation😛 Most threads seem to just deteriorate into arguing about things that have nothing to do with the actual topic. I will be interested to see what thee winning package for Chychrun looks like. LA seems like the slam dunk fit but they can’t find a deal that works. -
Good listen with Bakes.

I think part of the inflation of Seattle by some is the fact they have manhandled the Sabres pretty easily. -
If Levi can become Miller-like then we could be looking at a 2005-7 Sabres type team but with all the big guns locked in long term😀
-
And he was much better at the WJCs then those 2 as well.

That would have been a tough pill to swallow. The first round has a chance to be special for them. Neuchev and Richard look like they could have homerun potential if things go a certain way in development. Komarov looks like an interesting piece on the backend as potential depth. Listening to Kris Baker, Leinonen seems to be dominant in his age group but no where ready for play in the Liiga men’s league. I probably wouldn’t have taken him second round but I’m not down on an 18 year old big athletic goalie. We will see what he is at 22. The Sabres need to add some size up front and quality depth on the backend with their prospect pool. I would like to see them take a run at a couple of the collegiate Dmen coming out as UFAs. Buffalo has got to be looked at as a destination for young dmen looking for opportunities.

Good post. Donny is a great developmental coach. Young players improve. The defensive structure and special teams have not been good. PP has had good stretches, PK has been bad for a couple years. They might need to look at changing up the assistant coaches to improve those areas. I don’t know if Granato’s philosophy is let the young players run and gun to get their confidence in the league and then we can look at locking things down but if they want to be a successful playoff team those areas are crucial to improve upon.
