UPL named NHLâs Rookie of the Month (UPLROTM)
Flashsabre replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Good for him. His development has been the nicest surprise this season. -
From 32 Thoughts: "10. As part of reshaping their franchise, San Jose is asking about goaltending prospects. They drafted OHL Sarniaâs Benjamin Gaudreau 81st overall in 2021. He was the backup on Canadaâs recent World Junior gold medallists, but the Sharks seek to add more depth." You could let the Sharks talk to Portillo's camp and see if there was interest. Or at the least throw him in as a piece on a potential trade and let them figure it out after the fact.

I donât know if this has been posted. It was recorded a little while ago (Dreger says Sabres are 6 points out of a wildcard spot). No bombshells but a really good listen about Adamâs mindset and such.
-
I donât want to see a bad move for a rental BUT this is the first time in 11 years that the Sabres are looking a playoff spot in the face after the new year. I would like a smart trade made that not only helps the team but shows the players and the fans that the organization is serious. It doesnât need to be Chychrun or Meier per say, but a player that could come in and be a part of the present and future runs.
-
Meier beside Cozens would be great. The cost to acquire him and more importantly the financial cost to keep him are the problems. As many have mentioned in a salary cap world you can only have so many guys making the big bucks. Tage, Skinner, Cozens, Dahlin, Power all have or will have contracts over $7 million. $8-9 for Meier will be hard to fit in long term.
-
I have seen in 3 or 4 different place people calling for Sabres to trade for Brock Boeser. My question is Why? I have never watched him play and come away impressed at all.
-
I would not want to see Levi, Savoie or Kulich moved. Outside of that anyone is expendable in the right deal.
-
And for all the complaining about Petersen, he flamed out in LA.

Are the Sabres out of the running for the playoffs?
Flashsabre replied to inkman's topic in The Aud Club
The Sabres have the toughest league schedule the rest of the way. Red Wings are second. They will have to earn it but they will be much better off for the playoffs if they do. -
Hypothetical: would you offer Montreal Oliver Nadeau for Luke Tuch? Nadeau is a big talented winger but the question is his wheels and would he be as effective as a pro. Tuch brings size and speed but not the offensive chops. He,like his brother, would be playing for the hometown team. He could fill a bottom 6 role with size, physicality and great wheels.

Yawn, another 2 point game for Savoieđ

Are people really ripping on UPL? LOL Which shootout goal was an easy stop that he missed? The Kaprizov one was a bad luck bounce. Gaudette made a hell of a move. Sometimes you have to take your hat off to the shooters. They just beat Hellebuyck, Oettinger and Sorokin. I guess those teams need goalies that can win them games too.𤣠-

Fantastic road trip. Keep getting points. Pens lost in regulation. -
Spoiler Alert: It was indeed garbageđ
-
Watching video on Neuchev when he was drafted he definitely has the âit factorâ to him. If he can develop the Sabres night have another future weapon.
-
Matthews out for 3 weeks. Do they give Dahlin the All Star nod or just hand it to Nylander?
-
So EK65 at 50% retained and Meier to Buffalo for Asplund and Portillođđ Spoiler Alert: This is a joke, I know this isnât a real legit offer. Calm downđ

Eichel thrown under the bus by Vegas HC Bruce Cassidy
Flashsabre replied to matter2003's topic in The Aud Club
When Krueger was coaching here I never ever thought I would use the argument âYeah but Eichel isnât playing with elite players right now like Jeff Skinner and Tage Thompson And Rasmus Dahlinâđ My God Ralph almost completely ruined the franchise. Granato needs a statue just for saving these guys careers and putting them on the right track. When Adams Fired Krueger and staff and named Granato intern coach I scratched my head. But it was a terrific move. His ability to develop young players and encourage them to play their game has been invaluable. -
Eichel thrown under the bus by Vegas HC Bruce Cassidy
Flashsabre replied to matter2003's topic in The Aud Club
A big reason for that is the angles he takes combined with his wheels. Last night he was PKing and he almost slowed down to allow Schiefele(I think) go by him. But he angled him up then accelerated and used his stick to take the puck away. -
Funny, my second favourite prospect after Savoie is Kulich. Guess that first round was alrightđ

Just think a couple years ago telling this board that the Sabres would be trading Eichel and it would be fine because Tage would turn into a more productive 1C for the team.đ The Eichel Trade will be an absolute home run for the Sabres when it is all said and done. Tuch is everything we could have ever asked for. Krebs is developing into a heart and soul energy centre with skill. Ăstlund is a real cerebral 200 foot player who will either play for the Sabres or can be used as a valuable trade chip. And we will find out what the 2nd rounder turns into this summer. -
Dahlin is the Sabres best player. Itâs crazy to think this franchise went 50 years without a franchise dman and we have 2 staring us in the face now. The way this team moves out of its end and throws the puck around is mesmerizing compared to the past decade of garbage.

I think Rousek and Kulich will be next to arrive. Savoie, Rosen, Ăstlund etc are a couple years away but those two seem the closest to making a push. Rousek will be 24 in April, older then a lot of the Sabres. He is a late round pick who had a devastating knee injury which slowed his development. He has tons of speed and skill. Could be a great energy player with hands. Kulich is only 18 but seems to be pushing. Two great WJCs and adjusting well to the AHL at 18, younger then when JJ and Quinn played there. He has a howitzer of a shot and seems to step up in big moments.
