  1. re: Dahlin - agree on what others have said on AAv. Mitts AAV is a little low Nick’s AAV might be OK but he’s not signing for two years. His guarantees will be more. All of your trades are lowballs and unrealistic. A graduate of the DR school of trade management I see. Heed the advice of Hoss from last week.
  2. Different levels of “bust potential” with both. Dahlin has displayed glimpses of greatness on offense, but similar train wreck qualities in his own zone still not resolved and displayed as recently as Thursday. So the term bust is used very loosely. Not outside a top 4, just not a #1 overall cornerstone piece. I cannot just hope these traits get fixed. And without a drastic improvement in such I would not commit term, hence my preference to a bridge. Diff’rent Strokes I guess.
  3. Sam’s first bridge deal was $3.6m (avoided arbitration). Not sure how Dahlin’s contribution in comparison would yield that much better. Number 1 overall selections tend to avoid arbitration but I can see this being a 2 year bridge deal with an AAV in the $4.5m-5m range. He has not earned a term of 6 years.
  4. Wish him all the best In retirement. A truly great Buffalo Sabre. I have so much in common with Ryan. We currently live in OC. We spent our formative years in the 716. And we both like to make ourselves “big”.
  5. The guy supposedly in charge kept Hutts. Nothing is certain next year.
  6. You need to visit So Cal - San Diego, LA or Orange Counties and have Carne Asada, Carnitas, or Pollo taco's. So many options on flavored tortillas, flour or corn. And the chips and salsa are always made fresh. Like hot, fresh out of the oil corn chips. Some places even press their flour tortillas fresh each night.
  7. Closer than you think. You also have to factor in region and quality of the pizza or tacos. For example, I live in Orange County CA and we have incredible options on authentic Mexican or Tex-Mex food. Pizza, not so much. Every time we have visitors from the 716 region, they never want to order a pizza. Conversely, when I visit my parents in Buffalo and my options are pizza vs taco's the decision is clear cut. Pizza 100%.
  8. There is just no sound logic in this line of thought. Sound familiar?
  9. How many second overall (Byfield) turn out to be a bust? It’s much more probable the prospect is a legit top 90 player than a bust. By a long shot. Granted you are resetting the timeline, but I’m strictly talking about talent. He’s crushing the AHL as an 18 year old out here in Ontario.
  10. Mofo War. The Thomas E. Dewy Thruway Series. #battleofNYS F the Blue Shirts!!!
  11. Absolutely serious. He slowed but did make contact, just with his backside. Angle in clip wasn’t great. Nice play.
  12. You don’t have to be big to make big hits. Sandin is 21 and 5’11. Nice player. And he’s a Rasmus, how is not on the Buffalo Rasmi?
  13. I’ll attempt to get you back on. And by no way am I suggesting he had a good game but consider this: 4 defensive zone starts and 8 defensive zone face-off’s. Dahlin in comparison took zero D face-offs and only 2 DZS. Risto took 5 Ozone face-offs, Joki and Dahlin had 11 each. Paired with a rookie playing his second game, and was caught on the ice multiple times with defenders like Joki and Bryson for extended shifts. Miller, Bryson, and Joki all had a worse xGA for the game 5v5. And Samuelson was extremely close. Multiple shifts he worked to clear the zone and exited before a forward registered a shot. One sequence occurred at the end of the second period where the Sabres had pressure including a scoring chance with less than 20 seconds remaining. He doesn’t get credit for being on ice for a SoG, but Bryson and Miller change (WTF - worst decision ever considering it’s the long change) and Boston’s gets two shots before Toker freezes it. Then with 8 seconds, the Bruins win the face-off (insert joke about the significance of this) and Bergeron almost scores to end the period. That’s three shots against. Not just shot attempts. In another sequence, where the Bruins score their second goal, it’s a defensive zone face-off the Sabres lose again followed by extremely poor play by Artu and Bjork to clear and then a poor save/kick in by Toker. He played well on the PK with almost 2 minutes on ice. Would have played more but was in the box for a dumb penalty against. He played 4 minutes on the PP and outside the abomination of the final 6-3, a few of the PPs looked much improved. This against the leagues best PK. And while I know you are carrying the proverbial cross on the Face-off crusade, the fact is losing 62% against a good team hemmed them in their own zone and allowed Boston to maintain possession throughout the game. No stats, just observation. On any given evening an NHL team is maybe losing 51-55% of face-offs. Losing 34 of 55 put them behind the eight ball all night. Six blocked shots isn’t a bad thing, as implied in the tweet. Kinda good. No stats on who he was on the ice with, but it seemed liked 3/4 lines. Asplund, Bjork, and Sheahan did not have good games. A few random thoughts why “underlying” stats can be deceptive.
  14. Much better effort lately on the Sabres power-play. Bruins have a very good Pk unit and the Sabres had good movement and ozone time.
  15. No reason to play Dahlin and Joki against that line.
