  1. Who'd you trade Mitts for?
  2. You know, the annoying thing is he's out in the Vegas community, hanging with youngsters, and his jerseys are apparently flying off the shelf. Quick reinvention.
  3. Draft AND develop, but yes, you definitely don't trade away your high picks and you do have to draft better than we did.
  4. and patience. First, the tank worked when there was no lottery. With a lottery, well, you see what happens. Second, you don't trade all your picks away for an instant surge like Murray did. You build the team with those picks. I'm really hoping this time we grow with those prospects we have and don't panic and start moving them out . I don't think we will do that this time. I think they've given KA a longer time line, but we shall see. I guess the question on the McDavid/tank thing is IF we'd drafted Draisaitl instead of Reinhart and gotten McDavid would we have been in the playoffs and would everything be good? Edmonton certainly hasn't gotten there (yet) . I guess we'd have been better, but idk I suspect we'd have a bad D and some other problems and maybe cap problems.
  5. ummmmmmmmm.................yes?
  6. I'm not going to disagree, but I'm still hoping. If not him, someone else, draft a few more. We got multiple picks next draft after all. We're stuck with Girgs Kyle and whatever at the moment but that line is sort of neither this nor that. On a team with a Krebs line a Mitts line a Tage line (or Cozens but I'm still thinking winger for him) we will need a big solid checking 4th line to throw out there time to time.
  7. Tage isn't going to be that guy. Cozens maybe. Quinn possibly. Peterka could be. Tage just doesn't have that in him so we have to use him for what he is, and I think they are.
  8. Yup, that's pretty much what I meant. His defense has been better. I was skeptical at first but I really think that shift to center (accidental by need perhaps) has been genius. He still doesn't use his big body to hit much or muscle people out of the way or anything but in the middle he's really using that reach and taking up a lot of ice making it hard for people to move around him and he gets pucks off of them often, it's quite effective and teams have to try to pass around that obstacle. It looks awkward at times, but it works.
  9. Both of those things are true. In terms of drafts imo I don't think we've paid enough attention to that in later rounds. We seem to like to reach for fast maybe under sized guys hoping to get a late overlooked talent where maybe we could get a few bigger guys who have fallen due to lesser skills or skating etc. Our drafts need to be more balanced too imo that's all. The hope is that that is phase 2 or 3 of a rebuild. Once we have the talent. Just hope it's not overlooked. Still hoping pesky Pekar can become a good 3rd 4th liner but overall not a lot of toughness in Rochester.
  10. That's not true. You want grit that can play a little. Tampa for example, signing Maroon was a significant move for them (among others). You want guys who add toughness, but are not liabilities.
  11. I sort of meant the most you'll see. maybe some 2nd unit PP time and such. Trying to be optimistic. Hoping that the prospects pan out and the top two lines are quite good and thus the current Thompson line could be moved down to being a 3rd line. If you think that way, we could actually turn into a really dynamic team. Dream baby dream!!!!!!!!!!
  12. 3rd line center. 20ish goal scorer. better than I expected from last year.
  13. That's part of it, but there is more to it as mentioned above. He needs to get stronger to really dominate in front of the net and in close. He has the right instincts and desire, but big NHL D men are basically owning him in front. He will get there, but I think it'd be better for him to play in the AHL and keep that style rather than learn adaptations for this in the NHL which will hurt his game in the long run.
  14. Watching Cozens I'm a firm believer that RW would be a better position for him all around. I'd really like to see them send him to Rochester so he can grow confident again and thrive alongside Krebs and the others. They may be making a mistake in rushing him making a judgement that he can handle it with his dedication and maturity level. I also think he still needs to beef up a little more. Not because he's small, but the style he likes to play demands it.
  15. True, the RHD issue is a real thing. Experimenting with Dahlin or others on the right side is a worthwhile plan in the interim.
  16. I doubt this happens. Unless there is a trade somewhere there's not a lot of FA goalies worth looking at next year. Unless Columbus doesn't want Korpisalo or Edmonton doesn't re-sign Koskinen (both of which I doubt) it's pretty slim pickings. Carter Hutton, will however, be available.
  17. That's pretty much my view, which is why I said I'd make the deal at the deadline if a 2nd was offered for Bryson. I have no issues with signing him for a few more years at a reasonably low number though, but long term I doubt he's the guy. I also question all the automatic slotting in of Jokiharju. People are forgetting that the Dahlin Joker pairing looked pretty bad prior to his injury and I'm definitely not sold on Jokiharju's full potential. To me he's a maybe, but definitely not a lock. I'm more confident about Samuelsson's potential tbh.
  18. Oh yes, he was a great leader, that's why all the GMs signed him long term and that's why we won so many games with him. Carry on yawning..............
  19. I doubt Bryson gets you a 2nd, but if he did I might make that move. He's not all that but it depends on how Jokiharju is coming back and some of the prospects.
  20. idk where Tuch will end up but, assuming his game keeps evolving the way it seemed to be before the injury I would like to see Tuch with Mitts to start and see if that works. Playmaker plus power forward with more grit is a good combination. But that depends on what Mitts is when he returns. There are no guarantees on that.
  21. Even if there is a stylistic similarity in any way, there simply is no comparison because from what I've seen and understand Krebs is a leader and he gives maximum effort most, if not all, the time. and THAT was not Samson.
  22. Oh don't do that to me................. 🙂 I see Matt Duchene comparisons myself. Needs to muscle up a bit though for the NHL to be truly effective. I could see him at center with Cozens at RW or Cozens at center and him at left wing. Quinn or Peterka (depending which way you go at center) as the third line member makes for an intriguing and potentially very good line.
  23. I don't remember a specific hit having that impact but you might be right. I just think he lacked a physicality that meant he'd never be a good NHLer.
  24. I really don't know why some people liked this guy. I thought he was terrible but whatever. No loss imo.
