Come on Skinner, do us the same favour. https://www.nhl.com/news/milan-lucic-waives-no-move-clause-before-seattle-expansion-draft/c-324346824

Anyone else find it odd they gave Gostisbehere 2 games for his little frustration shove on Friedman the next day after giving Wilson nothing?

NY Rangers announce Chris Drury as President and GM

That's way too much hate. Maybe that's the core of the Buffalo culture problem. Hating others instead of making yourself enviable (and thus the subject of their hate). Drury was a great Sabre. We could use several of him now. They didn't value him enough to retain him, that's on them not him. Now Taylor Hall, you can go on hating him all you want 😉 -

The Drury hate is sad to see. I wonder how this might affect any potential Eichel to the Rangers trade scenario? Other than that, not concerned in the least about the Rangers. Good for Drury. I'm sure he gets a solid pay cheque now. -
I would be really surprised if Miller is taken by Seattle. I think they would take Bjork or Thompson or Borgen ahead of him and at least one of them is likely exposed.
-
This is personal narrative pushing nonsense. Are the Sabres soft? Absolutely. Does anyone think Bryson should fight Wilson (for example) absolutely not. But should we have people capable of taking him on? Absolutely. If we do not address the softness issue it will become our achilles if the day comes that we get skilled enough to actually win games and have opposing teams take us seriously. It is far better to build with that element as part of the roster so that the team bonds and players feel secure and get braver.
-
$8 million might get you the goalies, and that's about it. Have to wait and see I guess.
-
I actually knew this, hence the smiley. There's absolutely no question he is currently the Sabres best player. Is he playing for the contract will remain my question however, until I see his play after it's signed.
-
So the follow up question is do you (they) have enough money for that wish list without trading away one or more of Risto, Eichel, Reinhart? I don't think they do, and they need money for Dahlin etc. This is part of the problem with dumping a huge contract Reinhart's way. Too much money spent on too few. Otherwise I don't really disagree with the idea. Just don't think it's possible without changes.

Sucks at shoot outs though 🙂

They're not are they? Maybe in Canada, but not in the U.S. To me this is not very different from the Todd Bertuzzi incident. That was a punch from behind, but in both cases it's head into the ice with weight behind it. This one could have resulted in a similar career ending.
-
Yes, if you stand pat. The young guys can be molded by anyone I think but if this remains Eichel's team it all depends on what he wants.
-
I wonder if there's a little Ted Nolan sort of thing in him. Stubborn guy who doesn't necessarily get along with management and/or owners? Seems like he's maybe not as good a listener as teller but idk. He's my preferred choice. Vigenault certainly has to be called into question with how he's failing in Philly. I know blame can be spread around there but that team has fallen apart under him.
-
Well, then that's wrong.

So what did I miss? Is Tokarski injured too? -
is he really? Well that's good then. Boston seemed to be slaughtering us on draws but I can't say I really kept track.
-
I want to pin you down. IF you were doing the hiring and could get him, would you hire Gallant or would you give Granato the job? I would hire Gallant myself. Personally I would hire Torts if he was available and shape the team in a new way but I know what pain that involves so I know it won't be popular. I would keep Granato over hiring Boudreau and I'm 50/50 on Julien so I'd probably err on the side of caution and keep Granato instead.
-
I have said I do like him better at center and I think his skill set is a better fit in this role (with the exception of his face offs). If we retain him I think it will be a huge mistake to make him Eichel's RW again. He should stay as 2C with the same line he has now. I do still question his work ethic and commitment though. Until I see him play like this after signing a big contract I will keep thinking he is skinnering us.
-
This is true. the team would require a make over if it was put in Torts hands. Now I personally think that's a better direction but it won't happen so a moot point. Torts wouldn't fit here same way he didn't fit in Vancouver. Gallant idk. He's a tough guy and I like him as a coach but idk if these players would respond to him or not.

It's not the league it's the maximum fine under the CBA. The league would love to have larger fines but the players union doesn't want them to have that power. So yes, $5000 is nothing, but it does not mean he will not be suspended.
-
I don't think anybody thinks what Tom Wilson did there was required. but it happens. See if there is supplementary discipline (which there should be). he's a repeat offender . Was already suspended this year for a head hit. He should lose playoff games this year. If not, it's inadequate.
-
Well I think it all depends on whether or not they're trading anyone away . If they are not, and Granato is coach, the make up of the team is pretty much as is, you just add Eichel to a line 1. The goalie becomes the only question but if it's Ullmark resigned then that's it too. It'll be Ullmark and UPL. Not suggesting it's the right plan, but without trades and FA signings this is it (or thereabouts). R2- Eichel - Cozens Skinner-Reinhart-Olofsson Asplund-Mitts-Thom,pson Zemgus between-Okposo + Sheahan or Reider or whoever gets signed or called up. Same D as now. ( and it won't be good enough. )
-
perfect time to trade him. If for no better reason than to save you all from falling off this bandwagon when he disappoints down the road.
-
So this means you want him as HC next year? Say Gallant or Granato you choose Granato?
