  1. Remember when we spent years crying: we need a too4 defenseman but nobody ever trades one! Risto is playing too many minutes he needs to be a second pairing guy! Now we have arguably 4-5 top 4 guys. McCabe is a solid third pairing now. Montour is forced playing offhand because of the depth. And we have Pilut, Borgen, two first rounders and some other wild cards like Laaksonen in the system. When we lose a defenseman in the expansion draft (and we will), we already have a replacement in order. I believe Ristolainen is gone before next season, and we won’t miss a beat paying that UFA contract he will want. It’s very true. And Joki and Dahlin are still kids and the sky is the limit for both of them still. Have tour gripes and pretend Rome can be built in 2 years all you want, but our defensive depth is now SOLID. Great way to build from the back out, the way it always should have been.
  2. Where’s the ‘it’s all a part of the internal plan he’s going nowhere’ option? Biased poll
  3. They looked extremely tired after the last two games where they had hop, but no luck. They had luck today though, but their poor play still blew it. Y’all aiming for the top, but our assistant coaches need major turnover. We still have Steve Smith from Housley and that’s a problem. Our special teams suck hard. Get us a special teams coach. Jack is obviously too hurt to play right now. He’s playing like total ass out there.
  4. Murray’s last season was supposed to be IT. He spent all the marbles and mortgaged the future and they played worse than Jason’s season 3 team did, even with ROR blessed be thy name. Botterills IT season is next season. This offseason cap finally sheds most of the Murray blunders, his own draft picks playing, etc. Jason steppes into a mess and has cleaned up well.
  5. Bad goalie, injured superstar, and lack of at least one more real top 6 talent do go a long way example: St Louis
  6. They’re playing noticeably worse than the last two games. But they’re up two. Sometimes it comes down to bounces
  7. Skinner-Eichel-Thompson Oloffson-Soderberg/Granlund/Trade -Reinhart Kahun-Mittelstadt-Anderson Girgensons-Lazar-Okposo (GLOv2) Larsson moves on for crazy money. Girgensons stay on discounts. Trade made for Josh Anderson (Cozens stays down). A 2C is acquired or Jason doesn’t make it to opening night. Hot take: Thompson is ready for too minutes and Oloffson’s honeymoon is over after he falls apart down the stretch this year.
  8. Defensive depth that makes the Amerks play defense at forward. Cap freedom starting next season A handful of forward prospects that aren’t total busts
  9. Three players with serious drinking problems that didn’t get fixed until they left Buffalo and the wonderful culture they had developed Two 2OA gimmes (well Reinhart was a BIG miss relatively speaking) and one 7th rounder. THAT was the source of today’s woes.
  10. Reasonable, but Tampa’s cap or RD depth wouldn’t like this unless they’re also the team selling the RW.
  11. Murray’s accelerated tank was the problem. He missed on everything. Left us with zero depth and zero prospects. Can’t fix that in a day. Removing Botterill is a huge mistake.
  12. The coaching isn’t the problem here. They’re playing well against a good team and bounces are just not in their favor.
  13. Kahun moves his feet, but unlike Sheary isn’t falling all over the ice Simmonds is creating chances with Skinner. They’re bound to finish on one of these soon. That line isn’t a total defensive liability anymore either, though it’s clearly still the line other teams try to match up against.
  14. Reinhart plays too passive when paired with Eichel. He also isn’t a ying to Oloffson’s yang on the forecheck. Our top line has been too silent lately. Break them up!!!!
  15. Who was marchessault trying to fool? lol Just score boys.
  16. That was more on Eichel than line change timing. He coasted in
  17. Ya that’s basically how statistical analysis works. Players who shadow superstars are going to get points whether they showed up and hustled that game or not if their coach is always going to pair them regardless. And the numbers are higher for Jack despite the same percentage. Meaning it’s more likely it’s a Jack effect that Reinhart is riding and not the other way around.
  18. They didn’t have their top 6 guys until after that little stretch and have been playing great since. If we had multiple injuries to defenseman we would be in great shape. Instead we lost our starting goalie and what little offense we had Year after year the healthiest teams typically make the playoffs and the injured ones don’t. Few exceptions
  19. I’m not drawing a conclusion that Sam shows well in losses based on those numbers. That was my eye test. I’m just disproving that metric as counter evidence because you can’t dissociate it from Jack
  20. Yeah, very similar. Can’t really draw a conclusion about Sam when Jack is having the same effect and they play together all the time.
  21. Is there significant interaction between Jack and Sam for the same metric of wins with points back wins without? aka What’s Eichel numbers?
  22. Is that not a lesser Jack metric?
