Granted I’ve only watched 1.5 games this year, but I have not been impressed with Caggiula yet, and view him as a placeholder.

GDT: Buffalo vs Vancouver 10/19/21 7 pm MSG

Very possible doesn’t win a game for a whole month! -
Their secondary was not good, but they played the run well, prevented Josh from scrambling, and put a lot of pressure on Josh.
-
Actually, faking the middle and going outside was what didn’t work earlier.

If we pick up a center that projects out to first line, then I am not worried about center. One of Mittelstadt or Cozens should pan out for 2C at least. The other could play 3C or on the wing, 3C is easily replaceable in FA. Right now on the wing with reasonable top 6 potential we have: Quinn, JJP, Kisakov, Poltapov, and Rosen. Currently on the team are Oloffson, Asplund, and Thompson, but I would prefer them to be 3rd liners if they are still around unless there is marked improvement. I don’t want to rely on 4 out of the 5 prospects panning out to be good top 6 wingers. I think we still need some talent added. I will say that the draft also will depend on the Eichel return, whether it’s more picks or prospects that fill holes in the pipeline. Regardless, I would like 1 Goalie drafted, and no left defensemen.
-
But what about the empty roster spot?
-
There’s also the Florida pick. Honestly though, there’s a lot of quality rd that will likely be around the middle of the first round as well. If we could grab a good center with our pick (Shane Wright please🤞), then a good rd prospect to add to the pipeline, I think it would set us up to easily focus on wings for most of the rest of the draft.

With Mittelstadt’s unjury, he’ll be going on ir at the bare minimum, freeing up a roster spot that probably will go to a forward. Does JJP get pulled up here?

Updated Sabres Prospect Pool 2021 and beyond
sabresparaavida replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
He made it look so effortless too, while the D looked like he was hustling back. -
2 shortened seasons (even if one was significantly more shortened), but that’s outperforming Reinhart’s first 2 years in the league and he’s playing center. If he keeps last year’s pace of about .8 ppg, that’s not a horrible contract, but he also still has some upside, and could get better to where that deal is cheap.

Dreger: Eichel situation may be shifting, multiple teams involved
sabresparaavida replied to Hoss's topic in The Aud Club
Yes please. If we could somehow swing Eichel for dysdale+2022 first+comtois, I would be estatic. Maybe throw back Thompson their way? Regardless, I think If we can’t get a top C prospect, getting a first and a good rd prospect is the move. We need rd for the future, and if we can fill the hole in the top 4 rd in the future, that would allow us to focus on forwards in the draft with 3 firsts. -
Like who? I can’t think of a Goalie that I would be confident enough in being good enough long enough that we are a good team again that I would justify trading Eichel for. If we do trade Eichel, it seems to me the earliest we can hope to be good again is the 22/23 season. There would have to be a goalie out there that I am confident will be good in the 22-23 season, (which really cuts down the options) but also the next 2-3 after (at a minimnum) if I am trading a 1C. So it would have to be a goalie that I am confident will be in the upper end of the league for the next 5 years, and I don’t know if I am confident in a single goalie to do that.

Sabres goalies get no love in Yahoo Fantasy Rankings
sabresparaavida replied to gilbert11's topic in The Aud Club
One of the goalies we just sent out of training camp. -
Theoretical: Jack ends up getting surgery and is out the season. The team plays well, but the goaltending lets us down and we finished around the bottom of the league, add one of the top 3 forward prospects, then actually get a starting caliber goalie on the team. Jack agrees to give it a shot and we have mitts and Cozens, proven top 6 players at this point, R2 playing a solid 3C, Quinn playing well after he comes up partway through, Thompson and asplund playing like good top 6ers, Skinner getting some of his game back with granato, and a full pipeline, along with power, Dahlin, and joki rounding most of a excellent top 4, with a deep backend on the left side. All this along with a brinks truck worth of cap space to add to our team. Eichel agrees to give it a shot and they contend for playoffs the next year, and then go deep the year after with more development.

It could be an 8 figure total, like 4mil x 3 years or something along those lines.

The funny thing in the one article is that it said Vladimir Sobotka was St. Louis Blues property.

Honestly, the wild trade isn’t too bad. Fiala would slot into our top 6 for as long as he is willing to put up with the franchise. 2 firsts added to next year’s stacked draft. A goalie that’s better than any on our current roster. I would definitely need Zachary Jones switched out for a different prospect though, we have enough LD.
-
It definitely is not. Development is more crucial to this rebuild. A Jack trade has a max of about 4 players that can become a part of the team coming back, more likely that about 3 actually make the team at some point. Our top 6 is going to need 4 of Kisakov, Poltalov, Quinn, R2, Rosen, and JJP to become top 6ers, and that isn’t exactly likely. Power could become an average second pair Dman Dahlin could stay where he is and never be a true 1D The goalies in our system may never become NHL caliber goalies. Even if we get a top center prospect, they would still need a lot of good development to become a 1C
-
Yeah, that’s really looking like the plan to me. He has 2 prospects/players with good 2 C potential. He’s loaded up on wings the last 2 drafts, and has a high potential defense with Dahlin, Power, and Jokiharju making 3 of a top 4 and Bryson, Samuellson, and Johnson competing for spots. We have 3 potential NHL goalies, though 2 of them seem like still a ways off, and one that still should have a year or two. I think the plan is to get that 1C next year in the draft. What makes this interesting to me, is the Eichel trade if we’re assuming that. It wouldn’t surprise me for Kevyn Adams to target W, RHD, or G prospects in an Eichel deal. Adding a high end wing prospect along with a decent RHD would do a lot for our future if we can get a 1C next draft.

That roster was hardly highly talented. We had some elite talent, particularly at C, but there was no depth, the defense was a catastrophe, and the goaltending poor (likely at least partially caused by the defense).
