  1. According to my source, the sabres are in discussions that would bring in a second line center, as well as a top 6 winter from a team that is currently playing. The center is a player the board has talked about before. The sabres main blocks are tentatively agreed upon, but they may have to add significantly depending on playoff performance.
  2. Don't forget him having our first 2 goals this year: we'll see if he can keep it up
  3. Many "essential workers" travel and then have to quarantine. They had better be strict about isolation.
  4. Without looking: Lightning, Wild, and Avalanche. Thought of Lightning right away, took a minute for the others.
  5. I'm thinking about it this way: We have no 2C according to pretty much everyone, including us. But obviously, we would have a player in the 2C position. I think there are ~27 1Cs players: the cutoff is where a typical playoff roster would struggle to make the playoffs with the 28th as their 1C. 28-31 would be terrible 1Cs, great 2 C's. The next 31 go till you reach a situation like the Sabres with Johanson or maybe Larsson- a good 3C, a terrible 2C. This player would be the difference between a wildcard roster and a barely missed team. I have not researched enough to prove this idea, but it is a general idea that I have. Oh, okay. I thought you were saying I was trolling when I saw this post, decided to actually explain my reasoning to show I wasn't trolling.
  6. Disagree on your definition of #1 center. What you are describing are elite centers or top tier #1s. There are a bunch of centers that are definitely not #2 centers, and are not a #1 by your definition. I would say there is probably somewhere around 25-28 #1 centers in the league- enough so that not all teams have one, but enough that the majority do.
  7. While I'm fine with the idea, I don't think we should get rid of McCabe. He is one of 2 NHL LHD on the roster. We already need to add 1 (unless Montour plays on his off hand again), I'd prefer to not create a hole there, when McCabe can be a solid 5D.
  8. Cirelli will command significantly more than $728,000 as a RFA. I would guess he will be somewhere in the vicinity of 6 million.
  9. If Tage, Cozens, and Ruotsalainen could come in and produce like that on a 3rd line, that would be amazing. It would give us cap space, a good (at least offensive) 3rd line, and give us the opportunity to work on our top 6 with some salary coming in. However, I doubt some of them are ready for a 3rd line role, and likely would not produce at that level.
  10. Basically, the flu vaccine is made with the scientists predicting which strain is going to be most prevalent. Sometimes they get it right, sometimes there's a couple strains that get pretty big. It's a guessing game predicting the spread of viruses a long time in the future.
  11. I (a completely uniformed person, so take this with a grain of salt) would think that the vaccine wouldn't be annually available like the flu shot. There have been Corona viruses for years, such that the majority of people in the world have had it before, and most have similar effects to the common cold. These did not require vaccines back then, and I don't see why they should now, unless new strains are rapidly emerging.
  12. I can't believe my mind blanked Okposo out of the lineup. There's your 4 RW.
  13. I think if we could add a 2RW in free agency (toffoli?), We could build a solid team with Monahan. What about Risto, mitts, and a 2nd (hell for Monahan, I'd send a top 10 protected first instead) Lines look something like this: Skinner-Eichel-Tofolli Oloffson-Monahan-Reinhart Johansson-Cozens-Kahun Xxx-Lazar-xxx Dahlin-Joki McCabe-Montour Xxx-Miller Goalie would still be a problem, and I don't know if that would fit under the cap, but that is a good roster (dependant on reasonable players filling the xxx). Those top 3 lines are playoff calibre.
  14. I do know that Jbotts was having discussions with Calgary about Monahan last year. Whether he is still on the table is yet to be seen.
  15. How does Frolik going to the KHL give us cap space, after our season is already over?
  16. I was thinking Montour would go to Vancouver, and Risto would be sent elsewhere for assets that would then be used to help get Cirelli.
  17. Almost for sure, yes. But I'm just exploring what that roster might look like. In that scenario, Risto, Montour, Mitts, and 8 were moved and we might get something small back prospect/picks wise
  18. So that Roster would probably look something like this Olofsson-Eichel-Reinhart Skinner-Cirelli-Boeser Johansson-Cozens-Kahun (or one of the other 2 at C) Lazar-Asplund-xxx (vet min 4th liner) Thompson Dahlin-Joki McCabe-Miller Xxx-Borgen (vet min LD) Xxx (vet min D) Ullmark Hutton We would definitely be much better at forwards, and significantly worse at D, with a wash to slight improvement at G (depending on how much of a factor Hutton's eyes were and age's decline). We would have no defensive depth to speak of, an injury to Dahlin or Joki easily puts that D group near the worst in the league. I would say that roster isn't necessarily playoff bound, but it could be better than this year, and definitely would be more exciting.
  19. I am a young fan (18).Ive been a Sabres fan (loosely) since I can remember, growing up listening to the games over the radio with my Dad. The past couple years I have gotten more into it, despite a lack of success. Favorite Sabre: I would probably have to go with Ryan Miller. I don't recall any of the glory years, but he was an exciting player on decent teams. Honorable mentions to Vanek and Eichel. Most exciting moment: I went to the game against Philly during the 10 game win streak of last year. We DOMINATED that first period and it gave me hope for the year, leading to the most frustrating moment, of that team falling apart. How would I fix the team? I would go after a 2C, preferably Monahan or Cirelli (fully realizing that it won't happen) Then I would try to add another top 6 Rw, but I would only want to lose one of Risto/Montour to get these done. (Don't want to sacrifice our defensive integrity)
  20. I would think we would need to shed 2 of the above to aquire both Boeser and Cirelli, and still fit under the cap.
  21. Our 4th line+defense are gonna take a hit to get under the cap with that.
  22. No, because our C depth is about equally bad to our RW depth, and C is more important. I'm not gonna sacrifice our C spine now and in the future for a RW. But pick 8... Maybe that would work for me.
