I'm actually excited for this Sabres season, no expectations

I don't think the stats bear out what you're saying but I hope you're right. 👍 -

I'm excited too. I expect all the kids will take another step and Skinner, Okposo, and Girgs will all bounce back. My fear though is all of this will be overshadowed by the lack of goaltending. Seeing your team play well, only to have your goalie lose it for you is one of the biggest p***-offs in hockey. -
This is just another case of Adams' old school, screw the new generation / "I've won a cup mentality". He's handled this poorly from the start. Realistically, there's enough evidence to say the disc replacement could work. Yes it's never been done on a hockey player, but someone has to be the first. He should have been working with the team doctors and insurance people to help get the franchise C what he wants, but be in a position financially to cover their butts if the surgery fails. Personally, I wouldn't want fusion surgery either if I were in Eichel's shoes given there is a permanent albeit small loss in mobility. Instead, it's clear the team has done everything it can to work against Eichel... making the team look petty, but worse yet, killing the trade value.

Kevyn Adams has botched the Eichel situation horribly
JoeSchmoe replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
If Adams takes the "my hands are tied approach, but I want us to figure a solution out together,", Eichel doesn't give the post season interview he does. Side note: In minor hockey there's a 24 hour rule where you give yourself time to cool off after an incident. Usually cooler heads prevail. Jack went straight from the exit interview to the media... No time there to simmer down. -

So you don't see the nuanced "our way or the highway" tone vs a "this is a tough situation and we're trying to our best to find an amicable solution" tone. -

One thing I find is that Adams' tone seems to a tad adversarial... Unnecessararily so. If I were in his shoes, my tact would be to play the game on Eichel's side, but let him know my hands are tied because this is what the doctors and insurance companies are telling us. Essentially, working with him instead of against him. I think there's an element of the ex-player in him wanting to take on the "new-generation" star forward for not putting the team first like he and the boys would have done back in his day. -
Brian Duff and Marty Biron to Take Over The Instigators
JoeSchmoe replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
After paying NYS taxes, getting divorced, and all these years of living an NHL player's lifestyle, that doesn't leave much to live on. Guaranteed he needs the $$$. -

Whoa! Are you Peters' accountant? How'd you find that out? -

If Biron and Duff are already salaried, it costs them nothing to work an extra 5 hours a week... While letting 2 guys go saves them money. Rivet doesn't need the money, but Peters in all likelihood does. I wonder what he'll do with himself given he wasn't particularly good at being a radio host (nor was he much of a hockey player either). Probably has alimony payments to boot. -
I didn't think he was all that good last night except at being a pest.

Pssst... Hey guys. It's page 298. It's time for a break.
-
Until they get some semblance of capable goaltending, they will be tank level bad. It's too bad, because the young core of the team has some potential, but I see them getting deflated early and often due to the backend letting them down so badly.

I didn't have access to all the games back then like I do now, but Barnaby lost almost every time I saw him fight. The only time he did okay was when he could sucker a guy into fighting that didn't normally drop the gloves.

The Sabres, Eichel, NHL and NHLPA had a meeting regarding Jack
JoeSchmoe replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Let's all talk about Jack Eichel!!! -
I'm just getting the facts out there. Gotta educate the masses about my home turf!
-
Nope... I'm here to save Sabrespace from itself.

The low point is getting sucked into passionately discussing a tweet from a single non-credible source. At this point, it's so much closer to being a hoax than news. It's hook, line, and sinker low. If more sources with more credibility come forward, sure we can call it news, but for now it's just noise from a random twitter account.
-
How does this thread get to 3 pages in less than a day with no credible source?!?? This is a low day for Sabrespace. Even lower than usual! 🤣

First of all... Do we have any further confirmation on this story other than from a less than one month old twitter account? Secondly, Niagara starts in Grimsby not Hamilton. I live right on the border on the Grimsby side. I could walk down the street to take a picture the Niagara sign on one side of the street and the Hamilton sign on the other side (there are also Stoney Creek and Winona signs too) if you would like. Thirdly, the number of Leaf fans to Sabres fans here would be about 10 to 1 at least. There are more Bruins, Oilers, Penguins, and Habs fans around here than Sabres fans. Closer to the border, the ratio is a lot better (the Falls and Fort Erie), but once you get to St Catharines, the Leafs are far and away #1.

Pick #14 (13th player): LW/RW Isak Rosen (SHL)

Ok... I thought D-1 was your draft year and D+1 was the year after. Then I meant D year. -

They were both D-1 seasons. -

That's a Swedish U20 league. How many would he have in the CHL? Quinn had 52 in 62 games in the CHL. -
Is it his poor play in Rochester that gives you that good feeling? We need more than 1 goalie. We could have signed a vet while Levi and Portillo get their 2-3 years of seasoning. When the kids are ready, trading a decent goalie with a year or two left on his contract would bring in more assets.

The goalies we have alone tells the story. We are trying to lose unfortunately. I really hope Terry is not in KA's ear telling him not to spend on goaltending because he likes UPL and wants him to play. UPL's last 2 years are telling me he's more likely to be a minor league goalie that an NHL goalie. And even if he proves me wrong, I see zero recent evidence to think he'll be good in the NHL.
