I think we can thank China and their laboratory that inadvertently or advertantly unleashed the pandemic that created the necessity of the divisional realignment that resulted in us being forced to play in a stacked East Division which caused the team to lose far more games than we would have compared to the standard Northeast division. 🤪

FWIW- My kid plays hockey against Ellis' kid's team (and Adams') that was coached by Ellis. They are always among the best teams in N. America despite having no ringers like most of the other top teams. While its easy to say its because he played in the NHL and has more experience than the other coaches, anyone i know that's talked to him would agree that its really because hes such a student of the game. Also note that there are plenty of other minor hockey coaches that have had similar pro hockey experience as Ellis and they don't move the needle for their teams at all. Also, the fact that he was able to carve out any type of NHL career was not because of God given talent, but it was because of what he had upstairs. Personally, I think we should keep him. Also, i think Girardi brings a lot of credibility for our young D. We should keep him too.

Sure it was tough during the winless streak, but once they started sitting the dead weight in favour of the younger kids I was looking forward to every game. During the tank, there really was no reason to watch your team suck on purpose.

No. They beat the Stanley Cup champions that were cheating by hiding 18M of salary on the IR. And at different points in the season, Pitt, Bos, Wash, and even NYR all had stretches where they looked even better than the Isles.

I'm saying our division was the best division in hockey. I think you put any of the other 7 teams in other divisions and you'd be surprised to see how good they'd do. Look at what NYI did to the superstacked cheating Lightning today.

I enjoyed watching the emergence of Mittelstadt and the ATM line in general, the turnaround by Dahlin, and the respectable play by the prospects on D. The Houser and Tokarski stories were fun. This team was a goalie and a division change away from being a playoff team.

I'm not sure how you get to that point, but I'll choose to be an eternal optimist.

Wouldn't these guys are be considered prospects in that they haven't played a full year? Cozens, Johnson, Quinn, Peterka, Samuelson, Routs, Bryson, Borgen, Laaks, UPL, Portillo Then you have Mitts, Thompson, Aspland, and Dahlin that are on the upward part of their trajectory curves but are no longer prospects. Someone explain to me how the Leafs are 4th on LGR'S highly touted list???? Filip Hallander is their 3rd ranked prospect... And he was a 20yo 0.5ppg C in the SHL. I'm not saying we're tops, but we're not 30th, nor are the Leafs 4th. The list is trash.

He's got the Leafs at 4th. Their prospect pool is underwhelming at best.

Would you not say an analysis ranking our prospects that does not put Peterka in our top 5 is if not wrong, then flawed?

No mention of JJ Peterka, the underager that finished 5th overall in scoring at the U20's either. 🥱

Hey Everyone... Rather than fight and argue all offseason about the 1OA, new coach, Eichel/Reinhart futures I thought this thread as a distraction. What is your favourite restaurant? I'll start and say my favourite is the Dinosaur BBQ in Syracuse. 20 years or so ago my friend went to Syracuse on full scholarship. A bunch of us would go down for sports weekends and to hang out. We would eat at the Dino Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. It opened me to the world of BBQ cooking which I've been quite into on my own for a long time since. I've been to the Buffalo and Rochester locations many times as well... and while still good, neither seem to measure up to the consistency of the Syracuse location. What do you guys have?

I foresee a lot of arguments leading up to the draft regarding the 1OA. Remember... Not even the experts can agree who the top guy is. Far be it from us armchair QBs to figure it out. I didn't watch it but it's good to hear. Sounds like we could be set on D if our prospects continue on the path there on. McCabe would be good to re-sign as a guy who can show these guys the defensive part of the game... Unless there's a better free agent option out there.

I guess with COVID there isnt much else going on. Hopefully your son gets into sports. My kids (boy and girl) both play hockey and those are some fun times! My son is almost 14 and he's hoping to make it to the OHL in a couple of years. I've coached my daughter for a few her seasons, and those have been great times as well.
