  1. I have be into smoking for years now, I am okay at it, my ribs and beer can chicken comeout the best, but I have never smoked a prime roast. what kind of wood do you use? i generally lean towards the milder fruity wood like cherry or apple, what do you suggest for prime rib? also, does it take as long as a brisket? i find it hard to dedicate 12 hours of a weekend to smoking a brisket.
  2. It's actually quite easy from what I have read, trade RoR for a #2 D-man, trade Risto for RoR's replacement...done! *sarcasm font needed*
  3. Must have been fun back then complaining after a loss over some Genny Cream pounders in a crappy bar somewhere because they didn't have an online forum to namelessly call other fans and players idiots, losers etc etc.
  4. Problem is, teams see Okposo and his anchor of a contract vs lack of production AND recent injury issue, highly doubt any team takes Okposo in a trade, especially if they give up a young player with potential on an ELC. Same for Bogo, he has almost no value in a trade, again, you aren't getting a young cost controlled prospect/player with potential for Bogo. Okposo and Bogo are Sabres until their contract runs out or they're bought out. The only possible way i see the Sabres unloading Okposo is in the next expansion draft and they give Seattle a draft pick to bribe them.
  5. very deep and obscure, but, I understand it know
  6. there was a thread about it, but, a Swedish sports writer talked about Dahlin and likely going to Buffalo. He referenced four SB losses, 2 Stanley Cup losses, said all the things about Buffalo that everyone who has never been there before says. Poor, small, dirty, blah blah blah and he said "Buffalo is the city that God forgot"
  7. Problem with this is that we have trouble landing assets and pieces that will actually make a difference.
  8. Girgensons, Larsson, and Bogo have little to no trade value at all, I doubt they can be used in any trade scenario. Finding fringe bottom 6 players isn't too difficult, those teams are better off just grooming their own draft picks for bottom 6 roles as opposed to giving up better assets to trade for them. Draisaitl is an interesting case, is he really that good, or is he benefiting from having McDavid around? Could be he as successful here as in Edmonton? i was hoping for him that year instead of Reinhart
  9. hmm, we had what, an 18.5% chance of winning the lottery? i would agree that our odds are lower of signing JT
  10. Why wouldnt he care about those things? He can get a ton of money from a bunch of teams so that's not an issue. There are a lot of players that value where they will be living and where they raise their family more than the salary they are making. Who knows what JT values the most. That would be worth it indeed
  11. Yes, we are going to unload some contracts, Bogo, Moulson, P-ville, but a year after that, we have to look to extend Mittelstadt, who will likely make more per year than any of those three, a year after that will be coming up on Dahlin's extension and that will be pretty significant. Erod seems to have carved out a spot and will need a raise. I am assuming Guhle will be here this year and will need an extension the same time Dahlin gets his. You make it sound so easy. I haven't looked, but that $20M to spare comes from where? All the one year deals expiring, Josefson, Larrson, Girgensons etc? that money isnt really spare? you still have to round out the bottom 6 with decent players, we have seen what happens when you put a bunch of garbage on the bottom 6. You can't just assume that all our Roc guys like Baptiste, Bailey, etc will be good enough. Signing and affording Tavares probably can be done, but not easily and tough decisions will be made.
  12. Still have no top line wingers, hoping Okposo gets back to form is a big hope, Reinhart is probably our best winger, but probably wouldnt be on the top line of any of the teams left in the conference finals. You're assuming Mittelstadt is ready to rock, and make a difference on the third line, who's he playing with, Wilson, Bailey, Baptiste etc etc, none of them have proved they are ready to make an impact in the NHL
  13. Because Columbus is actually a really awesome city with a great arena district. I live a little less than an hour from C-bus and have gone to Sabres games there for years. The Arena is really nice, the city is pretty awesome and there are plenty of great suburbs to raise a family, if that's something he's considering. Every game i have been to has been a sell out as well, it has really caught on here. I guess its not a 'traditional market' but they have a strong fan base.
  14. Well, being pretty much the worst team in the league over the last half decade probably has something to do with it. Signing and affording JT without going into cap hell right away will be tricky, we'd need to rid ourselves of one or two of Okposo, RoR, Moulson, Bogosian. No one is taking Okposo, Moulson, or Bogo. RoR could be moved, he has plenty of value on the market. Problem is that we have no capable wingers. Okposo might regain form being on a line with JT, but who else is there? Reinhart? sure, but he's do a raise, further complicating things towards the cap. Will JT want to come here, not be a captain, and be fine with this being Eichel's team? I just don't see a YUGE step forward this year, baby step for sure, we might be able to leap ahead of Ottawa and maybe Montreal in the division, but thats about it.
  15. Perhaps this is a ploy by Tavares' agent, they all know TP is willing to spend $. Leak it out that JT is considering Buffalo, knowing TP will spend, drive up his offers from other teams and get one from a team that he really wants to play for. too much tin foil hat?
  16. Sabres have had so much luck with signing Islanders in free agency...i keed i keed. It'll be difficult salary cap wise, but, would make the Sabres legit again, just don't see him signing with the worst team of the last half decade.
  17. Thanks, I appreciate the education. no gossip eh? i suppose you can't come on SS and talk trade proposals then!
  18. I see the Bills have a D-line pass rusher visitng, when will they start inviting some okay to good WRs to come visit? Pretty sure that's the weakest position right now.
  19. Awesome house and it looks like a beautiful area. Hope you get it! Forgive my not knowing, and I suppose I could look it up, but, i think its better to just ask you and have a 'conversation' about it. But what does Ramadan celebrate? And is this when you fast dawn to dusk and party at sundown? I served with a Muslim and remember when he would fast all day, just can't remember what holiday it was.
  20. Being good at a lot of things can be a blessing. I have had a similar path during my adult life. I spent 12.5 years in the Air Force, doing something different every 3ish years has been great and challenging as well. I have a lot of experience in different discplines in my career field, the only problem is that I am not really an expert in anyone of them. After I was medically discharged from Active Duty I continued to work for the Air Force as a contractor and have had two different jobs in the last two years and this summer I am starting yet another different job, but, this time I will be a permanent Air Force civilian employee not having to worry about receiving a new contract evey year. Excited and nervouse because I don't have a lot of experience in the job I will be taking, but, i had just enough to actaully get selected. give her a stink-palm the next time you see her
  21. Backstrom back on the ice and probably playing in game 3, Capitals looking to go up 3-0 and I think they will
  22. I was referring to Patrick Kane when I mentioned "an elite winger like Kane" I saw read on Twitter that Pilut wasn't with the Swedish team and that he was free to sign. That was Monday morning, wonder if the Sabres are meeting with him this week
  23. it's more for comedy than anything else, most people in here realize that he's full of crap and wont go to his articles, but i didnt think it was a big deal to mention an outlandish headline for a few laughs. Ek has been around for a long time actually, and people will conitue to go to Hockeybuzz because there are actually good writers there, seeing his headlines are the price of admission to read articles from the several talented writers that post there.
  24. And find an elite winger like Kane who can actually keep up with Eichel
