  1. And the odd thing is that some of us weren't raised Catholic, but we had some passing knowledge about it - Monty Python notwithstanding.
  2. I hear ya. So, this may not qualify as actual reading, but it'll do since I drive but need something to listen to. LibriVox has become quite a help when I want to listen to a book when I don't have time to read. Having said that, I have been listening to Calvin's Institutes of the Christian Religion. I've always wanted to read it, but the overall length can be intimidating to me - regardless of subject matter. Speaking of LibriVox, I think I found some material by John Owen on there (or maybe it was YouTube). I've always found him to be hard to read on paper - and other readers of his oeuvre have said the same thing. He's hard to listen to and follow along as well. I had no idea that anyone out there could be such an extremely technical writer!
  3. I just hope we're not in a redux situation like the original Cleveland Browns got hammered with back in the 90's.
  4. I totally understand. More power to you. While Kindle technology has been great for some people, I still prefer to have an actual book in my hands.
  5. The bad thing about our current state of technology and society is that it is easier to pull most people away from a book than from a smartphone (what an oxymoron) when we are trying to get someone else's attention. I've come to that realization in my own life, and I am hoping to reverse that to a happy medium. Having said that, I'm still plugging away with The Romanov Sisters, but things are starting to get interesting since I've come to the point of Nicholas II's abdication. (The regicide will come later.) I've been dragging myself through the book for a few years, and I want to finish it in earnest. Up next: The Christian in Complete Armour by WilliamGurnall in 3 volumes. I received this after I tagged my wife in a Facebook post about them since they were being advertised on the Truth For Life ministry page on there. She said Done, and ordered them. Now they're here, and I can't wait to dig into them. A few months ago, I started reading Earth's Final Empire: The Final Game of Thrones by John Hagee. I knew what I was getting myself into when I bought a copy of this book at a liquidation store (Ollie's). I knew it would be a horrible book with an obvious slant, given what I know about the guy. I just wanted to see with my own eyes what he was shilling and pushing for his narrative.
  6. Yes, it is a sad story. Nonetheless, if things like this can be used to help grieving families, then I'm all for giving them the free advertising and publicity.
  7. Bam Bam is a very interesting guy, to say the least. He has never been one to mince words, and he doesn't GAF what people think about him.
  8. I can see Steve Dangle screaming like Sam Kinison over this - like he does with everything else.
  9. I've leveled some unfounded accusations in the past about players cashing in and going downhill after raking in a humongous contract following a highly productive season. Granted, there are players who have given credence to that narrative. However, I have to remember to have an open mind that this is not always the case. Captain Jack is having legitimate issues, especially with the surgery he needs. I'd say that's a big difference.
  10. I could see that. It is a big part of our history. Just don't bring back that hideous Darcy Regier toupee!
  11. I really hope Skinner turns it around this upcoming season for the better.
  12. Another possible name: Amigone
  13. Ouch... Mine would either be Equal Victories or Long Way Down (the latter in homage to the Goo Goo Dolls song).
  14. A lot of us may know about Hunter's Hope from Jim & Jill Kelly. Here's a similar organization started by Sabres alum Curtis Brown and his wife Ami. https://www.theaubribrownclub.org/ Check it out. We all may know others who need the help.
  15. I liked the goat head too, but it needs to stay in that epoch of time.
  16. I miss Curtis Brown. He and his wife managed to bounce back after they lost their daughter to SIDS. Speaking of which, he followed Christ, and was on the same team as a guy named Satan. Imagine that! And the Peca hit on Tie Domi right after he stepped out of the penalty box... Those were the days. We'll be back there someday.
  17. Sounds like something the Bills are doing.
  18. Makes sense, now that you've explained it.
  19. I would be shocked to see Power in Blue and Gold in less than 2 years time. Refresh my memory: who's R2?
  20. I get what you're saying; and yet, it seems like you're catching flak over it. It is hard to keep up with everything going on. This is a whole different ball game, and the medical professionals are doing their best with the intent to provide long-lasting positive results. Having said that, if we can't be flexible like Gumby and roll with the punches, then we'll be like boxers who never wake up from a post-fight coma.
  21. Getting it through the heads of the tin foil hat crowd that the CDC is doing everything possible in its power to stop a pandemic for everyone's benefit is an impossible sell with them. We can't talk sense into people who are off in their own little world like this. Even worse, certain right-wing church "leaders" gave their followers the anti-vax Kool-Aid, and they're drinking it like fish in water Not to mention that the ignorance of their followers aids and abets their gravy train.
  22. WADR to @PerreaultForever, I began to wonder if he was a redux of @deluca67. Not quite. That other guy could be downright visceral, myopic, and hateful. PF is just letting us all know that he's very frustrated with the process.
