The more I thought about this thread, the more I've grown to loathe it. Did I talk about relegation in the past? Yes. Have I expressed my frustration with the Sabres missing the playoffs and how certain personnel didn't work out? Absolutely. But the reality is that this cannot last forever, and I've said that as well. After all, the Bills went 17 years without making the playoffs, and now they're a serious contender for the Super Bowl. Don't give up hope. We will be back in the playoffs one day. Perhaps a lot sooner than we think.

Addendum: in retrospect, I know I was highly critical of Darcy Regier, especially since I had mocked his cup of coffee playing career. Laugh at me if you want, but he was a pretty decent GM FTMP. Also, on-ice success doesn't always translate into positive coaching/FO results, i.e. Wayne Gretzky.

See, that's what would add to the dimension of the broadcasts. He made things interesting instead of mundane and boring - especially those suits that would put a certain ZZTop song to shame. ATST, for a man that's in his late 80s, he is not going to change with the times. He is clearly set in his ways (which isn't necessarily a bad thing); but given the trigger-happy attitude of those with fragile minds, he would have to f@rt in a precise way that would please them without any knowledge of what the rules are in advance or be put in a really dicey situation like the "Coin Toss" scene in No Country For Old Men.

No kidding! Aside from the fact that Scotty Bowman was their head coach, this was also post-Original Six. There are many thankless jobs out there. This is one of them.
