  1. No problem, I see most of the draft sites list him at 5’11” 181. EP has the most info, I like it. I like HockeyDB when looking up some older stats and who guys played with.
  2. Craig Simpson is a huge Leafblower. He does this all year on a national network. I’m watching a junior playoff game. The game is going to overtime and the announcer gives his team the edge because they beat the other team twice in OT during the regular season., which was 3 on 3. Clueless.
  3. My source was HockeyDB where he is listed as 5’9 170.
  4. I guess he can still be a trigger man on PP2 but he’s not what I see as a 4th liner. Usually high energy grinders fill those spots. Being scratched for a few games probably foreshadowed his departure.
  5. They should come out like gorillas released from their cages, but they are the Leafs. I wouldn’t bet against them tonight but they are led by Matthews and Marner, playoff underperformers.
  6. I looked at the last 20 or so drafts to see who went 13th. Some of the best: Dustin Brown ‘03 Josh Morrissey ‘13 Nick Suzuki ‘17 Lars Eller ‘07 Drew Stafford ‘04 Alex Semin ‘02 Z.Kassian ‘09 R.Faksa ‘12 J.Vrana ‘14 Some of the worst: M.Zagrapan ‘05, C.Teubert ‘08, B.Gormley ‘10, J.Zboril ‘15 The last 5 years (some are still prospects or just breaking in): Ty Dellandrea, Spencer Knight, Seth Jarvis, Matthew Coronato, Frank Nazar
  7. Reinbacher is not playing at the U18 so a few guys behind him may have great tournaments. There is also a chance of recency bias with the scouts at the U18.
  8. I feel the same way. ASP may be the best offensive Dman in the draft but we have a few of those. He is also Bryson sized, which bothers me. If we had 4 guys like Mule and needed a PP QB then that is a different story.
  9. A few of these guys are FA. Nikita Novikov could surprise and help the D pipeline. He has played 94 KHL games before turning 20 (July ‘23). That league doesn’t give much ice time to young players but he has experienced a lot of games and practices at a high level over two years. 6’3” 200+ lbs. It would be interesting to see what he could do in the AHL next season. Viktor Neuchev got 57 games in the KHL this year. He’s the guy that got 40 goals in 61 games the previous year in the MHL (junior). He doesn’t turn 20 until October. 6’2” 165lbs so he may need a lot of gym work and nutrition. Kisakov didn’t do much this year but he can take a step next season and help in the transition to N.Am. for these two.
  10. His composite list rankings has been in the teens but a good showing at this tournament could elevate him into the top ten. If he is available at 13 he could be BPA. He would probably never get the ice time or PP time to show what he’s got in Buffalo but you take him if he is that good and move him for upgrade(s) if you have to.
  11. I’m expecting Lake Ontario to rise overnight as hundreds of thousands of members of Leaf Nation jump in after another embarrassing loss at home. Following a series sweep, MLSE makes a trade with Atlanta to take the entire team in exchange for their expansion draft rights. Almost as good as the Sabres winning a Cup for me.
  12. The old spear him before he spears you trick. I’m sure those two actually enjoy those battles.
  13. I got the same feeling from his comments on Joki and UPL. They are young and could take a step but 4D is an important piece to add. He said internal competition is great and drives improvement. Bringing in one or two 4-5 D will do that.
  14. I’m retired and not in a rush, like most of the other drivers seem to be. I wave others through.
  15. Levi level goaltending will be enough to get them in the playoffs if they run back the same roster. I want to see some help brought in, especially on D (Graves/Dumba). I would still like a guy like Varlamov signed as well but I don’t think KA wants to kick UPL/Comrie to the curb. Developing a better PK system may require some work and discipline but a forward acquisition and a guy like Graves would really help. Better goaltending will also make a PK improvement.
  16. 8-0 now, Sandin-Pellikka has 1G 4A. Craig Button used a good word to describe his game, poise. The only Canada player I’ve liked is Matthew Wood, big RW played at UConn as a 17 year old.
  17. 6-0 Sweden after two. Canada put in a 16 year old goalie D’Aigle, who played well. Sandin-Pellikka with his 4th point of the game. Dragicevic, the WHL high scoring Dman, is -4.
  18. I’m watching Canada vs Sweden at the U18 Worlds. 5-0 Sweden after 1. Sandin-Pellikka with 3 points. Bjarnasson, top rated North American goalie, has let in 5 goals on 7 shots.
  19. Nadeau is the first star with 2G and 1A as Gatineau sweeps their 2nd round series. Komarov with an assist as Quebec sweeps their 2nd round series.
  20. Contrarian move, there’s always upsets, why not last year’s President’s trophy winner finding their game.
