He’s a LHD as well, which bumps him down a notch in my mind.

According to Pierre Lebrun, Sabres have interest in Brett Pesce.

It sounds like they will be getting DeAngelo back on July 9th. Their RHD would contain 4 NHLers (Burns, Pesce, Chatfield, DeAngelo) so I think they are preparing to move Pesce. -
You need to be this tall to get on this ride, kids.

I don’t want them to pick another small skilled forward in the second. Cristall, Brinkley, Perron may be BPA but they not what the Sabres need. RHD Dragicevic is a riverboat gambler but has some size and upside. RHD Akey is a good all round player. RHD Strbak is defense first and solid. C Danny Nelson is intriguing to me. He was rising on a few lists. Played USNTDP and had a good finish to the year at the U18s. 6’3” 202. He was converted from D to C, which is unusual but suggests a lot of versatility and defensive acumen. W Kalan Lind is another guy with decent size who could develop into something solid. C Gracyn Sawchyn is not big but very skilled. W Ethan Gauthier is another not big but good all round winger.

Beau Akey is good, watched him in a few games this year. He was Barrie’s PP QB until Brandt Clarke came back to the OHL. Good all round game and a RHD. Strbak is more D oriented but I like him. He’s a solid defender.

Couldn’t watch because I was at a function. BPA by a wide margin! He is small but doesn’t play small. Sturdy, wins battles, best defensive forward prospect, 3rd in WHL scoring in his draft year. Best junior playmaker since McJesus, closer to McJesus than he is to the 3rd place guy. I wanted some size but you can’t pass up this talent. He has a great chance to lead the WHL in scoring this year. Ok, after watching that film room footage from EP, holy smokes this kid is good! Did anyone else that watched this video get Gretzky vibes? How many of his assists were from behind the net? His work ethic seems incredible. This guy could fill out and be a fire hydrant like Marchand. OK KA, find some good Dmen tomorrow.

You can give Arizona a top prospect and it probably will never come back to bite you.

That’s a lot for a guy that is below a point per game.

They can’t afford to keep Graves.

Hill had more games played than Comrie, UPL and Levi put together. -
Ross Colton to Colorado for a second rounder. He’s the kind of guy that could have replaced Girgs.

Oilers may not re-sign Klim Kostin. Big Russian (6’3” 215) fourth liner got 11 goals in 57 games last year. If the Sabres had a spot on the forward roster, I would take a chance on him. I thought he played a decent fourth line role. He wants a raise while the Oilers want a minimum wage 4th line.

Playfair?

If they do get Simashev, he’s not stepping into the lineup for at least 2 years. A lot can change by then. Imagine a top seven that looks like: Dahlin, Power, Hanifin, Samuelsson, Simashev, Johnson, Novikov,. All LHD but very solid. I still prefer Simashev to ASP, handedness be damned. I also prefer Pesce to Hanifin mostly for playing style and being a RHD. The Soviets iced some pretty good teams in the 70s and 80s that were pretty much all left handed. The odd right handed players stood out like sore thumbs. The formidable green unit of Fetisov, Kasatonov, Larionov, Makarov and Krutov were all lefties. I’m not advocating going this way but I just want to point out it can be done at a high level

Live look at KA in his room.
-
I find it hard to believe but a few mocks I listened to yesterday had him in the teens.
-
He’s still under contract in Russia for two more years. Lots of time to get Pesce and make some playoff runs before you need to make a decision.
-
I listened to hockeyprospects podcast and Simashev was called a cross between Heiskanen and K’Andre Miller.

Karlsson wins because of his scoring. Dahlin out scores Lindholm by 20 points and finishes 4 spots behind him. -
He should be available at 45. Strbak is another RHD I like there.
-
Sabres had many chances to weaponize their cap space in the past. KA probably didn’t want to disrupt the room. Use it wisely now but don’t sweat getting near the limit.

I want this guy but 8 years is a lot for a soon to be 29 year old. 6 or 7 years I could live with, may have to bump up the AAV. -
23 & 24 year old Dmen that got some games in with Chicago last year.

His impact in Buffalo cannot be denied.
