Load management can keep him and the rest of the D corps healthier.

The more pressure on KC the more chance the return is diminished. He’s been there a long time but this off season may be his most challenging and his job could be on the line.

Cap space is limited everywhere, especially after these signings. I count five teams over the cap (LAK, PP, TBL, VC & VGK). CA, MC & TML are a few dollars from max with bodies to add. Quite a few teams are set in goal so the market is dwindling. Cheveldayoff isn’t desperate but there may not be much of a market at the deadline. If they are on the bubble, trading that calibre of goalie torpedoes their chances.

They would have to give up a lot, like Pesce + to get Karlsson. If San Jose retains $, even more.

Haven’t heard any Bertuzzi rumours, he’s a big piece for someone. Lots of teams in cap hell, these guys are not going to get the dollars they were hoping for.

I would take him for Joki +.

Reaves was a pylon a couple of years ago, three years is two too many. Chicago may want him to protect Bedard after 1 year of doing nothing in Toronto.

And he will be making NHL money.

Clifton was in Boston long enough to have played with some leaders like Chara and Bergeron. He doesn’t go back to their Cup days but being around those guys plus Rask and Krejci surely taught him a thing or two. EJ’s Cup win was a huge moment for a long time Avanlanche. He saw McKinnon, Makar, Rantanen andLandeskog go from prospects to winners. He won’t play every day but I think his influence will be great. It will be another voice instead of KO, but this one has gone all of the way.

He obviously loved his time in Buffalo to re-sign for less money. He might spend some time in the press box while Rousek/Savoie/Benson/Kulich get a look. I still want VO gone. Bring in a vet C who can win a few draws and play on the PK. Load management for KO and EJ + injuries will give the fringe guys some ice time. Save up some energy for the playoffs.

Need to target Ekblad in a trade to ice four of them.

I like this pickup. He’s got a few good years in front of him. Grit, defensive ability and good on the PK. Those are all qualities the Sabres needed. DG can deploy him with Power and Clifton can worry about protecting the house.

Reaves is a liability, I hope they play him a lot.

I liked Milic or Suchanek but this guy has potential.

I loved his compete vs Canada at the U18s and WJ, it seemed like he never left the ice. Good size, RHD and a defense first mindset. I like the fact he made Slovakia’s WJ when he was 16. Solid pick, will have time to develop in the NCAA.

That is correct. There is a tiny loophole that could be argued. He played in the USHL for 34 games in the 20/21 Covid-19 season after playing 22 games in the WHL in 19/20. That could give him 4 junior seasons, which could allow him to play in the AHL.
