Last year DG had Quinn, Krebs and JJP rotate into the lineup at the start of the season. Once they proved they could handle it they got more and more ice time. Perhaps this season DG has Benson, Rousek and Savoie on a similar rotation. If the two young guys go back to the WHL then Kulich and Rosen get a shot.

I watched the Cozens pre game interview. He said it was awkward signing Leafs jerseys but he understood what it meant for the kids.

Not related to the question of this thread but I think Benson will end up as the second most productive player in this draft, after Bedard. Many were drafted ahead of him due to being C, D or size but he has the IQ and skill to put up big numbers.

I hope Sportsnet + shows this one tonight. Must win against these guys every time. Interested in watching Power, UPL, Krebs and Rousek. Cozens seems to like beating the Leafs, he’ll be an important player tonight.

Thank goodness there are more preseason games to dissect Benson’s game for KA & DG. I have only been able to watch the game highlights so I can’t judge him on most of his shifts. It sounds like he has been impressive and DG raves about his play. I say that if he continues to play well you give him a look in the regular season. If he is contributing and putting up points it may be hard to send him back. I think Savoie gets a conditioning stint in Rochester, maybe a few games in Buffalo and then these two go back as a package deal to the WHL. The Wild will figure out their coaching issues in that time frame too.

I just watched Levi’s post game interview. His stall is next to EJ’s, I wonder if that is by design? I always try and see what the dressing room seating is like in these interviews, probably read too much into this stuff.

The Sabres should be a beast in OT as they can have Dahlin or Power on for around 4 minutes plus the offensive firepower of the forward group.

I have Sportsnet + which usually gets me all of the games but it was blocked. I will be pi**ed off if that is the case in the regular season. Last year I got all of the Sabres games, can’t remember the pre season ones though.

Good point. Savoie may stick around because of his injury. Maybe he gets a look too. His speed is labelled as NHL caliber.

Before the Boosh trade I thought there was no way Bryson was making the Sabres. Now I’m not so sure. Johnson and Novikov can’t develop fast enough for my liking. I can handle Stillman and Clague’s warts more than his.

It may sound crazy but Benson may get a look in the regular season. He is getting rave reviews from teammates and DG. I know they want to pump his tires and put him in a position to succeed but he has done well and seems to elevate everyone’s game.

Sad when your go to Dman is Bryson. DG knows him best is all I can come up with.

Bryson with 3.5 more minutes than the next highest Dman Ryan Johnson.

The D for this game is interesting, the 3 guys fighting for the 7&8 spots and Ryan Johnson, Metsa, Novikov and Davies. Greenway, Jost, Krebs and JJP are the only NHL forwards.

I have always been leery of bringing him in but the comments about the culture being solid, Kane being mature and motivated have me on the fence. If PK and KA want it to happen, I would give VO lots of opportunity to bump up his numbers, trade him when Kane is ready to sign.

I also think Rousek makes it first due to his age, maturity and more well rounded game. Between Rosen and Kulich, I chose Kulich because he looks physically stronger than Rosen despite being younger.

I don’t think he will suck at camp, he is driven and has the mental makeup to build on his 7 game stint. If he does suck, then KA doesn’t have to trade or waive anybody, Levi goes to Rochester.

Don’t forget Savoie as an option. He may get a conditioning stint in Rochester and then an audition in Buffalo before deciding his future.

DG described him with one word, grit. He should become popular in Buffalo.

During DG’s nterview he mentioned the chemistry between Mitts and Tuch. He may want 3 scoring lines based on those three pairings to create difficult matchups for the opposition. Benson, Kulich and Rosen must be loving these linemates. Savoie is in the stands drooling. I think the D will move around some, there will be injuries and rest periods. Clifton may surprise and mesh well with Dahlin. Mule and EJ would be a shutdown and PK1 unit. Like many I want a better partner for Power but Joki can step up and do this.
