I think it is fundamental to team culture to defend a teammate after a dirty hit. I dislike the running after a guy that delivered a clean hit but when your top scorer got a vicious hit to the head and is laying there, someone has to get into someone’s grill. Their reputation is already at the bottom of the barrel and this just confirms it to the rest of the league. You don’t need to goon it up, just stand up for a teammate that is in a crumpled heap from a cheap shot. A lot of bashing here has been towards Cozens and he deserves it but Mule and Power are examples of the big wimps that the Sabres put on the ice. Mule is a big dude and he needs to set aside his goofy, dressing room glue guy personality and defend a friend that just got creamed. Power even skates away after UPL got mugged a few times this year.

I do not feel bad for Nashville but they are an example of a rebuild on the fly gone wrong. They have an all star goalie in Saros, a Norris defenseman in Josi and a top line forward in Forsberg. They added Cup winners with some tread on their tires like Stamkos, O’Reilly, Marchesseault and Schenn. Their coach is considered very good and their GM has tons of NHL experience, mainly as a coach. They don’t seem to have any strong prospects on the big club and are lacking some offensive punch. There should be plenty of leadership to get them through adversity. It’s interesting how you can add experience and talent but not have chemistry. Zucker is such a good fit for Buffalo, they need more like him.
