I hope the new coach tries Sam at 3C.
He may not be as productive there but should get some good matchups and be able to feed his wingers.
Having 3 scoring lines would help everyone's even strength scoring.
A lot of his points would come from remaining on the #1 PP unit.
Since the Bobby Orr era the award has gone to one of if not the top scoring defenseman.
The only exception I can recall is Rod Langway. Doughty's numbers were not eye popping either, but he drove their possession game.
Risto's numbers will probably improve with a higher scoring lineup. He may get some consideration.
He is big and likes to be physical. He does need to improve his defensive game to be considered elite.
I agree.
Moulson needs to go to Vegas, eliminating one problem.
I think Ennis still has value for a trade, find a taker.
Bogo will probably be staying so let's live with him.
Gorges can be a depth D for one year and he comes off the books in time for our big RFAs.
You need players that embrace their roles on the team.
Moulson and Ennis have been first line players and Girgs even had a taste of it under Nolan. They may feel they deserve better.
Yes we need to hold off on high expectations for Guhle.
He will make mistakes but will also give them a missing element, speed from the D.
I think he makes the team out of camp, but as a 5-6 D.
He did score 29 points in 32 games this season after the trade to Prince George.
Probably was shut down D in Prince Albert and then the new team wanted him to be leading the rush and PP QB.
I'm not researching their team too heavily, but, Fleury should move, shedding 5.75 million.
The Blackhawks have a cap expert too, but their core is now overvalued, as was the Kings.....
I believe Botterill is a good choice. He sounds like a cap expert but I would think he has an eye for talent as well. If not, then he needs to bring in some great evaluators. He's been part of some great teams so he deserves some credit.
A cap expert sounds more like an accountant than a GM.
I know the game is not played on paper, but I don't think Ottawa is that good. Karlsson is all world but Turris and Brassard don't scare me as top 2 C.
Boston's core is a year older, I can see them drop off.
Lundqvist has been great these playoffs but I he showed some cracks this year.
Health, like Tampa showed could swap out a few teams as well.
I get this and there is a need to change the culture. You also need a few people who want to be in Buffalo, not just looking at a stepping stone and a raise.
These guys can bring in their hangers on from other organizations.
I'm hoping Gus gets some confidence playing here and finds another gear.
He's still young enough to turn into a solid bottom six player for the Sabres. The flip side is a good showing could appeal to another team wanting to make a deal.
Everyone will probably get evaluated by the new GM.
Just because there hadn't been success on the ice doesn't mean we don't have some quality people behind the scenes.
For example, our equipment guys could be the best skate sharpeners in the league.
