Agree, we have lots of right handed wingers in the prospect pool. From what I've seen of Tippett, he is similar to Baptiste but not as fast. We need D with the big club and in the pool so leaning that way is the right move. Trading up or down to get GMTM's guy could net us extra assets as well.

From what I've seen Draisaitl is not faster than Sam. A full year with McDavid pads your stats more than 2/3 of a year with Jack. Let's give this comparison more time. They are different players and I think Sam develops into a good 200 foot player that makes people around him better.

I would gamble on Makar for D-men. Jost played at that level last year and seems to have evolved fine in the NCAA this year. There is always the chance GMTM takes BPA, even though we need a D. Same scenario as last year.

I like Larry more but would not mind either. Gus may have more upside but Larry seems to embrace the role. Larry may feel different if it was 4C if Sam moves to 3C. As stated earlier, Asplund, Pu, Estephan and Malone could be pressing for a job in a few years. One aspect of Pu's game that could really help is faceoffs. I believe he is near the top in the OHL. Hope this skill transfers to his pro game.

I think Smith played two games. His ice time was given to Nylander in the second game because I only recall a few shifts. They're probably going to do something similar with Malone tonight, only so much ice to entice a few of these guys to sign now. Too bad this carrot won't work for Cal P.
