The NHL draft is difficult enough without having any data or views on prospects. Maybe this is the time to change it to a 19 year old draft. Players would have one more year of development to prepare them for pro hockey. The CHL would keep top players for an extra year. 19 year olds could be assigned to the AHL if their NHL team figures that is best for their next step. The NHL would make better selections by having more mature players and an extra year of scouting. There may have to be an option for elite 18 year olds to be selected in the first round only.

I am anxiously waiting for Dahlin to get going. He has too much talent to not be producing. Watched the Habs-Canucks game. Pettersson is going through the same thing, he had 1 assist in 6 games. No one would have predicted that and I am sure he will ramp it up. Another thing I thought about with Dahlin is that he is adjusting to the muscle and weight he put on. He can be a difference maker and I am willing to give him a bit more time to get going and to continue his path towards being a top Dan in this league.

Like you, I’m very disappointed in last night’s result. The old saying that hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard came into play last night. That fire in the belly to win every little battle was not there. They were trying but it was more like what Inkman is saying, squeezing the sticks too tightly. I am always behind the Sabres but they are making it harder as time goes on. Dahlin is my favourite player and he needs to just play. He can be a difference maker, he needs to play instinctively and beat guys with his puck handling and generate offense. On the D side of the puck, he needs to think about positioning and tow the party line.

I thought they played better than the Caps. Thompson being the go to guy for gaining the zone on the PP, NO! Dahlin has got to bring his A game soon.

I don’t care if Caps fans want to put an asterisk beside a win, it will be a win. The Sabres need to win to stay afloat in the playoff hunt. They outplayed them with a full roster last time so no excuses. Do it for Linus. Let’s go Buffalo!

Flyers have been talked about as the favourites in this division. Just get to the playoffs and we will all be happy.

If this is an extended absence they will have to get Tokarski. I think they need 3 goalies available.

Wow, I was worried about the goaltending behind Linus. I can’t believe my nightmare has come to life already. Hutton could play well but he did not give me a warm fuzzy feeling the other night. Let’s go Buffalo! Fingers crossed instead of hopeful anticipation.

What happened with the top of the 2016 draft class? Matthews grew a pedaphile moustache, signed for a quick exit via UFA (the reverse Tavares for the Leafs). Laine has been unhappy in Winnipeg for years and wants out. Dubois wants out of Columbus. Puuljujarvi has already sat out a year because he wanted out of Edmonton.

He is my biggest disappointment so far. He has not been a factor on the positive side of the ledger. I need to relax as it is only 2 games in and he is 20 years old. I just expect a lot and hate the chatter of Makar, Hughes and Heiskanen winning all of the Norris trophies for the next 15 years.
