  1. I see some Mark Stone in him as well.
  2. Cozens and Newhook could be a good pair of forwards to stay together.
  3. Nice goal for JJ.
  4. JJ Peterka with an assist in Germany’s 5-3 loss to Finland. I didn’t watch much of it so no report on his play. The little I watched, Finns had the puck 90% of the time.
  5. I hope you’re right. Depth will be important and he may get his chance. How he competes in his games vs how Arttu and Asplund play will determine his fate. How he spent his off season and his mental approach will be key to him taking a step forward.
  6. They got “lucky” that Kucherov is on LTIR for the season. They miss out on having him for the regular season but I think he is back for the playoffs, where their cap is not an issue. They have a great chance to repeat but will be in cap he’ll unless Seattle takes Johnson + off of their hands next year.
  7. That’s a big loss, good thing there is some depth. No one can be added to the bubble so they will either re-jig the lines or move someone up. Mercer played a few shifts there after Dach left. I’d like to see Tomasino or Suzuki tried in that slot.
  8. I thought Dylan Holloway was the weakest player for Canada.
  9. 1-0 Canada. Cozens was OK. Quinn looked good. Their line was dominant possession wise but Dach was a big factor in that. Quinn made some nice steals, channeling his inner Mark Stone. He was positionally sound and looked like he belonged. Good first game for him at the national level. Late bloomer has never played for Hockey Canada before. Nice debut. Cozens was the go to guy on D-zone face offs in the last minute, like he was last year. He won one and lost one. He didn’t get any room to showcase his speed but used his body a few times to protect the puck. I expected more but these guys have not played since March so they need some slack.
  10. Went for X-ray.
  11. By field is on line #4, he has used his big body to bang some Russians on the forecheck. I like Bowen Byram’s game.
  12. I have a hard time hating the Russians with Larionov behind their bench, always liked that guy. Quinn didn’t look out of place, not blazing speed but he was well positioned and had a great chance. Askarov looks good.
  13. Cozens line has spent 90% of their shifts in the Russian end. Dominant possession time. Dach’s big body is the main reason but Cozens and Quinn have made some nice plays.
  14. I have always wanted “TV” to be like my electricity, pay for what you use. I only watch one channel at a time so I should only be charged for that channel. When my TV is off I should not pay anything. If I want to watch a premium broadcast or stream I will pay the appropriate rates.
  15. TSN is lacking content but they are putting out some World Juniors stuff. They had a word association game with D-man Thomas Harley. Cozens was speed while Quinn was sneaky.
  16. Good point about Byfield waking up, he would not have been picked if performance at camp was the only criteria. He was disappointing at last year’s tournament but he was 17 and a fourth liner. Your thought on the goalies gave me a flashback of the ‘98 Olympics when Hayek stoned Canada in the semis.
  17. I love this tournament and it’s even more exciting having two Sabres prospects on Team Canada. If Johnson makes Team USA he will be on my must watch list as well.
  18. I would hope the taxi squad guys would be part of the team for practices, so they are ready to go when called upon. They would be more familiar with line mates, D partners etc...
  19. I think Linus still has some upside and think he will improve his numbers this season. One guy that jumped out at me was Demko for the Canucks. He is a very promising goalie but he has only played 37 NHL games with worse numbers than Linus.
  20. Sharpen your edges.
  21. Cozens’ post scrimmage press conference clips. Two point game for him in a 4-2 win. He talks about improving his shooting. https://www.tsn.ca/hockey-canada/video/working-on-his-release-cozens-aims-to-emulate-eichel~2079347
  22. Very positive article. I find it interesting that his personal trainer thinks he can make the jump this year. The guy works with Claude Giroux, so he’s no chump. I hope he makes Team Canada so we can get some great views of Cozens and Quinn.
  23. Dahlin will be able to put up some big numbers that will come close to Hughes. Hughes may outscore him but he will still be small and weaker. I see Hughes as a modern Brian Leetch, big numbers but a defensive liability. I think Dahlin can be a cross between Hedman and Lidstrom.
