I hope the team competes every night so that a loss will not sting as badly. Like others have stated, goaltending is a key in stabilizing the team. Ullnark/Mrazc? I watched a lot of the Norrhern division games and liked that Ottawa was a pain to play against and was not a gimme 2 points. The Sabres need to have that attitude and build on it.

NHL amateur scout. Finding the diamond in the rough that develops into an NHL regular. Watching junior hockey every night. I’m semi retired now so this could free me up to travel anywhere. I would love to be the floater who gets sent to NCAA,USHL, WHL, QMJHL games and even Europe a few times a year to give my two cents on other scouts’ views.

Sam saw first hand the growth of the young guys and Don Granato’s impact. If he thinks that adding goaltending plus a good return for Jack would put them in the playoff mix he may sign. I would like to see Sam stay and be the veteran presence, if he wants to remain a Sabre.

From what I’ve read it was during their run of 2010. Their management didn’t want any distractions and once they won the Cup they didn’t want to tarnish it. I can’t believe they gave that guy a recommendation that got him more jobs. Sweeping it into the rug, rolling up the rug and selling it off.

Get two good goalies either through trade or signings and they will be in almost all games. I don’t know if they will be playoff caliber but an upward trajectory all season long is achievable. The returns for our “core” should be young character guys that will blend in with the current youth and forge a team identity. There will be growing pains but if the goaltending keeps them in games the young guns may have some ‘cardiac kids’ moments to build on. If the team is showing well and competing the league will take notice and people will be interested in joining the organization.

Is it possible the NHL is telling teams to hold off on this trade until the Cup is awarded?

Perhaps the Sabres do not want average vets that need protection in the expansion draft. If you get 3 or4 guys for Jack then the protection list changes a lot. Do you risk losing an average piece just acquired or a potential middle 6 guy like Asplund? If they do multiple deals (Jack, Sam and Risto) they may get 6-9 players back.

Point is shooting at 32% according to HNIC.

I’ve only seen him at the U18 but I liked his game. Another guy I like from that team is Brennan Othmann. He seems to be a mid to late first rounder so there is almost no chance for the Sabres.

I remember a commercial for the Granada where a diamond cutter was working a precious stone in the back seat. The ride was so smooth he never missed.

Vegas is obviously a success story but I cannot cheer for them to win a Cup. Expansion teams should have to “suffer” first.

Hard no on Nylander, I would rather get a 3rd round pick. Zadorov is useful but doesn’t move the needle for me.
