I find it hard to gauge Reinhart’s leadership with the Sabres but he has had that role before. Captain of the Kootenay Ice, Captain of Team Canada at the Hlinka U18. Captain of Team Canada at the IIHF U18 and Assistant Captain for Team Canada at the IIHF U20. I would like to see him extend with the Sabres and be a candidate for the C.

Yeah, I hate the look of a broken stick after a bad play. Leadership is channeling the anger into making something happen next time. I am old and cheap so those $300 sticks snapping make me cringe.

Trade him to the Blues for ROR and Kyrou.

Clarke slashed Kharlamov, Yakushev was good but not their go-to.

Eakin finally does something and he is back on the sidelines. I have no problem with this, I can’t believe he got a two year deal. Go Murray, use that big body to win some battles and create space.

Would be interesting if non playoff teams would be able to protect one extra player.

Sabres can’t spoil the Pens playoffs bid but can sow some seeds of doubt by beating them. How good can they be to be beaten by Doogie?

Gaudreau starting the SF game for Canada. He’s the number 1 goalie. 2nd rounder if he has a few more good games.

And they use it on Okposo because KA figures Skinner will return to 30 goal form.

Would be awesome if Skinner did the same. Francis knows him enough that he may be opposed to take him at any cost.

I don’t like their chances if they go all Alamo this early.

My local goalie prospect Ben Gaudreau made 29 saves to help Canada past the Czechs 10-3 in the QF game at the U18s. Not bad for not having played since March 2020.

This a small sample of his work but I do not see Guenther as a 1st overall choice. He’s had a few flashes of talent but he does not look like a go-to guy that I envision a #1 pick to be. Similar sample size with Beniers, but with tougher competition at the U20 and I liked him a lot more. Clarke is good but I don’t see him as a #1 either. He’s no Cale Makar.

I have TSN but no vaccine. I would gladly make that trade. Getting first shot on Friday though.

Getting my first shot of Astra Zeneca this Friday. I’ve heard of hangover type side effects. The alternative was Sputnik V but I was leary about them adding a microchip that would be linked to my phone.

I would prefer the Rangers make the playoffs than the Bruins. However, a good game against these guys and a possible win will continue the growth they have shown under DG. Mustard Wieners!

The Hockey News has a 2020 re-draft. Quinn is 13 and Peterka is 20. I couldn’t provide a link, it was a story in my Apple News. In case you were wondering I am not a techie.

I think TSN is showing all of the Canada games. I know most of you are interested in USA games though.

U18 tournament starts tomorrow in Texas. Lots of potential high draft picks are playing. Some guys have not played in over a year so it will be difficult for them and this may be their only opportunity for scouts to see them before the draft. It’s tough to put a lot of weight on a short tournament but some will standout and rise because of it. Here is a link to the Hockey News story on 15 players to watch. I’ve watched him play minor hockey and in the OHL, I think he may go in the second or third round.

Sabres 2nd rounder will be interesting, a “first rounder” that slips, like JJP in ‘20 perhaps. Arizona losing their pick takes the 32 team draft back to 31.
