  1. Forsberg, the Sens goalie, bobbled the puck all night long. He made the saves but didn’t look good. The Sabres were a bit unlucky to not capitalize on a few of those. Anderson was way better and the difference.
  2. Mitts had 5 giveaways, I thought he looked shaky most of the game. Cozens was solid, winning most of his battles and hustling both ways. Boosh was definitely noticeable in a physical way. Peterka was good and didn’t look like a rookie. Anderson won this game with solid saves. Power may have been the worst Dman but played better in the second half of the game.
  3. I know two were empty netters but their goal differential sits at+3. If they keep it near even they will be in the hunt for a playoff spot. I think the offense is improved simply by being a year older/wiser. Goaltending is off to a good start, Comrie will have to be decent in order for team success.
  4. Cozens looks good out there, using his speed and size. He looks poised for a breakout season and an extension. He looks good on PK as well.
  5. That is good. Any doubt in the Leafs minds about their goaltending will make it more challenging for them to lock any game down. They will play a run and gun game which will make them open to odd man rushes and more heartbreaks like this. Good thing they have $4 in cap room while carrying 20/23 players. The Toronto media will stir up the masses if they lose to the Caps tonight.
  6. Let’s get the season started right, with a W. This is a team they need to beat regularly in order to advance up the ranks. Show them who’s rebuild is better from the get go. The Leafs lost so the Sabres can move ahead of them. These games are just as important as the March and April ones, it just doesn’t have the sense of urgency attached. Let’s go Buffalo!
  7. I like this. Mule will not produce big numbers but he will be a key partner for Dahlin or Power. He sounds like a key guy in the room and has been a leader on USA and NCAA teams. He’s another guy that may wear a letter in a few years. He will turn out comparable to Mike Ramsey.
  8. Good for Donnie! He is a smart coach who has a positive impact on the culture of his team. This is the youngest team in the league and he has a great opportunity to mold it into a very good team. Congratulations.
  9. In my working life I don’t think I have met a person raised on a farm who I didn’t like. They are early for work, strong, have a great work ethic and don’t mind getting dirty. These are valued qualities in the world of tradespeople.
  10. I’ve been in Stellarton and Truro areas. Tatamagouche is still bad.
  11. I’m still in Nova Scotia restoring power, let me know when the ceremony is, I can bring kindling and matches.
  12. The other wasn’t elite, he was generational. Another term that gets thrown out there a lot.
  13. I’m on my way to help with power restoration. It sounds like there is not enough equipment and hardware to replace what’s been damaged. It may take a while to get enough poles, insulators, transformers and conductor from suppliers. The only positive I can think of is that it is not winter so people won’t freeze. The ice storm of 1998 was scary, mid January.
  14. They have plenty of C prospects plus the existing centres make this interesting going forward. Thompson, Cozens, Mittelstadt, Krebs, Asplund, Girgensons and Sheahan are all possibilities for this year. High end picks like Savoie and Kulich may force their way onto the team next season. Guys can move to the wing and I can see rolling 4 lines that can score, with all of this talent. Kozak may be the guy that embraces the 4C role and gets significant ice time because of PK, faceoffs and checking assignments etc…
  15. THW article not only predicts the Sabres make the playoffs, it says they will get by the first round. If this happened vs the Leafs I would be over the moon.
  16. But no NS sighting. No power for most of the province after Fiona. Communication is very limited too.
  17. I think you’re not a fan of faceoff stats. I don’t care about the stats too much, there is not much difference between 48.9% and 51.1% when two guys are facing off. What I like is having a guy that will win important draws in the D zone in the last minute protecting a lead or the O zone when down a goal. Possession is huge with seconds left and a game on the line. Overtime is another instance where possession leads to the first scoring chance(s). This is a skill that is tough to measure but someone on the coaching staff should have a handle on who is hot and wins a lot of key draws.
  18. Still not a reason to bring Eakin back. Someone needs to become good and be the go to guy.
  19. Hope you are safe. That was quite the storm. Stay safe. I see 80% of Nova Scotia and 90% of Prince Edward Island are without power., more than half a million customers. I am on standby to head that way for power restoration efforts. The local utIlities are not out assessing damage yet, still too stormy.
  20. Girgs playing C.
  21. Agree with this. I think Muel, Boosh get PK1 while Joki and Dahlin or Power get PK2. Dahlin gets PP1 while Power gets PP2. Bryson gets the least ice time out of the six. Ice time will probably be Dahlin, Power, Muel, Joki, Boosh and Bryson.
  22. They are in Division 2 this year, so I doubt you get that game.
  23. Wanting JAGs to get off the ice has caused me some stress the last few years. I agree wholeheartedly that being able to roll 4 lines will be nice to watch. If a line is cold there are three others that can pick up the slack. Whoever ends up as the 13th forward will be interesting as well. For example, Vinny draws in and is raring to go, generates some action. Way better than hoping Hayden doesn’t get stuck in his own end every shift.
