  1. His hockey IQ may be senior to Risto. The extra penalties hurt, especially with the Sabres current PK.
  2. I would think he can. He played for Moscow Dynamo. I am more excited to see this guy than Neuchev. He has been playing a year and a half in the KHL and is not even 20 yet. He may only need a year in Rochester. He could end up being the big stay at home guy we are all wanting.
  3. I thought he looked in great shape in that picture. Plus, it was from a year ago. He was a one man team with his junior team, scoring 40 while no one else was close. It will be interesting to watch him and he should develop more in Rochester than in the KHL.
  4. Kids don’t have the attention span to watch an entire game. They should add that as a filter option.
  5. That’s a great thing I remember seeing in PK Subban as well. They named a hospital wing in Montreal in his honour after he gave them a few million dollars.
  6. I watched Bloom play last night, no big loss.
  7. Sometimes a big name will go once to experience it and to try and add it to their resume. Crosby went once and won. I get the Ryan Smyth vibe from Cozens, he won’t go as often because the Sabres will be in playoff runs.
  8. Heading to bed. Winnipeg is up 4-1 after 2 periods. Savoie with 1G 2A so far. 25 points in 13 playoff games.
  9. Bjorkstrand had 2 in game 7 vs Colorado plus he hit 3 posts.
  10. As the series goes on they start to hate each other and the intensity ratchets up, provided they are pretty evenly matched. That can draw me into it.
  11. Quebec(Komarov) beats Gatineau(Nadeau) to take a 3-0 lead in the Q semifinals. Quebec has won 11 straight games.
  12. This is great for Quinn’s confidence, he may break out there like Cozens did last year. Power became their 1D during his draft year. I hope Levi gets some games and steals the net. Julien gave him nothing in the Olympics.
  13. He gets hurt a lot, I’d rather have Varlamov.
  14. Good win, glad I don’t have to listen to Craig Simpson anymore tonight.
  15. He declined during locker clean out day.
  16. That’s great, get him here ASAP. Kisakov should help with his acclimation. This kid could become something, maybe better than VO, in a few years. I’m excited to see how he does, even at dev.&rookie camps. The more talent the Sabres have the better the lineup. If there becomes a surplus, move some out for improvements or futures.
  17. Saros, Shesterkin, Raanta. Lundqvist talked about this a bit the other night on TNT.
  18. Drury would still want multiple assets. 1st overall pick may need a change of scenery and someone to smarten him up.
  19. Thomas Milic, goalie for the Seattle Thunderbirds of the WHL, is having a great playoff. He had a .928 sv% in the regular season and has upped that number to .956 in ten playoff games. He plays for a powerhouse team but those are impressive numbers. He was also Canada’s goalie at the WJHC. He just turned 20 and is undrafted.
  20. Depends what is available in both avenues. UFAs are usually older and as much as I’d like a guy like Graves or Dumba, 7 year deals are not the direction I would go in if that is what it takes. There are a lot of teams tight to the cap right now so the competition for good talent may not be as heated as past years. The Sabres may be able to get a good player at a fair price. Getting a 24-25 year old Dman with term or an RFA you think can be extended may only be available via trade. A guy like Hronek that went from Detroit to Vancouver is an example of the kind of Dman I am thinking of. There is also the possibility of a cap dump. I’m thinking of a Nick Leddy type deal from a couple of years ago. Some team may have its sights on a shiny UFA but doesn’t have room. You can even gain a draft pick or two for taking on such a guy.
  21. Ultimately it is up to him to decide. If he is confident the SHL team will give him a fair amount of ice time that would be important. Generally ice time is earned so he may struggle vs established veterans. If it is Skelleftea that signs him, it is a long way from his hometown of Stockholm, almost a 9 hour drive. Rochester might be better, especially with a few Swedes on the team. He has played with Rosen, his feedback may sway the decision.
  22. Worked out so far, I just wanted to point out that a big splash at the deadline is a big risk.
  23. I think Sportsnet did a show on that escapade.
  24. I had the same two finalists, I am done.
