Not exactly a trade that moves the needle. I’ve seen Bloom play a lot. He is a long term prospect that will play in the AHL and may never crack the NHL. He is a good junior player but doesn’t drive his line. He is a complimentary player that is good in both directions. He plays PP1 on a good junior team but he is not the playmaker or trigger man. He is often the bumper guy and moves to the net front to clean up rebounds. He is a good PK guy who anticipates well and scores a lot of shorthanded goals. Anyway, he is gone. He was low on the pipeline totem pole and KA probably couldn’t see him in B&G. In my opinion, his ceiling is Dan Paille but will need a lot of work to get there. Stillman I don’t know much about other than he comes from a hockey family. Dad Corey played a long time in the NHL and is currently an assistant in AZ. His brother Chase is a Devils 1st rounder playing in the OHL and was coached by his father in Sudbury. If he is better than Bryson I am happy. I suspect there are other moves afoot here.

Combine this with the Houser signing and we’re good to go.

I guess the Leafs will get all kinds of picks and prospects at next year’s deadline when they have to sell Matthews or risk losing him for nothing.

I can’t see Rosen being off limits.

I guess they are done with Wayne Simmonds.Their fans were saying how he was the missing grit. Acciari and Lafferty do add grit. Should be an interesting matchup with Tampa.

Dubas all in, mortgaging the future for this year’s run. Please fall on your faces in the first round, again.

It was a good add but they only got 23 regular season and 10 playoff games out of him for Tippett and a 1st. Tampa is a tough opponent but they got swept and it looks like they may not recover. I may want Buffalo to get a rental at some point but not now. I find they fizzle out more than put teams over the top.

That’s nuts. I guess it helps the Zona tank. He will need a conditioning stint soon.

One thing I forgot to mention yesterday was that I thought DG would put Quinn out on PP2 in the third to try and get his Howe hattie. Instead he rolled out KO. Quinn is trending up and this would have been another boost.

Yeah, I watched him closely. He would fill a hole and could extend if conditions are right.

The desire to make a move increases as other teams make them. I keep reminding myself only one team wins the Cup while a dozen of them make moves and add that ‘missing’ piece. The deal that pops into my mind is Giroux last year. They added a veteran star to a Presidents Cup team and fizzled. There are many examples of these types of deals every year. I trust KA with the approach he has taken so far. He has said it and he will not mortgage the future for a high priced rental. I think goal is where the biggest need is but there is not much available and the cost is probably steep. I can’t see Nashville moving Saros. Demko could be a possibility. Defense needs some veteran help and I prefer a guy like Jensen. He is a rental but won’t cost a lot. The Sabres have plenty of forwards but I could see adding Greenway for depth and a component they don’t have. I still want him to use that cap space and acquire assets that can be used to improve draft position, move to fill holes or even stock the cupboard with more prospects. He can help multiple teams get their magic beans and get something in every deal.

I’m curious about Greenway from the Wild. He has scored a bit over the last few years. Huge winger(6’6” 230), I don’t know about his skating. He could be a reclamation project for DG, coached him at USNDTP. Jost would know him. His salary is a bit much for Minny with their coming crunch from Parise/Suter. $3M AAV for two more years. If the ask is in the Jeannot neighborhood it is a big NO. A 2nd or 3rd, sure. He is not putting up any points this year but has scored in last few. 27 pts in 62 games in 21/22 32 pts in 56 games in 20/21

Brisebois is trying to recapture the Blake Coleman, Barclay Goodrow 3rd line grit they had in their first Cup run. That is a lot for Jeannot.

I’m watching that game on Sportsnet. Friedman says it is an injury that is holding this up. He says someone is banged up enough that they are still negotiating. There is someone else going with Meier as well.
