100% behind Graves. I hope both sides have interest and make it work. There needs to be a plan B,C,D,E and F if he doesn’t want to be here. Besides, I think they should get 2 Dmen in the 4/5 range. Andersen brings some of the experience and mentorship aspect that Anderson had. Two strikes against him are that he hasn’t had any playoff success and seems to get hurt a lot. Not Matt Murray injury level but almost Bogo like. I would prefer Varlamov as a UFA. Hill was thought of as a good prospect a few years ago. He hasn’t had much opportunity until these playoffs and he has done well. Winning a Cup would raise his profile and salary. Hindsight is 20/20 but KA should’ve got him instead of Comrie. I think the goalie situation is going to have the biggest impact this off season. Running it back with Levi/Comrie/UPL carries the most risk as all three are unproven. This is the simplest way to go and KA doesn’t have to spend extra money or assets on the position. I doubt he wants a three headed goalie again so one of them will be exposed to trade or waivers unless Levi is sent down. Waivers is the simplest way to unload Comrie/UPL but it is an asset lost for nothing. UPL could turn into something useful while Comrie could be a decent backup. I prefer signing or trading for a proven veteran 1A or 1B. This would fill a hole that cost the team a playoff berth. Training camp would be a battle to be goalie X’s partner. The downside of this is possibly losing Comrie and UPL for nothing. One or both may have trade value or be a part of a Hellebuyck type trade. Again, Levi may not have a great camp and be sent down, preventing the loss of one goalie. This is where KA may have to be a tough business executive and admit his goalies haven’t been good enough. Bring in Hellebuyck, Andersen, Varlamov, Hill to mentor and challenge Levi. Get rid of Comrie and send down UPL. If he gets claimed sign another undrafted prospect like Milic or Suchanek. I know both of them might get drafted but there are probably a few more at this age and talent level. Forward is not as big of an issue for me. Running back the same group minus Hinestroza would probably lead to a playoff berth if the goaltending improves. I want to move on from KO and Girgs but I can live with their return. Savoie gets a look and could stick around until World Juniors. Rousek or Kulich battle for one spot while a playoff savvy vet is brought in. Compher, Hathaway, Killorn and Haula fit this need. A guy like Killorn has been a go to PKer for a long time while Haula is a good faceoff guy. My two cents.

The New, Improved Home Improvement Thread

I just spent a few days on the set of Shoresy S2. It was a neat experience. -
It’s a short conversation.

I am guessing as well but the cost of equipment is a big factor in turning parents off of hockey and goalie gear is the most expensive. As a kid, goalies only play 1/2 the games. There is more pressure. It is strange other countries are producing better goalies. We might need Levi to inspire the next generation.
-
Here is the list of NHL goalies from Canada. Levi doesn’t have much competition. It is a weakness for this country. MA Fleury, Carter Hart, Darcy Kuemper, Logan Thompson, Cam Talbot, Stuart Skinner, Aidin Hill, Jake Allen, Tristan Jarry, Jordan Binnington, James Reimer, Brian Elliot, Martin Jones, Eric Comrie, Sam Montembeault, Laurent Brossoit, Scott Wedgewood, MacKenzie Blackwood, Matt Murray and Connor Ingram.

Not really optimistic, just realistic about Canadian goaltending. If there had been a World Cup last fall the goalies that were discussed were Hart, Kuemper and Binnington. Not exactly Roy, Brodeur and Luongo.
-
Yeah, I hope so. I meant Olympics, World Cups etc..

Helps grow that chip on his shoulder about being too small. Two big chips on his shoulders would make up for a few inches of height. I think he will be in the running for Canada’s go to goalie in a few years.
-
We got him, we got Matt Irwin!
-
A lot of truth to this. Reinhart is on the third line in Florida. He gets a lot of points on PP1 but also gets good matchups at 5v5. Montour took Weegar’s ice time + was elevated above Ekblad on the PP.
-
Krebs got player of the game for Canada.
-
Myers and Power have the combined wingspan of a 747.
-
Similar to what I was used to. We didn’t leave people without power in the middle of a storm. You work 16 hour days for a week or two until all power is restored. The 16 hour restriction wasn’t even in place when I was younger. If I was on call we could work 24 hours straight. The OT more than makes up for some extended time off.
-
Canada takes the lead in the third on a Tyler Myers goal. Nice feed from Quinn.
-
Canada’s best player today imo.
-
Krebs draws a penalty then scores on the PP, 1-0 Canada.
-
Krebs on PP2. Quinn had a couple of great chances.

Montembeault was identified as #1 early on. He lost vs the Swiss but they have a decent team. Montembeault has NHL seniority but in a short tournament the leash should be arms length. Levi should have started at least two games. He should be #2 after the Hofer shootout fiasco. He should take the net if Montembeault falters, it may be too late by then in the knockout round. Sabres fans value him more and we are probably way more in tune with his game than Team Canada’s staff but they should know his upside is higher than the other two. Hofer should have been #3 as he was brought in late and he hasn’t proven anything at the NHL level yet.
-
Quinn hasn’t taken off at this championship like Cozens did. He is relied upon to deliver, PP1 and last minute ice time. He just looks ready to break out, I hope it happens soon.
-
I hope so. If Sam helps Florida win the Cup that is a definite win from their perspective. If Levi and Kulich are a part of a Sabres revival, that may win a Cup, I consider that a win too.
-
First time he looks like $10M Bob since he signed that deal. He’s definitely dialed in, just like his Vezina years. One more round like this and he adds a Conn Smythe to his trophy case.

Some companies here do pay out unused sick days. It would’ve been a nice option. Like I said, I always felt that sick days were a benefit to be used when you needed to, not something you earned.
