  1. I think he had mono at the start of the season so that would lead to a sluggish start.
  2. At the moment, yes. Krebs still has upside while 29 year old Laughton will start going downhill. Laughton’s career average is .38 pts per game while Krebs is at .36. He would help fill a hole though. Good two way C, decent on faceoffs, some grit and experience. He led the Flyers in PK ice time so he must be good at it. The C spine with TNT, Cozens, Laughton and Krebs would be solid.
  3. I think the board of governors can veto a sale and that may be their approach to the Coyotes.
  4. Nick Taylor won the Canadian Open golf tournament, first Canadian to win since 1954.
  5. Krebs looked as good as him at the Worlds. Laughton may be 4C in Buffalo.
  6. What they’ve done is within the rules, no need to put an asterisk on their record. However, there is a stench from that approach, especially when the guys return for the very first playoff game. I like the way KA is getting guys locked up to fair deals with the long term cap implications in mind. If the cap goes up significantly, he can add some good talent to his core. That loophole may still be there when the Sabres are contending but they may not need it.
  7. 7 of these 11 are Dmen, safe to say the pipeline will get a few this year.
  8. Tkachuk got destroyed by Kolesar last game, I think his shoulder is messed up. He wasn’t able to shoot in the warmup.
  9. He is one of the top of the guys I like there.
  10. Dvorsky must be strong, he is 200lbs and he was top ten in BMI.
  11. Combine results. https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/2023-nhl-combine-results-top-10-prospects-in-every-drill/
  12. If he is demanding a trade and putting conditions in the deal then the price comes down a bit.
  13. Simon Gagne is supposed to be the HC there next year. Roy could return if he fails to land an NHL job, but why not go out after a big win. He could just step back and be owner/GM.
  14. Agree. I would hate to lose him for nothing. It would be nice if he did go to Rochester for one more year. Otherwise there may not be a goalie prospect down there. Maybe they draft a 20 year old like Milic or Suchanek who could go to Rochester right away.
  15. Some mock drafts have him in the first round, I don’t know if he makes it to 39.
  16. UPL and Comrie would have to clear waivers to be sent down.
  17. If Levi becomes 1A or even a 1B goalie for the Sabres plus Kulich becoming a solid top 9 contributor that is a good deal. I know I have my rose coloured prospect glasses on but I think they win that trade. I like Sam and he still has many years ahead of him but our two prospects look good.
  18. He’s got to look at it cold heartedly and be comfortable possibly losing UPL and Comrie via trade, waivers or buy out.
  19. I’m amazed that Staal is still going. He’s not doing much but the occasional contribution and depth helped their run. I think a guy like Erik Haula still has a bit of game left, he would help.
  20. Sounds good to me. If Severson went for a third then Graves could be had for a fourth. They could wait until July 1st and not have to give up anything but there is a risk of a sign and trade elsewhere. If he is the guy KA wants then a 4th rounder is a small price.
  21. Perreault is definitely in play around 13. He is most often in the 11-18 range. His skating needs work but there is skill there in order to break Auston Matthews’ USNDTP record. The NHL parent plus knowing KA doesn’t hurt. American kid with Canadian bloodlines and HOF Sabres name would make people happy. I still want Simashev more.
  22. A lot of them over 200 lbs already, not very common in guys that young.
  23. Tough championship to win. 60 teams and a player is in the league for 4-5 years maximum.
  24. Levi being Saros’ apprentice would be great for him. Two years should be enough time for Levi to improve and get ready to take the net.
  25. I forget the source but someone said it was tougher in the playoffs being on your offhand side because of the increased intensity of the forecheck. Teams dump in to force a Dman to retrieve on his backhand and attack faster and harder. That being said, I don’t care too much, as talented guys will still find a way to move the puck up the ice. Dahlin and Mule sometimes switched sides multiple times during a shift, it wasn’t one of them stuck on his offside for 20+ minutes. I think it can lead to different opportunities in the offensive zone, different shooting angles and being closer to the middle of the ice.
