  1. @Pimlach You seem confused. Use your words.
  2. I find this “grievance” and “pressure” stuff a bit much. The only person feeling pressure right now is Jack. It’s his God given right to have any surgery he pleases. As an employee of the Sabres, my guess is he can even get them to pay for the whole thing as well. However, he can’t have his cake and eat it too. He must assume the full financial consequences of a poor outcome. If he’s so positive this is the right surgery for him, then he should have nothing to fear. As for the Olympics, do the Sabres have the right, as defined in the CBA, to deny him from participating?
  3. Agreed. I don’t see this as a viable option. Everyone has a sob story and their agent will try to use it in the future. I also don’t see Jack as some vital piece to the NHL story that would necessitate them changing the whole CBA.
  4. Because he’ll get assets back to improve his team. Besides, money is money. It’s black and white, and $2.5M is more than $1-2M regardless where he’s playing.
  5. If Terry is content with losing $12.5M for Jack to sit and rot for nothing, it seems reasonable (and even face saving) for Terry to retain $1-2M per year to facilitate a trade. He’d lose less than he would collecting insurance, would jettison this headache off the team, and would gain assets. However, I don’t think retention is the main thing holding up this trade.
  6. That’s the rub. All off-season we were constantly brainwashed into believing that the Sabres were going to “historically” bad or how much worse can the worse team in the league possibly get. I don’t care if these teams are bad or not playoff teams. The are NHL teams and we are proving we are above them.
  7. Plus, the pressure to win starts mounting once the season starts, not during the summer. This pressure starts accumulating more once injuries start to mount and the season is now in doubt. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
  8. The Yotes goalie sure didn’t look disinterested to me. He played lights out and very well could’ve stole this game for them. Let’s give credit where credit’s due.
  9. I don’t remember any overly negative comments directed towards Ulmark. Modo just claimed that he had inside knowledge of the Sabres negotiations and how they purposely screwed him over, but he refused to give any details. Oh well…
  10. I just love to see these guys rewarded for working their ***** off.
  11. Would love for KA to trade for him. We can send them Dell.
  12. Totally. I remember GMTM being a master of getting rid of the hot hands.
  13. It’s a letter authored by his agent. As someone who is employed to represent Jack, it is a de facto letter from Jack. You think this came out against Jack’s wishes or he disapproved its contents? Do you think a letter released via Twitter is anything but a letter to the fans?
  14. No, it was the Friday tweet to the public. It’s in here: https://www.nhl.com/news/sabres-eichel-agents-expected-trade-by-now/c-325885236
  15. And I forgot. Jack did write a letter to the fans 1-2 months back. It may have been authored by Fish, but Jack was paying him to represent his thoughts and wishes.
  16. Would Jack write a letter like this?
  17. If this was actually a leak by Brisson to keep his client in the public eye, he’s failed. It’s not his decision to make, but for a supposed “NHL insider”, it’s his job to seal the deal. Looks bad on him this wasn’t completed.
  18. The lack of an official grievance filed is extremely telling. In fact, it’s more revealing than what has been publicly said up to this point. If filed, it’s highly likely Jack will lose. Why? Because the NHL/NHLPA panel of experts (despite Brisson saying other teams are ok with the ADR) will probably uniformly side with the Sabres. But, so what if he loses? It would probably close the door on Jack going ahead with the surgery and trying to sue the Sabres once/if his contract is voided after the fact. He’s keeping the going rogue option open.
  19. Agree. I would substitute him out for R2 and send Cozens down.
  20. Makes sense. Would love to be a fly on the wall in meetings with the Sabres and the insurance company. We assume they are the ones blocking the surgery and assume they will soon have to pay for Jack being unable to perform his job.
  21. Looks like a total badass.
  22. In reality, they are waking up to check their phones to see if Jack was traded.
  23. I hate to say it, but there’s going to be some point in the future when Terry grows tired of paying a player $10M to sit. Of course, this would be harmful to all involved parties.
  24. With the Zibanejad signing, it got me looking into how the Rangers ended up with him. It’s interesting. More of a business decision, rather than a hockey one, by the Sens. Strikingly similar to another business decision trade we were part of in the recent past. https://thehockeywriters.com/ottawa-senators-revisiting-mika-zibanejad-trade/ I just hope the Eichel trade doesn’t turn out being a pure business decision.
