There’s always value left on the board. There’s always talent there.

NHL Fire Sale: Roster Freeze Ends, 1pm eastern, 7/22

Exactly why did we not go for Nedeljkovic? Not allowed to have nice things? -
As a physician, I don’t really follow this line of thinking. The heart inflammation of Covid can involved the myocardium, but can also involve the coronary arteries. The heart muscle inflammation will resolve, with or without accompanied fibrosis, but the coronary involvement can result in aneurysms and/or stensoses. These don’t tend to resolve and we do not know the long term sequelae of Covid heart inflammation. Of course, I do not know any of his medical details, so don’t know if he has CA involvement. As for c-spine herniated discs, this is less of a question mark. They either self-resolve or they don’t and this can be easily tested by serial MRIs. Jack’s injury is much less of a mystery, but by no means of less importance. To me, both of these players have significant medical worts.

I don’t care about taking the absolutely best deal for Jack. If the deals are roughly equal, Jack goes to the other team. If the Rags deal is slightly better, Jack goes to the other team. If the Rags deal is heads-and-shoulders better, then and only then should he be dealt to them.
-
I would do this. 1OA and 3OA is basically a wash in this draft. Both teams will be very happy. If this what gets ANA to ship us their 2 top prospects (which I doubt they would be willing to do), I would pull the trigger.
-
Borgen gets jettisoned and this. Brace yourselves when both Jack and Sam get the boot.
-
I think they should absolutely put Lafreniere on the table. They got incredibly lucky and the hockey gods dropped him in their lap. Now just imagine, if at the expense of Lafreniere, they had Jack drop into their lap for basically doing nothing. That’s how the Rag should be viewing trading Lareniere for Jack.

Seems to me the word “astronomical” is being overused and has lost its effect.
-
There’s zero reasons either Jack or Sam would’ve been dealt up until now. We want futures and they would represent extra players the acquiring team would be forced to protect. So, in effect, they would probably lose another good player if they were forced to protect Jack or Sam.

SoFi Stadium in LA has cost over $5B to construct. Alligiant Stadium in Las Vegas cost $1.9B. MetLife Stadium in NY cost about $1.7B (about $2B in today’s money even though it was built in 2017). Terry Pegula’s net worth (including assets like his teams) is $5.4B. Are you suggesting he’s going to spend about 50% of his net worth on building a stadium in Buffalo, NY?

Good. We should be able to convince them to send us a 6th rounder not to take Borgen.

Exposing Borgen over Risto gives me hope in our FO. With Borgen having to pass through waivers, that some 2nd level thinking.

Expansion Draft -- Wed. July 21, 2021 (Release the Kraken)
kas23 replied to Hoss's topic in The Aud Club
That’s really ballsy. He’s expensive, but he’s elite. I know they will be paying him $10M for next 5 years, but it’s not like they’ll be paying a goalie nothing during this time. So, this should be viewed as how much extra money would this be costing the Kraken. -
The reason he’s unhappy is because the Avs haven’t ponied up his money quick enough. He wants to stay in Colorado, but just wants them to hurry up and pay him his due. Sounds familiar to a squabble they had with a former player who we all used to know.
-
I don’t know which side did it, but I believe bridges haven’t just been burnt, but rather have been nuked. Why do I think this? Both parties are acting very strangely. Jack is not fussing like a player trying to get traded. No temper tantrums on Twitter, no trade demands. And when he does speak, he acts like he’s been traded already. Like it’s a done deal and he’s care-free Our GM…when GMs are trying to get maximal value for a player, they pump them up in the media. They say stuff like “Jack is an extremely important part of our team. We expect him to be professional and be an indispensable part of our run at the Stanley Cup in 2022.” But, no, we get “We only want players who want to be here.” But, we’re hearing none of the usual verbiage. We are getting the exact opposite.
-
If he has no intention of signing with us, I would leave Ulmark unprotected. He would be a good decoy to avoid losing someone else, like Borgen, Asplund, or Bjork
-
Seems like an appropriate person to trade for Jack then. They both have health issues.
-
There’s nothing to stop acquiring team from flipping him after next season before it kicks in. Or, for them to ask Jack to rescind it (which he may go for to play for a contender). His future NMC should hold little influence in trading him now.
-
Must be a decent one if they just bothered to clear $10M. And even better that this is being leaked for other teams to take notice.

“Alex, I’ll take things reporters do to get future scoops for $1000 please”
