Anyway we slice this, I think Sam has more value on the trade market compared to getting compensation back. At $6M, it’s a 1st and a 3rd, which isn’t much and very well could both be at the very end of the rounds. For example, I would want a top prospect well into his development than a 1st and 3rd. Plus, Sam would easily be matched at that price and all problems solved. Even if they go higher, a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd isn’t worth.
-
Hypothetical question. If a team offer sheets Sam and he signs it, but then we match it, is he obligated to sign with us for that money and term? If he is, and he doesn’t wish to stay (under any circumstance), he probably won’t sign any offer sheets.

Eichel's Agent Says Team/Player Heading Toward "Resolution"

Not enough. But, I’d throw in Risto if that gets us 3OA too. -
Unless your name is Skinner…

Eichel's Agent Says Team/Player Heading Toward "Resolution"
kas23 replied to Hoss's topic in The Aud Club
I’d be happy with 3OA and one of those 2. It’s not going to be Zegras and Drysdale. In fact, at this point, I think I’d be shocked if we got either Zegras or Drysdale. -
“I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have” - Thomas Jefferson

I can see the shooting percentage of maybe 1-2 players being elevated, because sometimes players get hot purely based on luck. But, from what I read, Granato had the whole team having a sh% a full 1% higher than RK. To me, that’s not just puck luck.

I read somewhere a 3 month rehab if he opts for surgery.
-
The resolution could also very well be: Jack agrees to be a good soldier and play the first 10-15 games to prove his health and we promise to complete his trade then.

An interview is extremely important. You would think candidates would be on their best behavior (ie faking it), but that’s usually not how it works. I have interviewed many people, usually young, and sometimes you’re shocked in what you hear.

Yes, that we know of. But, yes, I’m sure he’s ambivalent about being listened to, with the exception of firing an entire hockey department.

"We felt like we needed to be heard," said Terry during the Botterill firing press conference….

Yeah? What were Adams’s qualifications to become a GM? Any prior AGM experience? Anything special in his past for him to be hired without a search?
-
We also need to realize that Adams was not hired for his ability to be a GM. He was hired because he was a trusted lieutenant. So, will he be judged going forward based on his success/failure as a GM or his ability to say yes?

McDermott is a competent HC, but I think you’re giving him a little too much credit for the Bills success. His roster is stacked, thanks to Beane. And if Allen was a bust, McD likely would be looking for a new job. Sure, he played a role in developing Allen, but the majority of the heavy lifting was done by Daboll, Palmer, and Josh’s own natural ability. Behind every great coach is a great QB. What a coincidence.

I’m fine with seeing what Granato can do with Eichel. I would strip him of his Captaincy though. He lost that at his end of year presser. I still would tell him, if he still wants to go, then a trade will be done before his NMC kicks in.

The dumb part about this, and it may just be NY journalists trying to earn a living, is the rumors just keep recycling the same old garbage. NYR want Jack, but under no circumstances will they give up anyone of value. If these rumors were true and I was Kevyn, I would block their number.

My guess is Kim is fashioning a list of acceptable choices as we speak.

Unsure. If we put him at 1C (the likely scenario) and we have a decent amount of success, he may have a change of heart.

Dreger: Expects Sabres Head Coach will be hired next week
kas23 replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
It’s extremely unlikely that an Eichel trade is holding up a coaching hire. That’s the type of trade that’s going to take 1-2 months to consummate. Teams still have to review his medical records and probably speak with him. -
It’s a youth movement, but I think getting all futures is sending a message to GMs. If you think adding Jack to your current roster can get you over some playoff hump, we’d like to talk to you. We aren’t looking to dismantle your current team. It’s certainly a youth movement, but also assurance to a potential trade partner.

Dreger: Expects Sabres Head Coach will be hired next week
kas23 replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
From what I read about him (maybe BN?) is that he’s a fairly laidback guy and has never been one who is always thinking about their next position. He puts his head down and works and let the pieces fall where they may. I’m sure hiring a HC is a very political situation and he just never got caught up in all that. -
This is a disgusting situation. Almost criminal on those who buried it. That said, I know a player they could trade for that would immediately distract people’s minds away from this situation.

Devil’s advocate would say we’ve tried the “surround the youngsters with vets” approach and it didn’t work. Obviously, it depends on which vets and which youngsters. But, merely signing vets isn’t going to move the needle.
