Well, as of 72 hours ago, Appert was placed into the Covid protocol. No doubt he had very close contact with the the assistant coaches. I haven’t heard anything about them, but maybe there’s no one to coach them?

Totally agree. Like Tage, this is a prove it year for Mitts. He’s shown glimpses, but he hasn’t proved much at the NHL level and the first couple years were pretty bad. Thus, should not be looked at as a “savior” to reach team mediocrity. I’m just looking for contribution and continued improvement.

This is fixable. Take him off the PP until he learns not to be a liability. Let him sit and watch from the bench for the next month. I would rather fail to score goals on the PP than give up SH goals. I’m fact, I don’t think Granato has a choice here. Other teams likely have taken notice and are going to attack him just the same. He’s a weak link.

The biting aside, when you create a situation where the refs are at risk for serious injury, you should sit for 5-10 games. People can fight, but when the refs intervene, it should be over.

I really don’t think the hesitancy to draft a C in the last 3 drafts is really going to hurt us. I presume we’ll be drafting one with our 1st pick in 2022 (if not, I’ll change my opinion). We have Mitts, Cozens, and now Thompson and Krebs. We are flushed with 2C and 3Cs. I don’t think drafting a random Center in the past 3 drafts would’ve moved to be needle, as I don’t really see any C’s picked better than we already had. Who knows though, maybe we’ll stumble into one in 2022.

I don’t think Granato is going to have traditional 1st line, 2nd line, etc. The lines will be fairly equal, but with some differentiation. He will deploy which line based on the match up. And skew usage based on in-game effectiveness.
