Connor Cook is looking rough tonight. He nailed a huge 3rd and 15 but then on an even bigger 3rd and 5 he stared at one receiver who was covered like a blanket and threw him out of bounds. One game isn't going to make me change my mind on him being worth a first rounder, but he's playing to his detractors tonight. This game has been brutal for him. I've seen maybe two open receivers the entire night but he's got to make something happen. Iowa's defense is unbelievable, though. Kirk Ferentz will make a good NFL coach.

Luc Robitaille told @JayAndDan that Auston Matthews is "right up there" with Connor McDavid, fwiw.

That's something I don't think we can realistically determine outside of ones in the final seconds. I believe there have only been two coach's challenges in the finals seconds. One last night that Boston lost which upheld a goal that led to a Calgary OT win and one where a team scored late but was still down by multiple goals.

Sabrespace family squabbles and scandals
Hoss replied to Ghost of Dwight Drane's topic in The Aud Club
Terry Pegula announced on January 21, 2011 that they would build an ice hockey arena at Penn State named after him. His name is on an on-campus building that broke ground on April 20, 2012 (420 he's a stoner!) and opened on October 11, 2013. Pegula announced he was buying the Sabres on February 18, 2011. So in a month and seven days he decided he needed to buy a professional hockey team so he could "get away" from the University that had just undertaken an $88 MILLION project that was to be named after him.- 223 replies

I saw this New York Times article mentioned as an example of why the argument that taking away guns won't stop suicides because "if somebody wants to commit suicide they're going to do it." http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/06/magazine/06suicide-t.html?_r=0 In the article there's this interesting tidbit about how taking away a type of oven seems to have impacted the suicide rate in England: My entire life I've always thought I would want a gun in my home to protect my family and children. As somebody who has seen what mental illness can do and who has dealt/is dealing with depression there's no chance I would consider it.

They've been clearing for years. I assume that's because they've known how bad they are, but it will also be interesting to see if they're in LA next season. I imagine that will impact their spending. They also need to get to the cap floor.

I think Cal was a mix of both but it's likely his signing was earned through his own success at the AHL level.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/12/05/nfl-salary-cap-will-rise-above-150-million-in-2016/ NFL Salary Cap set to rise by over $10M to between $150M to $153.4M. The most ridiculous part of that is to see the list of teams with the most space... The Raiders are much improved this season with a stable of young stars (Carr, Cooper and Mack). They've got almost half the entire cap available. I'm sure they'll leave some wiggle room for when Carr needs a new deal, but they've got so much space to add. I wouldn't be surprised if they extend Michael Crabtree after the year he's having. There's some guys who aren't expected to be back with their current teams. Eric Weddle could get a ton of money from Chicago (or Oakland). Eric Berry (Chiefs safety) is another who could possibly shake loose. Jason Pierre-Paul is set to hit free agency after his fireworks debacle. Some guys are about to get richer.

I'm confused by that. This quote seems to support the victims, not Bill... But the article suggests otherwise. I guess I'd need to see video.

This is a shocker Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal Sources: Greinke in agreement with #DBacks, pending physical.
-
That's a comparison I didn't intentionally make but am going to take credit for.
-
The total was just an impressive stat. But regardless of how many were shot in their careers... Doing something in two years that it took an NBA Hall of Famer 13 years to do is astonishing. Especially because a huge part of the reason Bird was considered so great was his ability to hit the three ball.
-
Current gun restrictions are like Adrian Peterson running full speed through an arm tackle.
-
You're absolutely correct. They'll win a few more but the bed against Dallas and/or Washington...
-
He's played 436 NBA games over six seasons. He's got a pretty big body of work already, and he's only getting better. Which would make Curry's ability even more impressive, not less, if true.
-
And they'd both be wrong. On Bird: Tom Haberstroh ✔@tomhaberstroh Just dropped on @SportsCenter: Steph Curry is on pace to make more 3s in his last 2 seasons than Larry Bird did in his entire 13-yr career. Even Celtics legend and GM Danny Ainge doesn't disagree... Danny Ainge ✔@danielrainge .@StephenCurry30 has to be the best shooter of all time. The percentages along with the variety and the degree of difficulty separate him.
-
I'm comfortable with putting almost all the blame on Rex and the defensive staff. Players don't go from being one of the best groups in all of football to one of the worst collectively like this. Especially when they're still young aside from Kyle.
-
I actually do but hadn't thought of that. I'm just hoping to see something worth watching and I know it won't be the Bills, because they're better off losing.
-
Sunday will be the first game I attend this season. Here's hoping JJ Watt gets 30 sacks.
-
Completely ignoring that this Around the NHL: I agree on Steph Curry. Once you thought every permutation of an NBA player had been seen before along comes Steph Curry. He's easily the greatest shooter of all time and might be the best player with the ball in his hands in NBA history. He can create space if he wants to, can hit it right in your face if he wants to or he can make a ridiculous pass. His shooting form never suffers regardless of whether he's set or running off a screen or falling back... It's unbelievable.

Mario might beg the team to cut him... Mario Williams on if Rex Ryan heard the defense's complaints weeks ago: "It's still been pretty much the same thing." Also, Miller, Bradham and Karlos are all out. Henderson doubtful.
