  1. Yup. And Khalil Mack is twice the player he was. Mack fits every team’s plan. You’re overcomplicating this. And because I added one line about where he played college ball it’s all because of the “hometown” thing? (He’s from Florida). This is a rare time a superstar seems to want to be in Buffalo badly. Or, at least, wanted to.
  2. The second position worth paying after QB is edge rusher right now. And Mack is among the best. He’s a top five defensive player in the league and somewhere in the top 15 for all positions. He fits because he can fill roles they’ve already had on the team and because he’s too good not to. He can play legitimately any spot in the front seven. An unreal talent in the team’s backyard that they missed out on.
  3. Not sure on this but if you ever find yourself in LA/Hollywood and want to experience this in eerie ways head to the museum of death.
  4. ESPN suggested Khalil Mack could become a trade candidate which is the perfect storm for the Bills. They obviously blew the Sammy pick and should’ve taken Mack from the start (I have receipts of me calling it out the moment it happened). He’s holding out and has yet to speak with or meet with Jon Gruden since he was hired. Gruden actually insulted him by saying the defense wasn’t good with Mack last year indicating he’s not concerned about him not being there. Mack has spent the entire offseason working out in Buffalo and has said several times he felt like Watkins “stole his city” by getting picked there at 4. ESPN said a first round pick could entice Oakland. I imagine it’d take more than that but it’s an easy deal to make if you’re the Bills. Especially considering they are in great cap position after this season.
  5. I expect something like: 21-15-36 from Berglund 9-17-26 from Sobotka
  6. His numbers last year deserve way more credit than “weren’t pathetic.” They were nearly number one numbers. He fell just short of 1,000 yards and was their best target all year. He only got better when Jimmy G came in which is a very good sign for them.
  7. I think there’s a chance our expectations for Berglund are a bit low. He has almost the exact same GPG over the last two seasons as ROR (Berglund is .0002% higher if we want to get technical).
  8. This is incredibly unfounded and dangerous. Nothing definitive has been said. The Hall rumors started from a bunch of twitter chatter by people connecting her and another former media member who Brandon is actually known to have had a relationship with.
  9. 2. Hutton led the league in save percentage and goals against last season, in the entire league. It’s not ideal that he doesn’t have years and years of starting experience but he’s been damn good when he’s played. And he’s definitely experienced. 3. None of those guys have ever been to the top 10. Beauchemin also retired. So what you want is basically a very slight upgrade to Josh Gorges: someone who was decent at some point and has been in the league so long they are no longer decent. Your initial comment about D applied to like... Chara, Keith and Seabrook.
  10. The only “character” concern he has is that his brother was charged in an assault case. Otherwise he seems to have a solid record.
  11. 1. Yea, that’d be problematic. 2. There’s like three dudes (maybe) who have more NHL starts than Hutton and are willing/not wanted enough to start in the AHL. And if Hutton/Ullmark fail enough for this team to turn to a third goalie it’s already too late anyways. So this is a useless thing to ask for. They’re set at goalie. It might not work but they’ve got all the bodies they need. 3. Another case where your expectations are unrealistic. This is another case where there’s less than a handful of guys in the league that fit this criteria (and they’re all on ridiculous contracts). I think what you’re looking for is a coach.
  12. Bills just acquired WR Corey Coleman from the Browns for a draft pick, per Schefter
  13. I saw a lot of Leafs fans saying at the time of the trade that “everybody knows” he’s signing with them. There’s been plenty of talk about them not being able to afford their own guys, let alone adding another $6-7M guy.
  14. Indeed. This line that Skinner is just a plug to fill the hole until our prospects are ready is wild. You do that with guys like Pouliot, not a two-time 30 goal scorer in his prime. If he were to be signed right this moment I think Skinner is worth in the range of six years, $6.5M per. If we could get him at that it’d make me happy. I think more realistically he’ll seek in the range of Kane’s contract, though.
  15. I think we’re all getting a little ahead of ourselves reading this much into comments. Botterill mentioned the extension is something for down the line. A player in his prime just got jettisoned from the only team he’s known since he took the league by hurricane years ago. He claimed he hadn’t thought about it but there’s no doubt he has. Maybe conversations have occurred but maybe they haven’t. Even if they haven’t I don’t think Botterill made this move without plans to keep him nor do I think Skinner would waive for a place he doesn’t have some serious interest in staying long-term. I’m feeling confident he’s here for a while but just deflecting because nobody has offered or signed anything.
  16. Maybe it is, tough to tell. He has tucked his tail and ran when he didn’t get what he wanted before.
  17. This dude needs to learn to shut up and play. He’s a good bottom sixer and nothing more. And he’s hardly that these days.
  18. Meh, I think it’s a fine deal for both sides. There’s no evidence that what he did last season is repeatable. Sure, he would’ve loved an 8x8 deal but that was never going to happen. Do it again and get your big deal next year.
  19. Karlsson and the Knights settle at 1 year for $5.25M
  20. I don’t think it’s what you’re getting at but I have seen a few people mention that we added a player from a bad team in this thread. Carolina has been competing for a playoff spot for a while, and the attitude that bad teams = all bad players is questionable. When dealing with teams that haven’t had great success you’ve got to pinpoint the players who are a reason they were competitive and not terrible. I think Skinner is definitely one of those.
  21. by george that's beautiful
  22. I’m curious if JB has ever talked to Carolina about Justin Faulk or has any interest. If so, how much more would it have taken to turn this deal into Faulk and Skinner? I think Faulk has more value than this but they also didn’t get good value for Skinner, so maybe something like McCabe, Pu, a 1st, 2nd and 6th could’ve made it happen?
  23. They don’t NEED a veteran dman or a goalie. It’d have to be a significant upgrade in either regard to make any sense.
