  1. This is correct, I guess I’m assuming Thompson is going to be asked to do quite a bit. He’s said time and time again he’s going to thrive physically and mentally in an expanded role. I think he’d takenuo a lot of Reinhart’s duties and Reinhart will he asked to step up, as well. Which is a wrinkle in his contract talks but that’s another thread.
  2. Who takes the important OZone draws? The DEC. I mean, this is hard to answer. Ideally it’s sometbing Eichel learns quickly. I feel like I’ve heard Okposo is good on the dot but I don’t know if he should even be on the ice in important situations. Who takes the important DZone draws? Berglund or Sobotka, I imagine. Who fills in on the PK? Same as above. Who plays the right half-wall on the PP? I think Reinhart could fill this role immediately. Who matches up against the top offensive players at even strength? Again, I’m thinking the hope is Berglund is able to keep up early on then later it depends on who steps up. Who centres the second line at ES? I think this is between Reinhart, Mittelstadt and Berglund right now.
  3. New Ducks alts give me an erection
  4. I believe Botterill himself or a reporter said the negotiations weren’t going to be starting until “late July.”
  5. I know you're being pouty (it's okay, I still love you) but it's not. The top six by games played last year was: Scandella - Risto Beaulieau - McCabe Antipin - Falk That's just ordered by minutes, not actual pairings. It's now more like: Scandella - Risto Dahlin - Bogosian Guhle - McCabe Four of six are new guys. You hope they'll all play 75+ games. Not only would that be a pretty good talent upgrade it'd also be a significant upgrade to have a group of 6/7 guys who actually play a lot of games instead of guys moving in and out of the lineup/getting injured.
  6. I’ve heard many people who’ve been around much longer than myself talk about JK’s alleged abuse of Jill while he was a player. I don’t have links. A quick google search pops up some other internet speculation, so I’m certainly not the only one who has heard this.
  7. McGinn is slightly better than JAG. Larsson is just plain bad, not JAG. Will Carrier is JAG for sure.
  8. They didn’t “pick him in August.” It says they started to buy into him then. I’m sure they were buying into other prospects around the same time. I find it encouraging to know they’ve had their eye on him for a while instead of buying into the hype of a few months leading up to the draft. The evaluation he gave at the senior bowl was also very encouraging because he was highlighting mechanics over performance in what’s become an overhyped event. I’m here for the most part. Last night’s speech was fantastic. I also have a slight uncomfortability with those who never had to pay for their sins, though. He and Jim Brown seem to be known domestic abusers who breezed through in an era that didn’t care enough about women.
  9. I don’t feel bad at all. He’s getting overpaid at $5 mill for the next five seasons and still has two very good (maybe elite in Barzal) linemates.
  10. In what way does that make you think it doesn’t inspire much confidence? That’s how the evaluation process for QBs works...
  11. Sheary is younger than Kane
  12. And now he’s played his way onto McDavid’s wing.
  13. That’s sick that he’s on your beer league team but I have zero interest in adding him until or unless bodies are moved out.
  14. If he produced in the first half like he did in the second half he’d be looking at $7M at least. He would’ve finished with around 75 points.
  15. The Nats have been trash this season (to the point where I think they should be entertaining offers for Harper) but I’m not too worried going forward. My only real worry is Rizzo. He’s a terrible GM.
  16. I voted keep all three. I’m open to anything, but the hope is we’re about to have a surge of expensive deals. Eichel’s already on one, Mittelstadt hopefully earns one in two years and Dahlin hopefully does in three. Reinhart right now. The best and most sustainable franchises are able to supplement their expensive talent with quality young prospects. Three first round picks is a ton to restock the cupboard, so to speak. And we don’t really have much in the pipeline right now.
  17. He had two goals overturned in one game. I believe he had four overturned goals before he got his first official one and his first official one was reviewed if I remember correctly. Seems like there was basically an attitude of “no way Derek Grant actually scored legally, right?” Just review it and they’ll find something.
  18. I can’t get behind paying a guy extra just because you’re afraid he’ll get upset if he outperforms the deal. If you can get him at the lower number you do it. If he really gets pissed off then you’ve got a pissed off bargain or a hell of a trade chip.
  19. Adam Henrique got a 5 year deal worth $5.825M per today, too. He’s much older than both of these guys, but it’s interesting to see the range these guys get.
  20. Barzal with some fun handles... Isles are in good hands with him. Still can’t believe the Bruins passed on him three times. I was screaming his whole draft year that he was the number three guy in the class behind Eichel and McDavid.
  21. Man, really wish we would’ve got Lindholm at that price.
  22. Defenseman rarely do because it normally takes defenseman a few years to develop, but the last defenseman to go number one won it (Ekblad) and he wasn’t even on Dahlin’s level.
  23. Hopefully one of our two studs are winning it, but it does feel like a huge waive of elite talent is arriving to the NHL this season. Dahlin, Mittelstadt, Pettersson, Andersson (NYR) and a few more I’m too lazy to think of.
  24. The Canucks were nearly as bad as the Sabres and lost a ton. The Sabres didn’t “lose” anything. They traded O’Reilly for assets. Nobody of note walked in free agency or retired. They also don’t have anyone near Eichel or Dahlin’s level. Their best prospects are on Reinhart/Mittelstadt level.
  25. Luckily he’s not and it was a bad comparison.
