    To Freeman on the Sekera trade: I didn't like trading Sekera either but the price was high for picks in last year's very strong draft. Trading Sekera also balanced the D corp for the next couple of years. Even though there are scrub placeholders at this point, next year or perhaps the year after will have a healthy balance of puck movers and size. It was an admission of rebuilding, something that Darcy didn't do until the end. I saw it as a good soldier move, not a panic move.

    I just OD'd on it and watched all 13 episodes in the past 3 days. You and I were meant to be. There is that quality of the audience getting pushed away by how devious the main character is while still being charmed by his anti-heroism.

    But the Sabres aren't going to be winning any cups in the next 3 seasons, and Ott is a good guy to be around for the building. With so many fringe players already on the roster, I'd rather have only 6 new forwards next year than 9.

    To the first bolded: Ott would be a good character guy to help our youngins develop properly. Why do you say that PLF would be unlikely to sign him? To the second bolded: Is this girl 11 feet or 30 feet tall?

    It'll be interesting to see Ullmark's numbers next year. I'd be willing to bet we'll see him come back down to earth, but if he can keep those numbers up? Wow. I'd say it's almost a certainty that they'll let Ullmark play in the SHL at least another year. He likely won't come to North America until he's very near NHL ready. He might get a transition stint in Rochester to get used to the smaller ice.

    Florida is on the second night of a back to back. Not too surprising, considering how "well" the Sabres have been doing under Nolan.
