The scene bothered me a lot both thematically and in a technical film making sense. I don't begrudge anyone their enjoyment of the show. I enjoy it by loving all the good stuff (ESPECIALLY the casting/acting. wowza), and nitpicking everything. :) And book readers aren't the only ones who constantly analyze. I have a few shownly friends who hate the action scenes even more than me.

I have no taste for wine. It all seems pretty bad to me, and I definitely can't discern between $20 and $100 wine. My only true experience getting drunk from the stuff is really really nice champagne at a super swanky wedding. As far as beers go, I'm not very picky, but I am more with Claude as far as taste and what I buy is concerned. I learned most of what I know about beer from my older sister. She and her boyfriend are always brewing something these days. They're only been doing it for ~7 months so far and their beers are just now starting to get drinkable.

She's not just holding her friend's hand in hopes of some sort of rescue. Blech. They're wasting Clarke's obvious talent for intense and angry scenes.

Couple of great saves by the crazy one. Rapinoe's crosses weren't very on yesterday. Wambach was still winning battles and in position for every headable ball. She missed one or two, but she's still got it. Once Rapinoe starts hitting the ball a little softer the header goals will come. Tobin Heath impressed me with her fast and controlled game. She was one of the best possession players out there for us (I believe she was a sub and had fresh legs).

Nobody scores 40 anymore. 28 goals is practically the new 40. And Reinhart is much more a setup man than a goal scorer. I think he'll be between a 50-60 point player, hopefully 70. But he still has a long way to go to get even there. Zadorov hasn't even grown up yet, and we don't know that he'll be a Stud D man or a 3rd pairing guy. Malkin is one of the top 10 players in the league, and he plays the most important position. Your idea of what it what take to get Malkin is absurd (even though it does read as what you'd prefer to give up).

In that case, I REALLY hope Risto wins several Norrises and makes a habit of scoring championship clinching goals. Then we can get a leg up on a country that actually produces lots of hockey players :P

I do appreciate the Stannis=Azor Ahai POV that you have on the scene. But deep down my huge issue is that book Stannis is one of my favorite characters, and show Stannis really sucks. Most of my anger has to do with how they portrayed the choice, whereas you're coming from a more bird's eye big picture story sense. I'm mad that Ramsay was a major contributing factor in bringing Stannis to his so called "lowest point." The question of how much Stannis wants the throne is an interesting one. Stannis would tell us that it's merely his duty. He never wanted the iron throne, but the cup passed to him and it's his duty to drink from it. In a deeper sense, I think he desires everything his older brother had and that's part of the reason he's so relentless. You know where I stand on this :P And I think you're wrong about 4 & 5 being universally thought of that way. My read on the fandom (which I am obviously a very active member in if this is how hard I post on a hockey board about the books) is that most people would tell you that 5 is their favorite. Closely followed by the people who hold 3 as their favorite. Of course, in those parts most people probably have at least 1 reread under their belt. I think 2 is my favorite, but it's hard to say because I love them all.

Matt Ellis is a beast on the boards, and a great guy. I just never want to see him in blue and gold again.
